Ryan’s is a place of convenience for me and my coworkers, as we work in the building across the street. Many patrons of Ryan’s are probably in the same boat – they work in the area, they know the foods decent and the prices aren’t crazy, so they head here at lunch and for post work drinks, crowdin the patio. There’s also a subset of young women who seem to think they might find their future partner if they rock up to Ryan’s on a Friday looking like they’re about to go to the club, so if you’re into that it’s the place for you. The food is good, especially the tacos and pizza, and they come out quite quickly day and night. The lines at the bar are almost always LONG, and they petite blonde bartenders will always choose to serve men over women. I would not choose to come to Ryan’s if I didn’t work across the street, but I do, so Ryan’s it is for me.

$ 10 steak Monday’s are great, pizza is also good — I would suggest chorizo :) Gets a little crowded from 5 – 6:30 during summer but great any time outside of this!

Well well well… Now I know where the«cool» kids go to drink on a Friday night. I love me a good rooftop bar, or outdoor beer garden so to Ryan’s Bar we went for a Friday night drink. I heard the bass line from the speakers bumping as I walked up and then ‘oh Jesus’ escaped me as I saw the mass of boots and suits. Great space if you don’t mind shouting your conversations, waiting ½ hour for a drink(seriously though-fix that logistical nightmare) or pushing through hoards of YUPs. I loved that my fellow drinkers referenced this place as «the dry cleaner»

Ryan’s is a conveniently located, open-air bar, which makes it great for after-work drinks or lunch in the sun. Once the weather is good, this place is totally packed though, which means service is slow and it’s hard to get a table(or even a spot to stand sometimes)! That said, it’s still a great place to meet up with friends and colleagues. Drink prices are average for Sydney(house wine starts at $ 7, beer starts around $ 6ish). Food prices are actually pretty good(most mains are under $ 15). The peri-peri wrap and pulled pork burger are both great.

They recently changed the menu and weekly lunch specials. Wednesdays are $ 12 pizzas. Normal pizza price is $ 13-$ 18, so not a huge savings. Tried the prawn pizza today, thin crispy crust with bit of chili flakes and pesto. Pretty average food, nothing special or exciting. Go more for outdoor seating on a sunny day than the food.

It’s an average bar with average drinks and average(city) prices. The food I’ve had(a chicken and chorizo pizza) was also average. If you’re a CBD worker it’s a good location, though: between Pitt and George at the back of Australia Square, it’s central for a significant chunk of the downtown working population. Case in point: me. I don’t go to an office every day, but when I do it’s the tower right behind it, so I can look out the window and see how busy it is. That’s the other good point: lots of outdoor space, in a vast courtyard nestled between big office towers. Convenient location pub.

At 5pm the nearby skyscrapers disgorge their sartorially splendid larvae who all congregate in the open air courtyard to drink expensive beers and celebrate their Alpha maleness together. I mean, look, if you’re a girl with a thing for men in sharp suits and money clips, you’ll be as happy as a pig in ish at Ryan’s Bar. Similarly, if you’re a dude who likes hanging around with other dudes in sharp suits, all a similar shade of black or grey or blue — but no linen, God help you if it’s linen — and being stalked by the aforementioned women, you too will be very happy here. Everyone else will probably not have a great time here. But hey, Ryan’s knows what it’s good at, and who likes that particular brand of good, and it doesn’t try to be anything else. It’s basically the Beresford for straight high net worth individuals.

I am probably biased, because Ryans is pretty much a second home for me and has been for years. I used to go regularly for Friday drinks after work with friends and we always had a great time — pizza, wine, eye candy and a bit of sunshine make a great combo to finish off a working week. Now I work right next to Ryans and couldn’t be happier because that Food Court is my daily lunchtime spot — where I hang with friends and coworkers, eat my lunches by the fountain, stop by for a cheeky drink before going somewhere else. Ryans for me is Sydney, simple as that.

A friend suggested we should check this place out as it was a nice day in Sydney and the majority of the bar is outside. This place attracts a mix of suits and traders depending on what time of day you start your drinking. The prices for drinks were good for the location however the service was not the best. Overall we had a good time for the 2 drinks we had there however would not be rushing back any time soon.

This place is a total sausage fest — great eye candy! Lots of handsome executive types in suits. But don’t excited, they’re not that friendly. It is Sydney, after all! They’re all in their own little world discussing Secret Man Business or whatever men in suits have deep, in depth conversations about. Cheap cocktails, reasonable drinks… otherwise unremarkable. Nice on a sunny afternoon.

Great for afterwork drinks, decent pub food. This is a perfect summer bar. On a sunny day it is the perfect place to be as the majority of the bar is outdoor, horrible on a rainy evening! It is always extremely crowded on a Friday night, and can be a bit of a wait to get a drink. The bar staff is quite young and can be very rude. They play live music in the courtyard on Fridays during lunch, but it can be very annoying trying to find an open table, and one with seats at that. Positives and negatives, but overall a fun easy relaxed vibe on a Friday evening after work.

I have mixed reviews. I work across the street so we frequent Ryan’s Bar. I would say we go there at least once a week Let’s start with the positives. Decent drink prices and actually good food. I love the tandoori chicken pizza and find myself craving it frequently. Also a large space for an outdoor bar so that’s a plus. The negatives? Somewhat rude staff and it can get really crowded. I’ll keep going back, but more of convenience rather than choice.

AKA Meat Market– It might be one of life’s best guilty pleasure– there’s nothing better than throwing on some sunglasses on a sunny Friday afternoon and perving away at all of the bankers and brokers who’ve gathered to have some beers. True, they could very well be grade A wankers, but there’s nothing like a sea of fine men in suits to start the weekend off right. It isn’t easy to get a drink, so if you actually need to toss down a few in rapid succession to forget the week you’ve just had don’t head here as the bar line is always atrocious. But if you’re fine to hang out with friends, enjoy the fresh air and peruse the options this is a great way to wrap up a week. You can get a quiet drink throughout the week, but it isn’t nearly as much fun!

We had our work Melbourne Cup event at Ryan’s bar. Great outdoor setting with pretty decent pubish food. I like good fushion food and the Peking duck pizza was definitely a stand out. The staff were great in helping my friend find her phone after she lost it at some point during the day. With summer just a around the corner one can only expect this place to be getting busier and busier in the next few months.

When I first started working in the CBD, I was informed quite definitively that Ryan’s is a «meat market». To the untrained eye, it definitely would appear to be one too… you can almost feel the buzz of energy/tension/speculation passing between the professionally-clad men and women… but it’s not really a meat market at all. I’ve been having after work catch ups with friends/colleagues at Ryans for years now and I have rarely witnessed the activities that make a venue a meat market occur. People are there to chill out, have a few drinks and enjoy Sydney. Aside from the great outdoor space and good music, there’s really nothing overly special about the bar. It’s just become a good place to socialise Sydney-style. Not too dressy(I’ve even had drinks in my gym gear), not too cheap/boozy, plenty of fresh air, a good variety of patrons, good music, food if you need it and everything is reliable… things rarely change at Ryans. I love this bar for the good times I’ve had in it… it’s a blank canvas — bring yourself, bring your friends and have some fun.

Well, holy shit, an outdoor house party buried in the CBD. One minute you are walking through the concrete jungle of sky scrapers and street lights, and after a quick turn between buildings you are in some sort of Finance rager, including gawking suits, mini skirted lassies, lots of cigarette smoke and Skrillex on the booming speakers. And none of this is bad in my mind. I was totally amused by the spectacle. Friday happy hours in Sydney are way bigger than the US… and that is certainly saying something. Oh, and the nachos were yummy too.

I’m more of a pub kinda guy. I prefer relaxing with a pint while watching the game, or doing a quiz over most other types of bars. As such, Ryan’s really didn’t do much for me when I dropped in for happy hour on Friday. And yet, I wasn’t entirely put off as I was expecting to be. The bar is essentially a beer garden the size of a half city block tucked between high rise office buildings. By the time we arrived it was shoulder to shoulder young professionals unwinding after the work week and enjoying the relatively mild mid summer evening. Fighting our way through to the bar was only half the battle. Jockeying for position to get a drink was the other half. There were a number of queues at the bar ranging from 6 – 10 people deep that seemed to be moving along, but once you got within three people of the bar most of the order and civility was tossed in a mad scramble to catch a bartender’s attention. There’s nothing quite like getting hip checked by a gal in heels who’s nearly half your size when there are drinks on the line. The temporary pain was equal to the temporary gain I suppose, as we put ourselves through the crowd gauntlet three times before we moved on. With drinks in hand and a spot to stand secured near at the periphery of the masses, we engaged in some fine end of week unwinding and people watching while making plans for later that night. Were I a local, I doubt Ryan’s would be on my radar for a regular destination, but I also doubt I’d complain if that’s where the post-work party was headed, provided it didn’t head there too frequently.

If you work in the city, head to Ryan’s Bar on a Friday for after work drinks. The place is filled to the brim with suits. As the sun goes down, stiletto wearing females join the crowd and a DJ pumps out loud top 40 hits. He is no musical genius but he does know how to get the crowd pumping and people will tend to make their own dance floors. Sport is televised so you will never miss a game of Friday night footy. Don’t come here to eat, come here to mingle. Make some new friends and enjoy this casual laid back, no judgement bar. There aren’t too many left.

Get drunk and get sloppy with Sydney’s suits at Ryan’s Bar! Located at the back of Australia Square, Ryan’s is a very popular place for people working in the area to let off steam and truly unwind… and drink a lot. During happy hour, beer and house wines are $ 5, which is a great deal. The bar is basically a huge outdoor zone with umbrella-shaded tables and seats. It’s actually a really nice place to be when you find yourself in the CBD with weather is nice. Sometimes there’s a DJ playing some music. I can’t say that I’ve eaten anything at Ryan’s Bar, but I know that Ryan’s Kitchen has a sufficient menu with gourmet pizzas, fish, and other bar foods. It’s the atmosphere at Ryan’s that I really like. It’s not in the least bit pretentious, but a place where people seem to let their guard down and chill out. During lunchtime, I’ve seen people bring their own lunch with them and eat it as they sip a drink. The only thing is that you have to go to the bar to order your drinks. Service is good; the bartenders have always been courteous and speedy. Don’t expect anything over the top or fancy, but it’s still an enjoyable time.

Yes Ryans Bar and Chicane use to sit in the middle of the financial district until they all started to move down towards Darling Harbour and out to bigger spaces in the inner west. Despite this shift it still remains popular with city workers who come to wind down. Friday nights the crowd has a mixture of suits, students, killer stillettos and short skirts and the courtyard pulsates with the masses. During summer its popular to grab lunch and watch the cricket on the plasmas. There are 25 beers on offer including 15 by the bottle. Wine is avaliable also with a favour on the whites. The food is standard bar food including pizzas, burgers, french fries and steaks though most choose liquid dinners when they choose to go to Ryans Bar.
