The three stars is for the selection of drinks at the bar and for all the seating and area options. Dining area is your family and pensions get your salad bar type deal… The newest area is probably where it is at but the food at the Gully no matter where in the Gully you go is mediocre. The pizzas are not good at all, doughy with no flavor, the parmy is over priced and just not awesome and tasty. Everything seems to lack flavor. The gully is good to watch a football game and have some drinks with some hot chips to share but actual meal wise, they need improvement.

Waited 45 minutes to get cold uncooked prawn skewers, that were still green! Sent it back and was told they were fine, just a little cold, because they were«twice cooked» — what a load of rubbish. Got them back and they were actually white as you would expect cooked prawns to be. Mistakes happen, fine. Lying about it is a choice. Dirt on the cucumber in the salad too. Avoid.

I rarely if ever provide a low rating however in this case The Gully really failed on delivery of food, all parties with me experienced poor food. We all started with a herb pizza bread for entrée, this was extremely dry and lacked taste other than burnt bread and cheese, the rosemary on the bread was also dry and didn’t offer much in the taste department, we all added salt and ground pepper to the bread to add flavour. We all felt some olive oil wouldn’t have gone amiss with this dish and some salt from the kitchen. Our mains arrived about 20 minutes after the bread was finished, the two burgers we had were okay, a bit greasy but that is the point of a burger. Another person from the group had fish and chips, the fish tasted of ammonia and didn’t really get eaten, the rest was left on the plate but the chips were eaten as we needed something to eat. We won’t be looking to go back as this was the second bad experience some of my guests have had recently. Some days and times may be better than others but we were not there on a good day.

On par with Walkers Arms in most ways. A very large Hotel that can cater to huge numbers. There are different sections, from gaming, main bar, bistro, and garden, the latter broken up into various smaller sections that(architecturally) utilise the creek bed which now basically runs underneath the Hotel. In that regard it’s quite impressive and on nice days inviting. It’s what makes it stand out amongst it’s peers. On the most recent lunch visit we shunned the garden due to heat and spent time in the bistro, dodging pensioners and staff off their ‘xmas’ feet. The Hotel caters for the elderly by providing specials and a ‘seniors’ menu. It also caters for kids and their menu has something for everyone. Overall the meals looked good and the only real issues related to overcooked steak. The salad bar choices were good and salads fresh and tasty. I ‘tested’ with a chicken schnitzel which wasn’t bad, not Adelaide’s best but pleasant enough with nice crumb and not dry/overcooked. The pepper sauce was slightly less impressive. Thanks to my colleagues watching their weight I also sampled quite a bit of the salt & pepper squid. The latter was lighter in flavour than most but well cooked and presented and a pleasure to eat. With two beer-pint specials on the tap there was little to complain about.

A group of us decided to get together Saturday night and thought we would love to see the amazing beer garden and have dinner together. Well yes, the beer garden was amazing, but the food was plain old just okay. There were 6 of us on the table, 3 couples — so we ordered all at the same time maybe 1 minute apart at 7:30pm. One couple ordered an entrée of oysters the rest of us had easy pizzas, pork belly, schnitzels and chicken special. My partner and I got our meals at 8pm — we waited 10 minutes for the entrée and the other meals but they never arrived so thought we must start eating as our meals were already now getting cold. Pork belly was delicious, margarita pizzas as nothing to rave about. Finally 15 minutes after the oysters came. Then not for another 30 minutes now 8:45 did the other meals venture out. It was really disappointing and awkward as we all felt like everyone had to sit there and watch each other finish their meals as we didn’t eat together. Yes we did tell the staff at 8:30 that some had been waiting an hour for their meals and the staff said its because of the entrée, which is ridiculous cause 2 mains came out before the entrée. Anyway the gist is, I wouldn’t eat here again especially on a Saturday night! Good cocktails though decent prices. Bar staff were great! So so.

I love the new beer garden! Multi levels with private booth areas, lots of greenery, a really cool giant tent roof and interesting corners with beautiful hanging chairs! The heaters were working a treat, almost too warm, as we wished we hadn’t worn wooly jumpers! Luckily we had booked a table as the place was packed, just not lucky enough to have scored a booth! The chairs varied from wooden with cushion to plain metal without. The latter not too comfortable. I’m not sure what happened with our food orders but they did get quite a bit wrong. I was a little disappointed with my main and dessert. The dukkah crusted barramundi and appleslaw lacked flavor and the salad was quite chunky with big pieces of celery and cabbage. Dessert was the kahlua espresso pudding. I should have read the menu in more detail as it really was only custard in a cup, no pudding as the name suggested! We were seated right in front of the band, which was very loud and made conversation a little difficult. Management did acknowledge the mixup in orders and kindly did provide desserts and a drink for free. I would definitely be going back to The Gully as I love that beer garden! Now I have seen the layout, I will be booking a booth in the upper garden area and trying one of their pizzas or hamburgers. They looked amazing!

We used to be regulars here for dinner and trivia nights. But the last few times have been disappointing 2 of our favorite items were removed from the menu quite a while ago leaving quite a standard«pub«menu. The salad and veg bar always looks messy and unpresented. It has the basic usual choices and is nothing special. Prices have risen since the renovations but the menu doesn’t match and although the food isn’t cooked badly I can’t say it’s great either

Sat in the newly renovated beer garden for thr first time last night. The surrounding as spectacular for a suburban pub. The massive screen was great for sport enthusiasts and there are plenty of cool nooks to enjoy a drink with a group in relative private. Drinks list is impressive with a few craft beers on tap and a nice list of cocktails, and what looks to be a decent wine selection. The food was a little disappointing — I sampled some of the Ribs share platter. For $ 70 it was a decent feed for 3 people. The beef short rib was melting and delicious but came in a large piece which was difficult to cut with all the bone. Tandoori chicken wings were lightly spiced and flavourful. The smoked pork rib was fatty, rich and soft but lacking seasoning. The lamb rib was the worst on the platter — well cooked but very fatty and no flavour to the meat other than grease. Chips were very good, and the coleslaw fresh and crunchy. Ordering a ribs meal I expect sweet, smoky and savoury flavours and this did not deliver. I sampled the Barossa lamb pizza which was delicious with lots of meat and fetta with sweet roasted pumpkin. We also ordered a dessert pizza, which read much better on paper: vanilla custard base, nutella, banana, peanut toffee and vanilla ice cream. We learned the kitchen was out of banana and agreed to an apple & pear substitution. The base was good, custard barely perceptible. Nutella was in large globs we had to spread ourselves, the apple soft and sweet. The peanut toffee should have given much needed crunch and toastiness to the dish but instead was in a very fine powder, sprinkled pretty lightly. The ice cream scoop un the middle of the pizza was difficult to spread and just ended up leaving a melted mess. The ‘harvest’ menu of seasonal themed specials(it was apple this time) looked really good. I would return again and maybe go for a pizza or harvest menu over the ribs platter.

We had eaten in the bistro a few months ago which was okay, if not a bit 90s in feel but as we walked through the beautifully renovated garden area, we were regretting not booking in there instead! This was rectified when we booked in for Mother’s Day dinner recently. The space was well heated with strategically placed patio heaters as well as built in gas illusion fire places. The space has been fitted out with some really nice touches, down to the mosaic tiles on the staircase, the light fittings, the garden itself and the bar accoutrements. This is a next level beer garden, fully enclosed to keep out the elements and, as such, completely non-smoking. Enormous TV that lit the room depending on what was on the screen. There is an outdoor decking area available also. The staff were all friendly, chatty and helpful which created a welcoming atmosphere and the menu had a good range at higher-end suburban pub prices(which is becoming the standard now, really) including share plates, platters, pizza and some usual suspects in burgers and chicken parmis. Standard kids menu with good sized serves. I ordered a chicken tortellini from the specials menu and was very happy with it; silky buttery pasta, good quality chicken, tasty rose sauce and spinach. The other meals were all enjoyed as well, including a SA Prawn pizza and the Chicken 65 burger. When buying drinks, I got the tank beer special for the two blokes at the table and was offered a sample to try(as a non-beer drinker, I declined but appreciated the offer) and noticed other beers offered as samples to customers which is a point of difference. The only minor complaint raised were the deckchair style chairs, albeit solid and comfortable, were a bit low for the table. Aside from that, our party was well impressed and we will be back!

While I have only been here a couple of times, and once was after a long hike in a nearby national park and we all wanted some place to rest and have a drink(and why not go to a local pub), I used to know somebody who was a regular and referred to it as ‘The Gully’. My impression was that their beer garden was nothing short of awesome. It literally takes the term beer garden to a completely new level. There was an actual garden with a rockery and a pool in the middle, and it was enclosed as well, so the elements could be kept out, which meant that there were TV screens where we could watch the football. This garden was also strictly non-smoking(namely because it was technically indoors) which means that the patrons can enjoy a meal without having to worry about cigarette smoke. Oh, the other parts of the pub weren’t bad either, it is just that the beer garden pretty much makes the rest pale in comparison.

Came her for dinner with a group last night. We ate in the new beer garden area. The staff were great, all friendly and chatty. The new beer garden itself is a great area, nice outdoor parts and indoors was great, love the booths! The food was ok, but unfortunately not great. Here’s the general comments — Black pepper and lime prawns were nice, sliders were ok, mussels and broth way too salty, salt and pepper squid was good, ramen in broth with pork belly — pork was all fat and skin not crunchy, oysters good, burger slightly overcooked, chicken Parma great, fish and chips great. The menu looks fantastic, it was unfortunate that not all of the meals were. 3 stars for the food, 4 for the staff and venue and I will come back in the hope the food has lifted!

Well i’ve only been on one occasion… but from what i see if you live this way it is a place to be at the weekend! With a Saloon bar like interior featuring all the lights, disco balls and adverts for cocktails and drink specials you can tell this a popular night spot. The out door area is extensive on 2⁄3 levels with bars all-round. Food is only served at lunch and dinner times and there is no all day menu which is the only down side i could see. The prices for beer/cider were acceptable.

Went here for a drink and was good. The place has lots of space, and a great outside area. Have heard it can get busy over weekends, will definitely go back for food next time.

The Gully used to be raging, it was the big suburban place to be on a Friday night for the 20 somethings to get together, have a dance and have a(big) drink. The beer garden is huge, just as big as the inside — multi level with its own bar. However, that was a few years ago. Now the Friday night crowd seems a bit(very) sleazy and thinning out which can make it an uncomfortable evening in such a large space. The restaurant has been up and down over the years, but the last visit I had(about a month ago) was tasty and big for the price and I realised that it probably has the best salad bar I’ve come across at a pub. Used to be good for a big night — now probably best for a pub meal.

This place isn’t really my scene… I used to come here when I was dating this idiot security guard from Salisbury. Let’s just say you have to be pretty drunk to have a good time here, and no one was dancing! what’s the use of music if you aren’t going to dance people? It’s faster to get drinks from the pokies room bar, for some reason no one thinks of this option, I think there’s less choice but who cares, alcohol is alcohol when you’re at The Gully. Bit feral, a few fights here and there, stupid hotted up skylines in the car park with the police hidden round the corner to catch them out, good fun to watch actually. it’s a decent sized venue with ample seating, lots of girls wearing slutty clothing and guys decked in Tap Out branded t shirts. Welcome to the Norf.

This suburban pub is huge, with a range of bars, a large beer garden and a bottle shop. Its size makes it the perfect place for live music, and it is quite a relaxing place to go for Sunday session drinks inside or out as a live act plays. SERVICE The service is generally efficient and friendly. DINING There is a dining room and the Garden Restaurant, with all-day dining on a Sunday. We’ve only had bread and dips at this pub, but they were quite tasty and the pizza bread was nice and crisp. GAMINGROOM There is a room full of pokie machines for those who fancy a flutter, and the pub is big enough for it not to annoy people who prefer more of an atmosphere.

Oh The Gully, it is officially known as the Tea Tree Gully Hotel, but I, and everyone else have always known it as The Gully. Many a raging Friday nights have been had here, in their garden bar which is multi-leveled(with ramps thankfully) and has a large bar/entertaining area. Located at the foothills, The Gully is pretty much a place for Northerners on a Friday night to go out without paying for the trip in and out and during the city. There is ample parking, backstreets to take home and is close enough to ring your parents for a ride. The Gully used to host bands but now it has moved to DJs, and they host regular ‘modelling’ competitions for girls and guys. The drinks are reasonable, the crowd is a bit on the daggy/suburban side, but the night is usually a good one and can be small and early.
