Raw food certainly has its time and place(shout out to the paleolithic period) but I’ve had enough medjool date caramel and nut protein balls to last an eon. I was craving a sweet afternoon treat to go with jasmine tea(#friyay) and hopped on my bike to visit an old friend: Source Foods Café. I picked up a vegan and gluten free muesli cookie, and mentally bookmarked half the dishes I wanted to come back for. There are plenty of places peddling organic, local and seasonal food, but what makes Source Foods Café different is that they were one of the first. Somewhat of a quiet achiever in the Perth café scene, the remarkably extensive menu has breakfast and lunch options featuring ethically sourced meats, local produce, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Everything has handy acronyms so you can decipher what suits your body. The drinks menu is impressive too! Organic coffee, interesting herbal teas, Kommunity Brew kombucha, creative smoothies and colourful juices. Found in between Northbridge and Highgate, the café does fill up but you still feel welcome to linger with weekend newspapers or a good book. Plant-based food lovers and weekend brunchers, check out Source Foods Café for a nutritious meal and rediscover a Perth gem.

Yum food! The words«gluten free» and«organic» can often disguise the reality of your choice of food but there are very healthy options on the menu which is difficult to find sometimes when looking for a nice bite to eat on a day out and still feel good about it.

A bit of a go-to for lunch because of the tasty options and the calm atmosphere. They usually have quesadillas on the menu, which I would recommend. They also have salads, sandwiches, bagels and burgers. Good vegetarian option, as well as raw desserts and a good selection of hot drinks and juices. They also offer red espressos and drip coffee.

Super friendly staff, yummy healthy food, what more could you ask for! Really appreciate the fact that they have free wi fi, which is always a bonus.

Ever since I discovered Source Foods, I can’t stop raving about this delightful café. The standout point for me, is the fact that they use fresh, organic, locally sourced produce. Low mileage food means they support local growers and the food retains its freshness, as it travels the shortest possible distance before it hits your plate. Another salient point is the fact that all palates and preferences are catered to. Every one is included, so vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters are all welcome! If I lived closer to Source Foods, I would probably give up cooking and just eat all my meals there. I must mention the fact that the juices are amazing and make you feel more alive and more radiant with every sip. You can almost feel the goodness coursing through you and nourishing your body as nature intended. The macchiato is a world of its own, so creamy and tasty you can drink it without sugar! I must recommend the dish I had the other morning as it was pure perfection. The dish I speak of is the smashed pea bruschetta with the wild mushrooms, the eggs and the truffle oil. I did not know how good mushrooms could taste till I tried these, drove me a little wild I must say! The truffle oil drizzled on top certainly enhanced the flavour and made it more interesting. The smashed peas were packed with flavour and a nice change from avocado also the texture of the peas was perfect. The juices I have tried are the Super Green Smoothie and the Health Nut and found them both rich in colour and so full of flavour. I have also indulged in a Vonut, yes, it is a thing — a vegan donut and loved every bite of it. The décor is fresh and fabulous and the lovely potted plants give the place a living energy. I love the coloour scheme as sea foam is my favourite colour. The staff are friendly, well informed and competent. They provide an excellent level of service and do it with a smile. The young lass who served us was fantastic and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience! Food prepared with love and served by people with heart, what more could you ask for?

I’ve been to many vegetarian/vegan restaurants but this one particularly blows me away. First and foremost, I give credit to the quality of the produce they use, it’s fresh and tasty. Next, the creativity and originality of designing the menu options. I had the pan fried Brussels sprouts with fresh herbs, avocado and smooth white beans, that was a pretty unique dish. Not your typical English breakfast place, everything presented has been given great though. Yes, very healthy freshly squeeZed juice, not many cafés do that! Also they stock my friends raw desserts, by solace alternative. Service was efficient, friendly and quick. No long queues or loud laughing customers. Great for people who want a quiet coffee spot to hang. Definitely a regular hangout place for me!

It’s all about the atmosphere. Small and cozy at the café may be, the atmosphere is always buzzing in here! We walk from the office every morning to stretch the legs and grab a coffee, it’s become our new local and we are happy to support this fantastic business! The coffee can be a hit and miss sometimes, it all depends really on your barista. Nonetheless, we will keep venturing out for that cup every morning to be greater with a welcoming smile. The food there is amazing too! Not the cheapest, but you certainly know it’s come from a hard working farmer down the road so I am more than happy to pay an extra dollar and support the locals.

me and my friends love it here, my friend recently moved into an apartment close by so we stumbled by it. The quality of the food is awesome, and the twits on traditional dishes are awesome, its great to try somewhere that doesn’t have the same old stuff, but you can still get an awesome fry up on Sunday morning. Coffee is amazing. and the Juices are delicious. a bit on the pricey side, but defiantly worth a visit.

Love this place, it’s never so busy it takes forever to get your coffee or food. Regularly come here on a Sunday cause it’s a relaxed vibe with just really good produce. Options are made to order and cabinet food. A lot of the food is locally sourced(this the name!). The coffee is from their own blend done by Pound Roasters. Come along, check it out. So much easier than visiting the high street up the road Beaufort

It’s all thanks to Unilocal that I was able to find this place so thanks all you fantastic Unilocalers! I really would have never known about this place had it not been for you so thank you. So my review, this place was fan-tastic. Café type/casual feel and you go up to the counter and order, but the food was delicious and I really appreciated the health food approach. Organic, healthy and fresh ingredients, vegan and vegetarian friendly, I just wish the toast I ordered would have been whole wheat but that was seriously my only complaint. I ordered the poached eggs with toast and it was delicious. I also got the Super Green Smoothie and oh my gosh! I did not give green smoothies enough credit because this drink was incredible! Are green smoothies always this good or are there’s just unusually amazing? Because this drink seriously tasted incredible. According to the sign it had lemon, spinach, ginger, banana, apple, and kale– that’s it! It was so sweet and delicious, I couldn’t believe it. It was also served in a mason glass jar and topped with a spinach leaf so I felt all fancy and proper drinking it surrounded with british and australian natives. haha sorry I kind of have an obsession with the accent here. The café had a nice ambiance as well, the menu had a chalkboard/hipster look to it and the décor was very organic and sort granola/hippy-ish. I liked that though :) I also loved the super sweet and friendly staff, they were so nice! I appreciated that they didn’t make fun of me when I had to slowly count out my $ 1 and $ 2 coins.(I’m American so still trying to get used to the currency here.) Overall I would happily go back. I wish they’d come to the States!

I tried the«green juice.» $ 8. Pretty satisfied considering a lot of cafes charge this much for a pretty small juice, and this one came in a nice and big mason jar. My only complaint was the girl at the cash register. I politely asked before ordering what time they closed,(because I know how annoying it is when someone comes in right before you close) but she said they closed at 3pm, and it was just past 2 that I had walked in. Yet this sassy tart gave off the impression that she didn’t want me there and everything seemed to be an «annoyance.» This is sad, especially because the other girl who ran my drink out to me was rather pleasant, but perhaps, Source, you need to change your FOH staff. For this reason, I wi not be returning.

I’ve only ever been here twice for coffee, but each time the experience was pleasing. I was made to feel welcome, the coffee was delicious, there was ample newspapers & seating, free wifi and, I was tempted by the delicious food on offer… unfortunately I did not have the time to eat. There was heaps of organic produce on offer, and I would imagine this sort of establishment would have a range of gluten-free options. A true gem for residents & workers in the area! Edit 4÷01÷14 — I can confirm, the food here is delicious too. Had a organic beef burger & relaxing here when Lara Bingle & Sam Worthington enter and order some food… celebrity endorsement!

I love source foods. Organic, fresh & healthy but most importantly I have never had a bad meal here. The vegan breakfast is massive & really yum, and the Swiss delight is also amazing. It’s also open on Friday nights for burger night. Try the T-burger, best tempeh ever & it’s so massive I can eat half & be full.

I love Source. This is a forward thinking café of the future, prepared to embrace healthy and sustainable living and not shun individual food requirements like they are a ‘disability’. Their chicken and avocado salad sandwich is my favourite and my regular lunchtime pleasure whenever I am in the neighborhood. What hasn’t been spoken about though is the quality of their coffee — it is really good. 5 stars guys, keep it up.

What was I thinking with that 4 star review? Not good enough. Source, how I love thee. Always my first port of call when I want a light, healthy lunch that doesn’t rely on meat for yums. Rabbit food I hear you say? No siree! Along with slim lovin’ salads you can get comforting meals like organic burgers and sandwiches stuffed with tasty fillings and my mum’s personal favourite– the cheesy bean quesadilla. Nom nom. I always steal a few bites! My personal favourite is the giant T burger. What else? I’ve never had to wait for a table, the service is friendly every time, its in my ‘hood and even though they’ve passed ownership a few times over the past year, the standard has never subsided. Everything about this place is just so down to earth. Love.

My office is literally 100 metres away from Source and having been there at least once a week for lunch over the past 6 months I can definitely vouch for their amazing burgers. The team in our office will call up for a take away order and wander down 10 minutes later to pick up a round of the steak sandwiches or recently I have been moving on to the Tandoor Chicken burger which I highly recommend. If the awesome flavours aren’t enough to get you down there then it is always nice knowing that the food you are eating has been sourced from local producers!

I’ve tried to go to Source two times now. I live literally a block away and can see their lights. Both times I’ve been craving a burger(including once on a Saturday at 6:18 p.m.), they have been closed. I don’t get it. At what time do you start serving burgers? My partner has called in addition to these other mentioned times and was told at 5:30 p.m. that they aren’t open yet. I suppose the only thing that has pushed us to keep sussing out a burger from here is proximity and the fact that my partner has tried them and can vouch for their«goodness». However, I’m losing faith quickly. And, as a restaurant, please have a functional website. It isn’t hard to include a .pdf link of your menu. Super simple, indeed. «The new website coming soon» at this point is just a tease.

I had a friend visit from interstate recently and he insists on organic food only so I figured Source Foods would be ideal. Indeed it is for healthy, gourmet, organic foods. And the kitchen doesn’t skimp on servings. I ordered an ‘O’ burger packed with organic beef patties, roasted beetroot, stacks of lettuce, tomato and carrot, and the most delicious home-made mayo. The burger is stacked so high, in fact, you get a sore jaw from taking your first bite. It’s worth the stretch, though. And at just $ 12, it beats dashing down to the new Macdonalds up the road for a factory-made ‘value’ meal. Even the fries here taste better. It’s as though Source really do stick by their wholesome guns. Every mouthful tastes less greasy, less fattening, less hormone-laden than your average burger.

Credit must be given where credit is due and I aptly take my hat off to Source of whom were amongst the early adopters to embrace the idea of using local, sustainable foods. As they say all good things that exist are the fruits of originality. This can be said of Source and the approach they take to providing delicious food and coffee in a sustainable manner. The Beaufort St location was daring initially but the locals and believers have warmed to both the café and the concept and many of the inhabitants of the surrounding areas share the same principles as Source. The service is warm and friendly with a young and vibrant team onboard. Source is a great place to sit with friends and watch the traffic roll down Beaufort St or stare out over the neighbouring park with a coffee that you know has been produced in a manner in which everyone wins — especially you!
