Stayed at the nearby Hotel Novotel and found this place via Unilocal.Initially I was excited to come here for breakfast because they had corned beef hash on the menu posted on their website, so I was disappointed when it wasn’t on the menu when I sat down to eat. Instead, I got the«Bubble and Squeak» which was amazing. Hollandaise sauce was really tasty. This dish is probably the best thing I’ve eaten so far on this trip.

Been here twice — first when it was the Diamant hotel and then again since it has changed to the Mantra. The first time was definitely better than the second, which makes me wonder if it has changed management when the hotel changed? The staff actually seemed surprised when we walked in, and rather than seating us or asking if we wanted coffee/breakfast they sort of just stared at us until we asked if we could sit down… Awkward. We were served almost cold coffees(boo!) but the food was nice enough. I had smashed avo which was lovely. My partner had eggs benedict which he said was nice, except the ham tasted very processed. Overall, it was okay. I probably wouldn’t go back again, it was a bit ‘meh’. Nice enough, but nothing special.

I recently stayed at the Diamant Hotel Brisbane and O Bar & Restaurant was connected to it. Decided to check out the restaurant without any expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and delicious food. Breakfast has a variety of items from simple toast with in-house made jam to full on brekkie. I tried the Potato and Ricotta fritters that were tasty. They use Toby’s Estate coffee. Dinner was where it was at though. I had an amazing Lamb and Haloumi dish. The lamb was cooked to perfection and well… haloumi is all that is right in this world. They have a variety of beers on tap that change on the regular along with a full bar. It’s not very big but it does have a covered outdoor area that is nice. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area for a drink or even some grub.

Nice meal and loved the Décor gets quite busy in the afternoon after work but will go back again seeing its so close to home. The meals are unique and have a bit of a tapas style menu going with interesting combinations of flavours but it all worked well.

I was here for breakfast now for three times. And i have say: I really like it. The service is really nice and care about you. The food is made fresh(what takes about 10 minutes) and tastes very good. You definitively have to try the Tomato & Avocado toast with scrambled eggs for breakfast when you’re there. :) You can sit outside, if you want. It’s heated in the morning hours, so you won’t freeze. And you can have coffee for take-away when you’re in a hurry.

Had breakfast and dinner at O Bar because I was staying at the Diamant Hotel which is attached. The bar has a great wine list, and includes some great boutique beers by the bottle. For dinner I tried the duck liver parfait($ 14) and a side salad($ 8). It was probably not a great choice but I couldn’t resist the parfait… it was fluffy and came with a quince paste and croutons. For breakfast the next day I tried the avocado, tomato and chevre on toast($ 14). Sadly there was only 1 slice of toast and the serve was pretty small. But on the plus side, the cheese was amazing and the flavours were perfect. Great simple breakfast with a coffee($ 3.50) to start the day. Would definitely come back if I was staying at the hotel, but probably wouldn’t make the trip otherwise.

This almost«hole in the wall» bar and restaurant is in Astor Terrace, which thanks to the likes of the Diamant Hotel, is slowly beginning to breathe life into an older part of Brisbane city. I say almost«hole in the wall» because amongst the hustle and bustle of appointments and daily life you’d easily miss this gem while on your merry way. It is a little out of the way for your average CBD-explorer, however, if you were a guest at the adjoining Diamant Hotel, you’ll find O Bar & Restaurant a welcome treat when weighing up between a funky and well-designed restaurant or room service. My experience was with a take away coffee(Toby’s Estate) which was made promptly and unburnt. The staff are super friendly and everyone I noticed coming in was greated with a warm smile. Of course, the beauty of its location is that I’m confident when I return to try the rest of their menu-ed fare I’ll be able to find a possie without drama or a fight through crowds.

This is an awesome little bar and restaurant that you probably wouldn’t know about unless you work in the surrounding area as I do. While its not very convenient for those who don’t, it does have delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and its in a fantastic spot if you do work in Spring Hill and want to go somewhere for a feed before, during or after work. The dinner menu is a little pricey but breakfast is surprisingly cheap considering the quality of the food. Their potato and feta hash cakes with crème fraîche are scrumptious-full of flavour, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and perfectly complemented by the crème fraîche and cherry tomatoes. They do really good coffee to go with it that’s available for takeaway as well. Of course, being a bar it’s also good for a drink and is very popular with the office workers in the surrounding businesses. They have some amazing cocktails like a blood orange martini and a berry mojito that really hit the spot on a Friday afternoon!

O bar might be hard to come by if you are in the city due its location which i think might be the only downside to the place. Its not in the heart of the city and seems to be frequented by people who work on Astor terrace and the roads that are close by. This is not all bad because i think that if every one knew about it then you would never find a seat. The bar is nothing out of the ordinary and serve everything you might expect at reasonable prices. The thing that stuck out to me was the food that they served. There is not a whole lot of seating for dinner but that doesnt seem to be a huge problem. I had rump steak with a potato bake on the side and its was very good. Made to exactly how i liked it with a sauce that was to die for. A friend had a the herb crusted lamb and it looked just as good. Its size and the fact that its not over crowed does make it a good spot for a date and you will both be impressed by the food.
