Ok, so this is a steak bar and I ordered salmon — don’t make that mistake! In its core business of big slabs of red meat, Squire’s Loft does well. My wife’s steak was bang on for size, tenderness and the appropriate level of Cook through. The side salad was very pedestrian, your basic iceberg lettuce and tomato affair that could and should be easily improved. We waited over half an hour for food when the restaurant was at best half full — would want to be ready to wait if going in when the place is full. The place could use some noise baffling — conversation required shouting level voices — again, even in a half full place. Pleasantly laid out and attractive, this is a nice place to eat, probably best suited to the groups of men we saw than a romantic night out.

It is what it is, if you’re vego it’s definitely not for you. My husband is a big steak eater and he absolutely raved about his rib eye. It came with really crispy thick chips too. I had the chicken and salad which is a far simpler meal than what I’m accustomed to but Squires does simplicity well! It doesn’t need sauces or dressings or stuffings because its really delicious, well-cooked meat. The basting that comes with it is more than enough flavour. I ordered one of the sauces(green pepper) as well as I thought the meal would be too plain but it really didn’t need it. Also the sauces are a rip off so I wouldn’t bother with them at all. We also had lamb chops for entrée, probably wouldn’t bother with them next time as they weren’t that amazing for $ 16. Service was excellent and the meals all came out so quickly, will definitely be back.
