When the rest of Northbridge is jiving away, this place is dead. I have no idea how it stays open except that maybe people come here to hear their conversation and drink. It’s also a bottle shop in the heart of Northbridge which is great if you need a bottle to head to a BYO restaurant. Last night we got a bottle of very, very average wine for $ 50 and drank it in the restaurant. The atmosphere was creepy and the bar pretty empty. You could literally feel the Brass Monkey next door pulsing with bodies and tunes and then nothing inside the Grapeskin. Not somewhere I will be coming again to drink.

Not even worth one star! Inedible food and slow kitchen. Waited 40 Mins just for 2 bowls of chips a salad and spring rolls. The items did not all come out at the same time. Salmon salad was pathetic and inedible. If you are also a fan of table service that moves at the speed of a glacier then this is the place for you

Great service. Walked in off the street with no booking and was seated within 5 minutes.(There was 5 of us so a table had to be set up.) The steak special $ 12 or comes with a glass of house wine, or beer for $ 15. This also goes with the fish and chips, chicken parmigiana and burger. All served with fries and a side of salad. However as it is the special, my friend could not change her order from chips to mashed potato. Not sure how hard or expensive to do mash over fries? She has previously been able to change to mash and paid an extra $ 2 to do so. Wagyu steak burger was juicy and had a lot of flavour. However he said he would have liked the burger bun lightly toasted. He would not purchase this again but would come back again.($ 19.00) The grazier rib eye(400g) came on bone. Perfectly cooked medium rare with red wine jus. A thick, delicious gravy. This meal really pleased the friend that had been craving steak.($ 39.95) On another note a friend only tried a slice of tomato. It was a big enough of a slice to make the opinion of «it could have been better». :p Will definitely becoming back to try the rump steak on our new project. This venue is apart of the Brass Monkey and shares the same menu.

4 stars for having an in-store bottle shop open later than most joints in NB. I’m also extremely biased because every time I forgot to bring a BYO bottle, Grapeskin has saved my ass from sobriety. That’s a good friend, right there. I come here often for a solo drink, perch on their bar stools and people watch. Alcohol and people watching is a good time and Grapeskin encourages such activities. Their food is good, not great, but good. I do enjoy their chicken burger from time to time. You’re alright, Grapeskin. You’ll always have my business.

Helloooooooooo! This bar possesses a bottle-shop that is open later than any other in Northbridge! When all the other bottle-shops are closed, this place isn’t. Grapeskin has been my saving grace(or not my saving grace, whatever way you look at it) when I’m in-between one bar or restaurant, and on my way to my next stop at a byo karaōke bar or a friend’s place. Halleluiah! I love you Grapeskin, thanks for the memories and loss of memories also!

To be honest, I’m not familiar with this kind of set-up. Alcohol licensing restrictions vary from place to place here in Perth and probably Australia. I come from the land where you can buy beer at gas stations. Grapeskin sells wine to be purchased and consumed off of the property. They have a beer refrigerated selection in the back, but I can’t speak on quantity. The wine selection is decent for being one wall and the price starts around $ 18.00 on up… way up. They have a lot of local WA wines. To me, it seems that Grapeskin is more of an extension of the Brass Monkey. We wanted beer on tap and had to navigate to the bar in Brass Monkey. Then find our way back to the Grapeskin couches. Another American with me purchased a beer from the store-side to drink then and there and that is officially a no-no. Seems like the lines of division are blurred and there is an identity conflict between a tavern and swanky bar.

You can learn the darnedest things while writing reviews for Unilocal. For example, Grapeskin has a food menu! Who would have known? Certainly not me. I roll in here at the end of a night out, either on the hunt for a bottle of vino to take home from their rather excellent late-night bottle shop or to have a chilled out glass of wine with a pal. It’s pretty much the best place in Northbridge for a quiet drink and some conversation, as it’s rarely too loud and the couches are comfy. The wine list is quite extensive but it’s well curated; there’s no nasty surprises on there, so you should feel confident in ordering anything that takes your fancy. There’s not much that could make this place better, save them getting a license to stay open until dawn, but I doubt that will be possible under the current licensing situation. Until then, this is a very cool place to go for some chilled out, grown up, conversational goodtimes.

The Grapeskin is a chic intimate wine bar and restaurant with a relaxed vibe and differs from the Northbridge atmosphere of a more full on, nightlife attitude. Do not come to Grapeskin without ordering the gnocchi and a smooth glass of wine. It is certainly a place to sit and casually drink over a meal however the meals aren’t anything mind blowing. The setting and ambience however is what creates a mood that is slightly seductive especially with the beautiful sound of jazz in the back ground.

Grapeskin is a cellar on William Street. It is a bit different to most of the other bars around the area, in that its focus is on wine. The wine selection is quite extensive, so for wine drinkers, Grapeskin is not a bad choice. The atmosphere at Grapeskin is on the classy side — or, as classy as an establishment on William Street can be. Grapeskin feature some great live music, such as swinging jazz bands, and rock covers bands. Grapeskin is a decent place for wine drinkers to relax, while listening to live music. Although the place can be very loud, so holding conversations is like participating in a public shouting competition.

In my personal opinion, the whole of Northbridge needs and enema. After boarding up a few places worthy of posterity, like New Edition Bookshop and the Heath Ledger Theatre, they could send a man-made tsunami down William Street and let it flow to the sides down James and Aberdeen, knocking down a few rough places in the process. Oh, alright then, Grapeskin should be boarded up, too: it’s not a bad little joint. But could we flush out the attitude-laden staff? I’ve enjoyed some quality wines here, and a decent spot of dinner, but the wait was too long and for no good reason: it was hardly packed. I think management ought to host an imperative meeting here, get their staff to drop the sour grapes façade, and turn this place into something even better than it was a decade ago. Nuff said.
