There was one time when I was living in the Adelaide suburb of Paradise to jump on a bus and go and visit the Golden Grove tavern. So one night I decided to put my desires into action and did just that. In a way I wish I didn’t because as it turned out this pub wasn’t all that wonderful in the first place. Okay, there were some places that I would regularly drink(including the one near my house), but I wanted to try something a little different. Basically this is your standard suburban middle class pub with everything you would expect from the same — pokie machines, a bistro, and a sports bar. Sure, the beer garden was nice, but that was probably about it. Oh, and there is no direct access to the sports bar — you have to walk around outside to get to it.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Small breakfast menu but nice things to choose from. Fresh produce. Recommend the fritters as it comes with tomato relish and smashed avocado. It’s so filling. The only thing that bothers me is they play music in the background(pretty loud for breakfast time) and have MTV/music videos on at the same time on large screens in the restaurant that play different music. Would prefer not to have TV in the restaurant anyway.

I went here last night for a private function, so my review is only really relevant to that. It was a good venue and the birthday girl was able to get a separate area, marked off with balloons. Canapés were the order of the day and they kept coming served by pleasant, friendly and fun wait staff. The food was all yummy, including the arancini balls, the smoked salmon salmon, the Cajun beef, the chicken and pistachio, the Thai chicken salad on endive, and the caramelised onion quiche. Dessert choices were chocolate tarts and lemon meringue spoons. Yum! The band, hired for the event, was awesome, playing classic swing and jazz. A great setting and great night. Good party venue.

A nice place, a little further from home for what I would call local, but lots of my friends live out this way. We went there for tea once and I am a big parmy fan. I could eat chicken parmigiana with hot chips and salad for every meal if possible. So I ordered my usual and what came out both confused and almost disgusted me. What parmy has mince meat on top?! Not one I have had nor liked. I never knew bolognese sauce to be on top of my chicken snitty. Needless to say I scraped it all off, and so did all my friends as we laughed and tilted our heads at it. I haven’t eaten there since, and probably won’t, but the inside and beer garden areas are quite nice for older locals.

A real local’s joint. I walked into the front bar looking for my friends and everyone in there sort of looked up. Turns out my mates were in the lounge area… A comfortable and relaxing spot. The menu in the lounge was pretty limited, but the nacho’s did the trick. Imperial pints were cool, the price less so.
