Please, try the Kangaroo. While you may not much go for the décor, it’s reminiscent of a good 80’s steakhouse. Not pretentious at all, it has an extremely relaxed atmosphere which even the largest of groups can get comfortable and enjoy great food and conversation without any problems getting in the way. Having just had the pleasure of a private tour of the Hotel’s back of house operations with Executive Chef Michael Schmidt and Chef de Cusine Chad Miskievicz, both my good friend and I chose to dine here tonight — and we weren’t at all disappointed. The fact we’d also met this restaurants chef earlier and her happening to mention my favorite dish was on their menu, plus that evening’s dessert special we’d seen on the wall of the pastry chef’s quarters might have influenced our decisions immensely. Needless to say, neither of us were to be disappointed. Both the Kangaroo(my favorite dish) and the striploin were divine, each served with perfect accompaniments which added to the quality of the respective meats — but didn’t take away one bit from enjoyment of the hero meat. The sauces(red win jus, peppercorn and mushroom) which we’d also had the pleasure of finding out just how they make them just worked so perfectly. The hotel also prides itself on getting the best produce for its menus. As much of everything as possible is sources from local suppliers, working directly with them to get seasonal produce of the highest quality. This commitment shines through in the dishes, and I’m confident that when Exec. Chef Michael says he personally samples everything coming into the kitchen on a daily basis — I believe it 100%. Staff here are very attentive, with next to no unnecessary wait times for any help, and dishes for all diners(and not just us two who’d met the chef) came out promptly after ordering. Drinks were also kept topped up, and this was all done in a way that didn’t impede one bit on the dining experience and enjoyment of your meal. Between the two of us, the final bill was more than reasonable for Perth dining prices. Two courses(main meat course and dessert) with two drinks each came in at approx. AUD75 a head, making it a more than affordable and reasonable price for the location and dining experience. All in all, a nice venue, great quality and produce, and well worth a visit if you’re a fan of this cuisine.

Sadly I expected a steak house to cook a steak perfectly to order yet my rare Waygu was served medium rare. Shame as I lost a lot of the smooth texture and sumptuousness due to the edges of the steak being close to medium cooked. The tapas starters on the other hand were tasty and mostly gluten free meaning I could eat most of them.

when I was growing up it was THE place. Went a while ago(a few years) and it wasn’t great. Heard it had been redone. Read a review in a newspaper. Thought I’d go again. Shouldn’t have bothered. It has changed from being in the basement to in the lobby. The menu has changed, but only a bit. Not to many places in Perth that still serve a genuine prawn cocktail. It is now really just a businessblokes hotel restaurant. Steaks, ok, Salad bar not even in the old Pizza Hut class, and a noisy very bright big room. There are now thankfully heaps of places that do better food cheaper. Should have listened to Unilocaler Nathan…

I have mixed feeling about the Adelphi, on one hand it has about the absolutely best range of steaks in Perth and they will be cooked to perfection even if you go in a large group. However the little salad bar to one side is a little uninspiring and the combination of pub and restaurant leaves the place with a very generic feel, so hardly a date night location. When you want a nice steak and do not mind heading under the Parmelia it is worth the trip; perhaps just plan to head down the road afterwards to one. Of the cooler Brookfield Place bars for that nightcap.

I went to this place for breakfast believe it or not… I believe the Hilton uses it as a buffet breakfast location. I wasn’t a fan. Having breakfast in a steak house to start with felt strange enough. The spread wasn’t great, the bacon was like leather, the smoked salmon tasted a bit long in the tooth and unpleasant(it’s not often I won’t finish a serve of smoked salmon, let me tell you) and I think I could of done a better job of the coffee at home. The service was a bit off as well, staff weren’t very inviting and delivering the energy you’d kind of like to be around at 7:30am in the morning when you’re looking to start your day on a positive vibe. There are certainly better options out there for breakfast people, I suggest you choose then. I certainly hope their primary offering as a steak house is better.
