I would have to start by saying my impression has gone down slightly from my last dine. When I first reviewed the restaurant it was based on a group experience. I decided to bring my wife in on the experience this time and the menu had been updated slightly since then. The pros: Lovely French atmosphere, Quality food, and a friendly staff. The cons: Slightly difficult parking, Tables for 2 feels overly small, If you’re located by the door(as we were) it feels squished in. The complementary bread received before in my group visit, in a basket and a plenty, was only one baguette each when I came as a couple. My experience and expectation: The parking was difficult as an event was going on outside(not the restaurants fault). Paid parking was available adjacent the park nearby at $ 2.50 p/h. The food was good but not to my wife’s tastes. The wait staff picked up on that and was pleasant but understood we wouldn’t be spending much. I was hoping they would have chicken but they had duck and she doesn’t like duck(again not the fault of the restaurant). In the end not a great romantic experience.

Petit Ardoise recently changed owners so I gathered up the girls, put on my judgy pants and prepared to try out the menu and see if it still awesome. The good news is that the food and service remained impeccable. The bad news is that the décor no longer resembles the set of ‘allo allo’. Now I’m sure that appeals to the majority classy crowd but I quite enjoyed the kitsch décor crowded all over the walls. It had a very European feel. Nonetheless it did not take away from my food. We started with a champagne cocktail which was refreshing and lovely at the recommendation of the waiter. Perfect! The warm bread brought out to us was delightful. The snails lovely and creamy. The pâté rich and the terrine was delicious. All good sizes to share for 4 people. For mains we had 2 venison racks, 1 duck confit and 1 steak. Each was perfectly done. We were terribly sad that the cassole was no longer on the menu. It was such a favourite. I pulled through and ordered the duck. I can’t resist duck and this didn’t disappoint. It was juicy and there was a lot of meat. Heaven! We finished off with a cheeseboard, cognac and peach melba. All insanely good. Well done petit ardoise. You passed the test, we will be back again.

Love, love, love this restaurant. Been a few times and have always left very satisfied. The French certainly know how to cook a steak and the dessert tasting plate is an absolute must! I would definitely recommend booking a table as it’s chockers most nights.

We thought we would try this little French Restrauant, firstly they were running late, secondly we waited nearly half an hour for our bottle of wine after a little promoting. We were handed a basket of bread(not on the menu) we were charged $ 14 for 4 tiny bread rolls. We ordered the escargots, sauce was ok the snails were so bland. Then after an hour plus our main course arrived, the twice cooked Duck was beautiful. The organisation of this place does not exist . Would I return No.

One step inside P’tite Ardoise and I am instantly transported into a French Bistro in Paris. The atmosphere and ambience was cosy and romantic with soft French music playing in the background. We were also offered a choice of bread to choose from mini baguettes, seeded to herbed dinner rolls with accompaniments to the bread from olive oil, butter spread and a salty olive tapenade. Whenever I am in a French Restaurant, snails is a must order for me. The snails at P’tite Ardoise is different and definitely not your usual garlic butter snails. Under the toasted circle of crisp buttery bread of each ramekin, lies around four to five snails swimming in the thick and creamy sauce. It was so delicious and the flavours worked very well with each other. I had the Sauteed Beef Fillet Flambee($ 39). The Sauteed Beef Fillet Flambee Cognac also comes with Potato Tartiflette, Cherry Tomato and Jus. My dish arrived in a hot cast iron Le Creuset pot, the same as mum’s Bouillabaisse. The little beef fillet pieces were so succulent and juicy. If you love your cheese you will love this dish too. The melted blue cheese on the potato tartiflette was delicious and the cherry tomato is an explosion in your mouth. This was definitely one hearty and satisfying dish — I loved it. Always leave space for desserts at a French restaurant as we all know French desserts and pastries are to die for. I decided to go for the Lemon Vacherin($ 15) which consists of meringue, lemon sorbet and curd, strawberry and rhubarb. Because mum told the manager that it was my birthday, he surprised me with a candle on top of the Lemon Vacherin dessert accompanied by a Happy Birthday song from him and another waitress. I must say that the Lemon Vacherin looks and tastes amazing. The sweet and sour flavours marries each other well. It was such a lovely dessert — not too sweet or sour, it was just perfect. I really had a great night at P’tite Ardoise and everything was executed well from the start to finish and also, food and service. Now I know why P’tite Ardoise Bistro is so popular and has such a good rating. After our first visit to P’tite Ardoise, I decided that I have to make a second visit again one day! I highly recommended P’tite Ardoise for authentic French food with a nice, charming atmosphere perfect for dates, that special occasion, birthdays or maybe a nice catch up with friends over fine food.

Beautiful, intimate and the embodiment of a Parisian café, this restaurant plays to the classic strengths of French cuisine. The snails are delicious, as is the boudin noir — they really know how to showcase produce in the best light possible. Always save room for dessert — they’re amazing!

another favourite of mine! the staff are friendly and they make you feel like you are in Provencal France. This delightful French restaurant knows how to cook their duck and their beef. But I must say their desserts are to die for. For a quaint and fulfilling meal, this is the place. It’s good for dates, celebratory dinners but I wouldn’t recommend it for large groups simply because it’s such a tiny place and you be squashed!

As per the previous reviews, this delightful French restaurant cooks their beef exceptionally! I am a lover of beef, and they just nail it, and their jus. Also, I am generally not a lover of desserts, but I’ve loved all the sweet stuff I have tasted here! It is just a small restaurant, very cosy indeed, but that works in their favour. It adds to the homeliness of their food, and it actually speaks volumes. Seriously, for a quaint and fulfilling meal, try this place. Good for dates, celebratory meals or even just to enjoy some lovely food with friends, but it is a bit on the pricier side.

I’m really bummed to be changing my review. But, my hope is Management will read this and hopefully set the bar higher here in Perth. My complaint? Dress code. I considered P’tite Ardoise Bistro a fine-dining restaurant. I dressed for the occasion. I wore tights, heels, pearls, etc. — nothing that screams«comfort». Based on the patron that was allowed to dine-in adorning a sweatshirt, sweatpants and sneakers, apparently P’tite Ardoise is an athletic apparel store or maybe a gym. You see, I too own sweatshirts and sweatpants. I could have just as easily thrown these on and ate my(delicious) steak dinner in the comfort of stretchy pants. It would have saved me a heck of time too. But, I was under the impression, perhaps falsely, that there was a dress code — something that is revered. I am dismayed. This is not McDonalds. The prices here do not reflect fast-food prices; the menu selections do not reflect this either. There is more to fine-dining than warm rolls and crème brûlée. An enforced dress-code maintains an ambiance far more than dim-lighting. On a positive note, the food and service was impeccable as always.

This is probably the only place in Perth that I will remember for a long time. Exceptional steak, very nice desserts, very authentic atmosphere and last, but not least — the only place I have found Calvados. THEPLACE for special occasions.

Words can’t even begin to describe how in love with this place I am. The food is better than anywhere I have even eaten, the staff are so nice and friendly, the rooms are cosy and my favourite part comes when you go to the till to pay(you will just have to go and see what I mean!). Definintely somewhere to take someone you are hoping to impress.

I’ve fallen in love with French food and culture, and since returning from Paris a few months ago, I’ve been on a mission to visit every French restaurant, café and patisserie in Perth. And I was not disappointed here! The décor is beautiful — cosy and intimate, with little authentic touches that reminded me a lot of Paris. The staff are FANTASTIC! They are attentive and knowledgable without being intrusive, and all have a lovely manner, but most importantly, they actually seem to be enjoying their work, and were very professional while still engaging with the customers. We didn’t make a booking on a Friday night, and the restaurant seemed busy, but they were happy to make room for us. We were immediately offered drinks and a menu, and the food came out quite promptly after we ordered. Bread was delivered periodically while we waited also! Then came the food… we ordered the entrée special, and for the life of me, still don’t know what we ate, but I loved it! The flavours were so unique and seemed to work so well together. The cut of veal I had was so tender and perfectly cooked, and I loved the creamy mashed potatoes. It was beautifully presented. My only disappointment is that I couldn’t fit in room for dessert! I will definitely be back for the crème brûlée!

Top class restaurant, lovely ambiance, pleasant and friendly staff, well versed in the dishes on offer on the menu. My main course of beef cheek was the most tender, succulent and delicious piece of beef I have ever eaten! Classic French fare, made to perfection. Dessert favourites to die for… crème brûlée, ile flottante, chocolate soufflé pudding. So yummy! I will be returning… often! How lucky I am that this restaurant is in my neighbourhood.

My boyfriend and I tried this place out for a cozy date spot. We had excellent service and ordered a three course meal. We started out with escargot which was interestingly served in a tomato based sauce with cheese and crispy bread on top. It was delicious but reminded me of an Italian dish with the tomato and herbs. For our mains I got the duck confit which was beautifully cooked and very rich. I would highly recommend this dish if you’re dining here! For dessert we shared the tasters platter which came with three desserts. The crème brule was delicious, I wish we got just the crème brule so we could eat more of it! Highly recommend for a great date spot or if you’re really craving some authentic French food.

I went on recommendation and have been recommending it to others ever since. It is rare in Perth these days to receive a high-quality meal in nice surroundings and for a reasonable price. I tried unsuccessfully to get a booking on a Friday or Saturday for several weeks before settling on a tuesday. It is that popular. We skipped entrée and had the eye fillet steak and the Snapper for mains(only about $ 35 each and bigger then we needed). Despite the tug of fullness from our bellies we still squeezed in the Poached Pear and the trio for dessert(about $ 12 each). With that, 2 glasses of wines and coffees and we still got change from $ 135… that doesn’t happen much in Perth! And after all that, Sebastian at the door is charming and adorable as a host — I would go just for him!

This is a great little piece of proper local COSY French restaurant business. For the quality I would not be frightened off by the prices. The size, quality, variety and flavours of the steaks really stack up well. Based on my only visit, the service is very good and there is a real aim to please if you are asking for anything. The desserts are very good and there is a BYO option enabling you to have a fantastic steak and great wine for around $ 50 a head. BYO is $ 10 /$ 5 a head(there were two of us and it was $ 10). Other food options looked good, but I usually don’t have to pay nearly $ 40 for a barramundi. The pâté was very good and kept us going while we made the difficult decision of which steak to have. I’ll be back.

So I’m probably the least qualified person to review a French restaurant in the world considering I think adding bacon and cheese to a whopper makes it gourmet. That said I really enjoyed this place. And yes I’m avoiding typing the name out. I was taken here by my girlfriend at the time and was shitting my pants anticipating formalities but it was great. I had the filet mignon and it was an all time feed. The menu is pretty broad and doesn’t seem too expensive. Really cool authentic little place with great food and atmosphere. Not that I know what I’m talking about.

I had been eager to try this traditional French style Bistro since I noticed it was making the steps toward opening its doors for business in July. The name translates to «Little Blackboard», which makes for a recurring motif around the restaurant. Cute blackboards don the menu, the napkins, the staff uniforms as well as baring the tasty bonne-bouche! The staff greet you genuinely at the door and immediately you feel like you’re in someone’s home in Provencal France. The modest space is decorated in hardwood and mustard yellow. The waiters are doting and all French speaking. The food is traditional French and vegetarians are not forgotten. I was a snails virgin before this night and I definitely chose the right place to try them, because these were delicious. Sealed under a toasted circle of buttery bread and in a luscious sauce of cream, herbs and tomato. A highlight is definitely the sweets. Oh, the French certainly know how to make mean dessert! The Crème Caramel is art piece, presented with a cute Eiffel Tower biscuit. The Île Flottante was divine too; a square of fluffy meringue floating in crème Anglaise. What make the dining experience at P’tite Ardoise so special are the little details. For example, to start, you get to choose from a selection of breads, depending on what takes your fancy(seeded? Herbed? Baguette?). Also, at the end of the meal, they brought around a wooden box brimming with French candies! Another thing that impressed me was when our waitress clued in that we were celebrating a Birthday that night. She surprised our table with miniature cake on a plate, decorated with ‘HAPPYBRITHDAY’ in chocolate. Sweet.
