This is a kick arse place to buy musical things. Though slightly cheaper than their direct competitor Kosmic Sound anyway, Billy Hyde will generally beat or match prices if you can find cheaper elsewhere. Their high tech and keyboards section has some amazing toys that I have often considered going into serious debt for, and likewise I enjoy fooling around with the guitars in their acoustic section (especially as it’s soundproofed and the staff rarely come to bother me there). The staff have a diverse range of experience, and there will usually be at least one of the who is knowledgeable about whichever area of music you are shopping for gear for. If you’re a pro or amateur muso, whatever type of music you play, this is the best place in Perth to get your stuff.

Billy hyde music is a musicians dream! It’s a one stop shop for everything from studio grade microphones to RC 50 loop decks and the advice to match. A «fo sure» favorite of mine with friendly staff to help you with whatever toy you decide on. The store is broken up into 7 sections/​2 floors with helpful musical experts assigned correctly to their expertise. On the first floor — Guitars, bass and stringed accessories, Acoustic instruments, Recording/​studio equipment, brass/​horns and Instrument maintenance. The lower basement level is entirely dedicated to drums and percussion with the encouragement to make as much noise as necessary to pick out your desired kit of choice. Being a keen musician myself, I could spend hours on end floating through the fields of decade old, finely tuned artistic engineering and fall in love with instruments ive never even heard of! To top all this off is the price! A label gun given from the hand of god himself! They’re holy like. In some cases even matching the price of global giant «Ebay» with no postage or handling! Statements like this shop help me dream. Not of what it is, its purpose or its place in Perth whilst im willingly surrounded by its walls. Nor the person I am or where ive been. It helps me dream of the person I could be.

Billy Hyde’s is a mecca for drummers in Perth — it boasts one of Perth’s largest ranges of drums. There are few places in Perth where you will see drums lining a large portion of a shop.
Billy Hyde is not only a drum shop, but features other musical instruments such as guitars, basses and keyboards, as well as print music. In comparison, their range of other instruments are not as extensive as their drums, although it is still respectable. For their guitars, the department is divided into two areas — one for electric, and another for acoustic guitars.
However, it is their drums section that shines. They have an extensive range of drums from makers such as Pearl, Tama, Gretsch and DDrum, and a good range of rock and fusion kits. There is also a nice range of cymbals from companies like Zildjian and Sabian. The prices are competitive and the staff are friendly and happy to assist.
For drummers, Billy Hyde is highly recommended.
