This is the closest bottle shop to where I live and, while it is by no means the most remarkable purveyor of poisons I have ever visited, and while its selection of such poisons is by no means exhaustive, it certainly does the job. For one thing, it carries German beers like Bitburger, which many other bottle shops do not.(In fact, it is the only bottle shop I visit regularly that does, which now that I think about it strikes me as really strange.) It is also has a solid little red wine section, with all price points covered, from cheap and nasty to super-premium, with Margaret River unsurprisingly well-represented.(The handful of low-end Italian and Spanish reds could stand to be augmented with some more impressive drops.) Part of the same complex of buildings as White Salt, it’s also well-positioned. After exploiting White Salt’s excellent happy hour, one can pick up a few bottles more at BWS before hightailing it home. If you’re lucky, you might stumble in on a winery tasting and be able to sneak a couple of small plastic cups of something while browsing. As with most bottle shops, there are savings to be made when you buy six or more bottles, and given you can get Qantas Frequent Flyer points with every purchase it makes sense to stock up as often as possible. Or maybe I’m just making excuses to drink…
