Clef is a pretty good music store for sheet music and lower-end musical instruments. The main guy who runs the store is a nice fellow who’s always happy to let you try out guitars etc and is willing to negotiate on the price. I would say if you are a parent with kids just starting on a stringed instrument or keyboard this would be a good place to start. If you are into Romanian black metal or high end amps/guitars then try somewhere like kosmic etc. Ps Clef has heaps on ukeleles in store and they are sweet!

I’m a bit of a fan of Clef. Not for the instruments, but for the sheet music. Good and varied sheet music is hard to find, and Clef has a very nice range AND they’re happy to order things in for you. However, if you’re visiting Clef purely for instrumental reasons, you might come away empty handed. While it stocks some quality instruments, the range is pretty average, and I’ve seen better — and larger — plenty of other places. So it’s kind of 50/50, and really depends on what you’re after. Anyone interested in music — I recommend going down just cos it’s a cool music shop to visit.

Clef Music is a really cool place. They have a wide variety of music instruments, from ukuleles to mandolins to guitars, pianos, harmonicas, bongo drums, sheet music and much more. I found the the staff(who I think is the owner) to be very helpful. He was very friendly and knew a lot about the instruments. He was also willing to work with me on the price of the items I was interested in. He had an amazing electric piano(not a keyboard) with nicely weighted keys for $ 1,500. If you’re into music, I would highly recommend checking out Clef Music. The store has been in Perth for over 30 years.

Clef Music is the second music instrument store in Perth. Over the years, it has undergone some significant changes — where once it featured two floors of instruments, nowadays it has moved up Hay St and is a single floored shop. Clef Music focuses more on classical acoustic instruments, such as violins, cellos, and brass instruments. They also have a decent range of sheet music, electric guitars and electric basses. In terms of electric guitar and amplifiers, Clef Music is rather disappointing. Most of the instruments are at the lower end of the scale, and the prices are higher than most other music shops in Perth. The staff are generally disinterested in customers. Overall, there is little to entice customers at Clef Music, except if you are looking for sheet music.
