Amazing beef Wagyu sandwich– juicy meat, caramelised onions, toasted crunchy bread. It hit all the right notes and the café itself is cosy. You can also choose to sit outside for a glimpse of Bondi beach. Love it. Would go back for more.

Very nice mug and good quantity of chocolate on the Cappa. Pretty quiet and intimate in here, everyone pretending to do work and listening to our more interesting conversation though.

Good spot for a hot day to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. Cute little café. Got the smoked salmon with cream cheese, capers and the dirty caramel milkshake with 2 shots of coffee! Order & Pay at the counter as the staff didn’t come out to greet us. Food was tasty and the milkshake was pretty good too! Overall, good first time visit!

Great cappuccinos, friendly staff(a little pushy) I’ve been here a few times. Once for a take away cappuccino and another with some friends for coffee and a little brekky. I had the savory mushroom crêpe. It was actually pretty good, and quite filling. :) All in all, I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back but I’d go back if I was in the area.

As noted in other reviews — great coffee. Wait service is spotty but the baristas are friendly. Will head in to try the food the next time I’m in Bondi. It’s a nice place to end up after doing the Coogee-Bondi walk, especially if you’ve timed it for your early morning or brunch coffee.

Great spot near Bondi beach for coffee, wine, beer or spirits. Can’t ask for anything more for your refreshment needs. They also have pastry and sandwich options. We came in quickly for a flat white and check some emails on their free WiFi. Great experience and I would definitely come back.

Absolutely horrible experience here. I ordered a coffee and asked if I could sit and do some work on my laptop. The female server said this was fine but that they had turned the wifi off. Somewhat surprised I said ok and sat down, plugged in my laptop and started to do some work. Two minutes later the male barista came over and pulled my computer plug out of the wall. All that was said was ‘and we don’t do power.’ What a joke. What kind of coffee shop a) doesn’t turn wifi on for their customers when they have it and b) doesn’t allow paying customers to plug in a laptop? Very disappointed given the other reviews I had read.

Spent half a day working from Chapter One. The place had a great chilled out vibe and casual interior design, you get that really laid-back healthy beach-side living feeling when you’re here. The coffee was good, and the food that was served nearby me looked great. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a café serve boiled eggs in a little egg-cup holder before. The look of the Bircher muesli had me hankering after some for days later. Oh and free wifi.

Hanging out with my laptop, a decent coffee and good tunes is one of my favourite ways to spend a few spare hours… Bondi has been sorely lacking in good venues for this activity for too long!(McDonalds free wifi certainly hasn’t been cutting it!) Chapter One has great coffee, free wifi and awesome music pumping through the speakers… it’s heaven(well… not heaven… I’d hope heaven doesn’t charge for coffee… but close enough). My only complaint is inconsistent service. I don’t like being doted over in cafes/restaurants… but I do like to be checked up on sometimes and made to feel welcome. I’ve had a mix of service here… some super friendly and welcoming and others looking at me like I’ve walked into their private lounge room and demanded they get up and make me tea… wait… is that what I’ve done? This place certainly feels like someones home… such good vibes :)

If you had to give up caffeine or alcohol, which would it be? Give it some good thought. Coffee? Or wine? It not easy, but I’m hoping you’ve come to a decision. Okay. Now, if you had to give up your choice from quiz #1 or free wifi, which would it be? Now these are the questions that really lead a work-from-home’r down a spiral of deep thinking. It’s a dark place. So rather than address it, why don’t you do what I do and head to Chapter One immediately since they have all three readily available! And a view to boot. Basically what I’m saying is that these guys are the true heros. And with communal tables, air con, nibbles and super friendly staff, I’m surprised more people don’t ditch the 333 commute for a long black and an email power session. That’s my MO anyway.

Sunday afternoon. I’ve woken up on a friend’s couch with the dry horrors after a small night that got large. The only thing that will save me is coffee. Good coffee. Lots of it. Enter Chapter One Coffee & Wine Room. Small, but perfectly formed(just how I like them. Wait, what?) Up on the sunny side of the south Bondi hill. Cosy. Exposed brick. Be great for a 21st. Or a 70th. Or a Bar Mitzvah. Dude whipped me up a latte juiced up with two sugars and a shot of will-to-live. I slumped on a milk crate(wee, I’m a hipster, look at me!) on the pavement outside and surveyed the sprawl of Bondi spread out below me, and I saw that it was Good(that’s a reasonably obscure Genesis reference. Sometimes you just feel a bit Biblical, y’know?) In conclusion: good coffee, bordering on great coffee. Will try the titular wine next time around when I’m not feeling so fragile.

Wi-fi is generally a hard to come by asset at worthwhile cafés, fellow students and freelancing types often relegated to McDonald’s, Gloria Jean’s and Starbucks in search of remote internet access. Cue Chapter One, the pint-sized café at the top of Campbell Parade serving up just that, alongside modern Australian menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Once a tacky souvenir shop for Bondis’s many backpackers, the site has been empty for over a year while in lieu of catering license acquisitions. Six weeks ago, the cosy diner opened its doors to the public and I’ve been wanting to try it out ever since. Breakfast turned out a good sized bowl of bircher muesli, spiced with a hefty amount of cinnamon, crushed hazelnuts and shredded apple, topped with Greek yoghurt, seasonal fruit salad(featuring deliciously sweet mango chunks) and honey. The coffee was also great. These guys are licensed to serve wine and are open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday — I’ll definitely be back to test out one of the pasta dishes advertised on their giant blackboard.
