Nice little place! Huge selection of vegan options, which are clearly marked on the menu. Generous portion sizes, which include rice, and they both tasted great. I picked two random tofu veg dishes off the menu and we were happy with both! The meals came out hot and tasted fresh. They also do BYO with no corkage which is awesome. Looks like they have a nice selection of cakes and desserts as well but unfortunately I couldn’t indulge as they all contained animal products. Hopefully they will offer some vegan dessert options soon! :) I think this is a great place for really nicely priced food($ 11.50 per meal and big portions!). It is also a karaōke bar so if you’re into that then you can have a few bevvies and get singing! Great location too, in the heart of Northbridge. I recommend to vegans, veggies and omni’s alike! :)

I really respect what Utopia have got going on with their all Vegetarian/Vegan menu(hence the 4 stars), however I’m not a huge fan of the venue and some of the dishes. We had the Fried Rice(Vegan), Deep Fried Dumplings(I think) and a vegan noodle dish I don’t remember the name of. The fried rice was yummy, but the other two fell short and were a bit odd tasting. Utopia feels like a cafeteria, and smells pretty weird. They were also playing music videos with lyrics on the big TV but the lyrics didn’t match the videos.

Love how Utopia NB served vegetarian food. I really like the BBQ vegetarian meat platters and the food tasted really good too. They used to have tom yum steamboat and it was really delicious with a lot of seafood.

Do you feel like singing your little heart out while simultaneously eating awesome Asian food? Actually, perhaps don’t do it simultaneously. I tried. The food at Utopia(all vegetarian and vegan) is fast, consistent and delicious, available at hours where often other places in Northbridge are closed. As a bonus, Utopia has private karaōke suites and you can bring food up there. It’s like having your own private restaurant karaōke bar. Heaps of fun, great atmosphere, perfect for big group gatherings and totally worth a little bit of indigestion when you try to belt out Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ while eating fried rice.

Not my first time here… won’t be the last either! I think I’m going to have to document each flavour of Bubble Tea they have available because that’s probably how many times I’ll be going back there. Lol. Flavour: Apple Green Tea(no milk) Toppings: Green Apple Jelly Verdict: This is probably one of my favourite flavours of all the ones they have available. The hotter the weather… the better this drink is. Trust me on that.

Who would have thought utopia had such a quirky sense of humour?! Only last week did I stumble onto the utopia in Northbridge. Well hidden up the stairs from the Northbridge arcade this vego and vegan friendly establishment is everything you’d expect if you were to come across a karaōke bar, noodle bar and bubble tea café hybrid. The counter looks like a delicatessen with an array of cakes. For me, I enjoyed taking the menu with me as I located a comfy seat on a couch along the back wall, in arms reach of a bookshelf while I selected tempting treats to write down on my order form. There’s something nostalgic about order forms that take me back to school lunch order days. I was there with a friend who is quite the seasoned Utopia-goer and was able to explain the process to avoid unnecessary waiting. This is an ‘order at the counter” service and when the order is ready, it will be delivered to your table. We mused over the menu which had several«vegetarian» markers over«chicken noodles» and«beef slices” — a little confused I asked the waitress to explain and she clarified that they don’t use real animal products in the vegetarian meals. They just call it chicken, but it’s not chicken– how«Alice in Wonderland», I wasn’t game to chance it on that particular occasion, but it was worth knowing for future reference. I selected a bubble tea– and am often surprised when«jelly» toppings come out in rectangles and not bubbles. Rectangular tea doesn’t have the same ring to it. Reasonably priced and a great atmosphere– a sanctuary in the city to refuel.

I started going to this restaurant about 4 years ago, to start with it was simply for bubble tea, they have perfected it. I have tried bubble tea else where but perhaps it is because this is where my first experience with it was, or maybe because it is actually just delicious. The strawberry milk tea with sago is just to die for. I have tried a few different flavours, the original milk tea being another favourite of mine. I decided after a few years of getting bubble tea here to try eating in the restaurant. I am a vegetarian and this is a vegetarian restaurant so I felt it was perfect for me. I was slightly confused as meat is mentioned in most dishes, I was quickly informed that the meat is a soy alternative, which I think is great. I didn’t stop eating meat because I didn’t like the taste, so to have a restaurant that still keeps a meat like taste to the meals with actually using meat, is great. The food is delicious, and I have been back for food there quite a few times.

I am most certainly a carnivore, I usually avoid vegetarian alternatives. Utopia, however, offers delicious soy meat alternatives to a variety of Asian meals. Curries, soups and stir fries line the menu, although there’s probably a bit too much on there. Bubble tea is also available as a drink, though the unmissable item is the crispy fried chicken. I could live off of that. Maybe I will.

Scanning the Utopia menu I was confused. After reading it was a vegetarian restaurant I was puzzled to find the words«pork», «chicken», «crab», «beef» marked all over the menu, I couldn’t’ find one item with just vegetables! Then I realized these are all Vegetarian ‘meats’. Foods created to imitate the taste and texture of seafood, poultry and red meat. I haven’t yet been encouraged to try these simulation ‘meat’ dishes, but when I’ve popped up in for a bubble tea in the afternoon, the restaurant has been packed with people. The Bubble tea take’s a little longer for each order, because the kitchen has bigger fish to try(excuse the pun), but the service is still warm like the other branches. I have found the bubble teas to be less sweet however, so make sure if you usually ask for«half sugar» to only ask for«less sugar».

Utopia is indeed a restaurant serving quality food and drinks but what brings me here regularly is not the food, it is the Karaōke. You heard me! There is quite a large Karaōke centre beside the restaurant with a selection of large and small rooms and an even larger selection of songs. You can squeeze 10⁄12 friends into the smaller rooms if needed but try and opt for the bigger fancier ones. Its BYO so a cheap night out is guaranteed, plus its open until the early morning so you can please the non-singers with a bit of a night out on the town first. I have always had quite a giggle here and even though we were a bit raucous, no-one asked us to quieten down or leave.
