The bartenders are a bunch of scammers. I bought 4 drinks and the bartender said $ 34. I gave her $ 54 and she didn’t give me any change. When I confronted her, she motioned as if she had given me cash and tried to make a scene. She talked to her manager and tried to plead her case and he took her side. I told him exactly what went down but he didn’t believe me and said that the bartender gave me a $ 10. Anyone with the IQ of a kangaroo could figure out that $ 10 is not the difference so I called him out. He went to the cash register, took out a $ 20, and slapped it in my hand. Long story short, the bartenders here are shady.

I can’t believe I got conned into paying a $ 20 cover for this place!!! FYI, I never pay a freaking cover. Why the fuck would I pay a cover? You should pay me to grace you with my fucking presence! I’m only half joking and still drunk typing this. Proceed with caution. Yeah it was alright, some fancypants dj was here and it was my friend’s birthday and she really wanted to come in, and they wouldn’t budge on the cover, so it was like okkaaaaaayyyyyyyy. Boo. The dj was alright. It was a step up from Hugo’s. But not wow(Miguel Migs? Idk & dgaf). The venue is not to shabby at all. I like the somking area. Apart from the smoke and shit. I mean I don’t smoke, but you can see and talk to people on the street. I like that.

A very nice place. I was invited here for a birthday party and had a really fun night at this place. When we arrived it was already quite crowded, but we had a tables so that wasn’t really a problem. They had live music on and we ordered some pizzas, which I dare say were pretty decent for a place like this as I’m not a real fan of bars offering food. However this place proved me wrong and we even ordered take away after the party was over. The decoration is very nice and stylish. The lights are dimmed and give the place a very mysterious vibe. As for the staff they were all really friendly and even though the place was crowded they didn’t have a problem with bringing our food and drinks really fast. All in all this place is a nice hang out spot with friends a place for meeting new people, although I find it a bit on the pricey side.

I love combining learning + drinking. I feel like one cancels out the other, leaving you on an even keel and no worse off than when you started. Possibly better off than when you started. So it was with Goldfish. Every weeknight these guys have one of the most remarkable Happy Hours in town. From 6pm to 8pm you get 49% off ALL food & drink items. That’s right, all of them. No select deals. No weeny Slovakian craft beers you’ve never heard of. Everything, from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z. I wondered aloud why it was 49% off, and not 50%, it being a nice round number. The bartender happened to be in earshot, and sauntered over — still mixing a fabulous concoction — and informed me it was illegal in NSW to do 50% off alcohol, one of those archaic laws that won’t be reviewed or repealed for centuries, like in Kentucky you can only walk clockwise around town on a Sunday and only with one shoe one and that shoe can’t be a Croc, God help you if that shoe is a Croc. Now, here’s the real killer: happy hour doesn’t just go from 6−8pm. It goes from 6 to 10pm. WHATTHEWHAT. That’s insane! Four hours of power. Yes, oh yes. But. .. why the disconnect with the sign? Sayeth the barman: «That’s just what we have to tell Them.»(They being officialdom, presumably). «But we like to give it up for our customers.» I’m one of those customers. And I like it. 5 gold stars.

Every time I’ve been to The Goldfish in Kings Cross has been quite late so my memory can be a bit sketchy at times although I guess it’s convenient that I haven’t tried to go there during the day because it’s not open! The last time I went I realised you could actually order food at this place which I noticed when a waiter came over with a plate of calamari and pork(I think!) skewers which a friend had ordered. I also realised there was a cocktail and wine list which I realised because I was focusing on it for about half an hour and a jug of Singapore Slings later between us the night got a touch hazier! If you want to escape the noise inside it’s worth trying to snare a table in the enclosed court yard. It’s a pretty fun place to go to that’s open late. Good luck with your memory, I know I need it!

Goldfish is unexpectedly nice, especially for a bar located on the same block as Porky’s and the former Dragonfly, a.k.a. Tunnel. Between the cool honeycomb style exterior and the curtains, you can’t see too much from the outside. However, mood lighting and plush leather sofas comprise the interior of this upmarket cocktail bar. It actually all combines to look like something out of Deus Ex. I have generally visited on weeknights and in my experience, it has been a little quiet on these evenings. But this isn’t a bad thing: faster drink service and a more chilled out ambiance makes it a great option for a semi-intimate evening in an area generally bereft of these options. Or, alternatively, look at it as a place to catch up with a close friend — you can actually hear yourself in here(and to a less important degree, your friends) which is one of those underrated features that seems to slip under the radar.

The Goldfish Bowl has upped it’s market irom the Crest Hotel that used to fill this spot at the edge of Kings Cross’s notorious Darlinghurst Rd strip. This used to be such a seedy backpackers dive bar! With the introduction of nightly live entertainment and a cocktail bar and clean toilets, it’s unrecognisable from the stinky-carpeted Bowl of previous times… so much so that it was nominated for a Bar Of The Year award and has opened a second venue in the Hunter Valley. The tunes are funk & grooves, the bar’s open late, and cocktails are just ten bones on Sundays. Ooooh yeahhhh…

So I’m pretty picky when it comes to clubs. I don’t like going to places where the music isn’t great. Lucky for me The Goldfish on a Friday has got some good house music playing and also offers free entry in a well designed venue that’s close to Kings Cross Station. I often come here with friends at about ten, when it’s not too busy and there’s isn’t a line out front. The bouncers here can either be welcoming and nice or on a power trip. The last time I went and was about to walk in, the bouncer told me «hey buddy, what are you doing, you just walk past me, what do you think you’re doing…» After some more rambling he then checked our IDs and we went in. In my opinion though, the bouncer can really add to the mix of how much I like a place and if I’ll go back. The bouncer is really the first point of contact a person has with a club before they’re in and this can really set the mood for the rest of your night. Even a rude door person at an establishment can leave a sour taste in your otherwise pleasant night. Apart from the bouncers though, this place also has some other good features like cheap cocktails on Sunday night and discounts on food during the week. Also watch out for the taps in the bathroom, they’re operated by a foot controlled button at the bottom of the sink.

The Goldfish is situated on one of the main roads in Kings Cross and is surprisingly classy compared to its competitors. They serve fabulous cocktails and the bartender is only too happy to recommend one or two if you are undecided. Beware though, that the cocktails are incredibly strong! There is plenty of seating, which is welcome considering many bars and clubs have very little. The atmosphere is very relaxed and on a Sunday evening entry is free. The bar is beautifully decorated with mood lighting and fabulous furnishings. Goldfish is a place to start the night out at, not end up.

The first time I walked into The Goldfish i was blown away by the dim lights and luxurious décor. I was surprised by its sophistication and I had a feeling I was going to become a regular… and I have been… I’ve never been there on the weekend but I have been during the week and although its a bit quiet, i do feel like a VIP. I’ve only drank the cocktails and they have such an awesome variety I suggest you check them out… The Unisex bathrooms reminds me of Ally McBeal and I kind of get the feeling everyone here in on their best behaviour…(no one wants to scare off the other gender) A great place to take a date during the week… its gets my thumbs up!

Goldfish Bar in King Cross never fails to greet its guests with a vibrant, welcoming ambiance. Perfect lighting, elegant couches, wonderful music and awesome service are just part of what makes your visit really worthwhile. Goldfish Bar is open seven days a week from 6PM til late. That means a whole week filled with great music, scrumptious Asian-Mediterranean food and very nice cocktails! Up for some interesting mixes? I suggest you check out Voodoo Lady, a drink laced with chocolate and fresh chili. If you’re on the safe side, their simple yet exquisite-tasting Tommy’s Margarita is a fine choice. For people looking for an excellent late night hangout or an awesome venue to celebrate a special event, do check out Goldfish Bar. Highly recommended!
