Worst place we went to on our trip to Sydney. First of all they overcharged us for drinks. $ 35 for 2 double tall Jameson & ginger ale drinks. The bartender didn’t even know what Jameson or ginger ale was. She had a line of 3 people waiting in the empty bar as she took 10 minutes to figure out how to make the drinks & another 5 minutes to ring them up. Secondly we requested for the Stanley Cup game to be put on one of the larger tvs. The only person who could change the channel was the manager who didn’t come out for over half an hour after we requested several employees to change the channel. When she did come out she didn’t apologize or change the channel so we left since the first period was already over. The place is dirty, dingy, & there is a much better sports bar a block away, Vegas. It was only $ 14 for the same drink order, the staff is friendly & it’s a pretty cool atmosphere.

Well, it’s a sports bar in that it has pool tables and screens dotted around the place showing sports. It has also carpet, really dirty carpet! Seriously, in Kings Cross, why would you have a carpeted bar?! One positive is that it doesn’t have the pretentiousness that many of the other local establishments have, which makes it acceptable to visit if you’re not in the mood for a swanky, show-offy night and you’re trying to save a few dollars. Plus, if you want to see some of the local alcos — this place is perfect! They even sit in the window for you in the morning when you’re walking to the train station, making you feel better about yourself!

The Dragon Lounge(The Crest Sports Bar) in Kings Cross, does not have a dragon, nor does it have a lounge which looks like a dragon, this is very disappointing to me. What the Dragon Lounge does have is lots of sport on TV screens everywhere you look, this is also disappointing to me(but it is a sports bar, so I have no one to blame but myself). What the Dragon Bar has which does not disappoint me is $ 12 steak with chips and salad, which is served with a glass of wine(or beer if you prefer). Being a bit short of cash right now, this is very handy. The food is not bad, it is not exceptional either, but for twelve bucks I am not complaining. If you are a sports nut, this place might be heaven for heaven for you but the atmosphere does very little for me, but I’ll still go for the twelve dollar meal.

My experience here was mixed. It’s right at the centre of Kings Cross, right by all the action. However if you’ve got a room on the Darlinghurt Rd side, the noise from the prostitutes and drunks at night can be really annoying. Our first room was on this side, and it made sleeping difficult. The room wasn’t great, either: a bit tatty. We asked for an upgraded room on the other side for following nights, and it was much better. It was smaller, but finished much more nicely. And it was higher up and faced the city centre, so we had no night noise at all.
