This is a great hotel with good food at reasonable prices and an ideal atmosphere that is suited for catching up with friends, that business meeting or for just chilling out. The times I have been here I have walked along George Street and I know that this is a little haven in a busy city. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. The décor is of an older wooden style with dim lighting. The lights on the wall are fascinating. I just wonder how they get the light bulbs in the beer bottles. The meals are substantial and are nicely arranged on a wooden platter. The food is tasty. I feel very relaxed here and there is a wide range of people who visit this establishment.

Love the vibe! Although a bit on the small side. Right in the CBD but not too pretentious. $ 6 happy hour from 5pm-7pm. This one could be my new go-to place!

I think the Royal George has almost earned itself a ‘trusty reliable pub’ badge. It’s a smallish pub style bar in the heart of Martin Place/George Street(business district), which is truly reliable for a midweek or early Friday pint, particularly in bad weather. It’s central, so it’s a good meeting place, and it has a pool table, which is a rare sight in the city these days.

Only had a drink, no food but it wasn’t bad. Staff were friendly, music good, Bloody Mary was basic but spicy, I’d go back again to pass a couple if hours

Great food. Great atmosphere. Terrible service. Unless you are a British backpacker or know the bartenders, be prepared to wait and wait and wait and wait to be served!

— pub style food(i.e. snitzel, steak) — well kept premises with friendly staff — located directly opposite Wynyard station, which makes it very convenient. The location also makes for great after work drinks or a decent pub lunch — Billiard table available for entertainment — food is reasonably priced, a major plus when dining in the city — small and cosy, not bustling — can get a little too quiet — owned and run by the Merivale group(The Ivy, Establishment etc).

Finding a bar in Sydney that serves pints is a special thing. Yeah… schooners are available… but pints are where it is at(though they still won’t serve my whisky in a pint glass… not sure why…). :-) Actually this bar does alot of things right. The location close to Wynyard is very convenient for one of those nights that start off with the statement«lets just go have one beverage»… and end up with a kebab and a hangover(so I have been told by a very very close *cough* friend…). The other thing that this pub does right is a free pool table. Go to the bar with your id and grab the box of balls and you are right to play as many games of pool as you want. The quality of the table is also quite high(in comparison to other pub tables), which gives some people fewer excuses for missing a seemingly straight shot… One thing to be wary of however is that while in the back of the Royal G, you may find your phone feels like it is in a faraday cage(no signal). Not a massive issue for most, but for some geeks who are addicted to the internet… it is like someone suddenly withdrew all of the oxygen in the room. In summary… Pints + Free Pool — Phone Coverage = a good night out… and garlic breath(kebab)
