Geneff is at the crescendo where the coastline meets the park– a priceless location! Standing ahead of the surrounding parks which pride themselves on wide open spaces, Geneff is a picnic paradise for families and friends– close enough to the beach to be cooled by the sea breeze but not so close as to cop a mouth full of sand in your sanga. The playground situated on rubber foam–(hooray for«safety» first playgrounds that are like improv tramps) — is marked by staggered bricks eluding to a castle-like existence. The equipment is small, a couple swings, a tower and a slide, but coupled with the BBQs and elongated picnic space, it makes a great tangible mirage with a beautiful view of Sorrento Beach. Geneff has got the gift.

Geneff Park is small and non-descript – indeed, it is one of the dullest parks around. I walk past it – not through it, for to walk through it would be to validate it – whenever I’m on my way to the nearby BWS for some beer, wine or spirits. One occasionally comes across a family in the park – there is a children’s playground, which probably explains their presence, but it is old and decrepit and probably a death trap, which probably explains why, despite their presence, no one is ever actually playing on the thing. Unlike the nearby Seaward Loop Park, which has no name as is really just a slice of pretty land in the middle of a residential area, Geneff Park does have a name and would much better divided up and built on. It doesn’t make for a pretty picture.
