Went here for a birthday with family. The meals where great, standard table service, so on a busy night can be up to 30 mins, but you don’t go to a steak resturaunt for a quick bite. Kids also loved the kids area, had to drag them out at the end(along with their aligator drinking bottles which weren’t cheap — should be free, but a great novelty item they still use at home). All round a great night out, the family had a ball, and all enjoyed the food and flavours. I’ll give a 5 star, but it’s not a ‘Mortons’ 5 star, but a all round will go again no questioned asked 5 star rating. Way better than Hogs breath steaks…

Very disappointed with this place. We were originally excited to have lunch here. We arrived, and the host seated us promptly. After several minutes, the server came to take our order. 30 minutes later, after not having had any food brought to our table, not seeing our server for quite a while, and seeing people who had been seated after us receive their meals, I asked the host if he could please check on our order. A few minutes later he told us apologetically that the order had not yet been put in. We explained to him that we could not wait any longer. He was very nice and told us the next time we came in he’d give us a discount. I told him I appreciated that. However, I’m a long ways away from home, and I can’t imagine returning. Hopefully this isn’t the norm at Outback Jacks.

If you’re a carnivore like i am, Outback Jacks is a real treat. Dry aged meat, lots of interesting choices and well cooked to order. Not cheap, but good steaks never are. The art’s a fun touch, especially in the loo! A step up from Hogs breath.

The ribs and chicken wings are what caught our eyes on their menu displayed outside the restaurant. They have a kids corner to keep the little ones occupied/entertained which I thought is a great idea. We ordered the slow cooked bourbon pork ribs and 2 servings of the chook wings — 1 serving in mild and the other in ass burner sauce. I have a high tolerance of spicy food so i was quite disappointed with their ass burner sauce which taste like sweet chilli sauce. Dont get me wrong, the chicken wings were still delicious, it just didn’t meet my expectation of hot sauce. The dish of the day would be the slow cooked bourbon pork ribs — Very tender, falls off the bone, great sauce and they serve it with a side of chips and salad. I would definitely come back for their pork ribs and am willing to try out other dishes on their menu. I highly recommend Outback Jack! Talking about their food is making me hungry now.

I’m a frequent visitor to Knox and have eaten at the Ozone many a time but for some reason never ventured into Outback Jack’s until yesterday. We would usually go to Hog’s Breath or Bar Bosh. Really glad we gave it a go. My husband had a steak and Wagyu sausage while I had an Aussie Burger which is apparently exclusive to the Knox restaurant. I haven’t had an Aussie Burger in a while and it was lovely with steak instead of a beef patty. The chips that came alongside it were good too, I had them with ranch dressing but I was so stuffed I couldn’t eat them all. The restaurant is suitable for families and groups who love meat. You can also select your own piece of meat from the front. They have lots of different deals on too, like the kids eat free deal for early in the week. We’ll definitely go again.

Outback Jack’s is a fairly small chain. In fact, I think there are only three in Victoria so far. I think that’s a good thing, becuase usually, the larger the chain, the more the product suffers. I’d say this place is a really good alternative to places like Hog’s Breath, and a fair alternative to the Irish pub that isn’t very far away at all. If you’re looking for a good steak at Knox though, this is one of the best. The prices are fairly reasonable too. Pretty much pub prices for the steaks. They seem to take a lot of pride in the meats that they use, and they’re very clear that the beef is sourced locally. That alone makes it a good choice, but they’re also really well prepared and cooked. I’ll be going back for sure.
