Have been here a few times generally has been good but I would avoid it on a busy night. Waited for 15 minutes for a table at which point the service staff inform us there is a wait list. I ask to be placed on it but am told they are to busy and will add us when they have a minute accompanied by a fairly poor attitude. Eventually we left without eating –busy times really show the poor staff attitude and cracks in customer service.

Went for dinner with my girlfriend here. I’ve been here before and enjoyed it, so I was keen to go again and review this time. I’d say the only real problem with Base is they don’t do reservations — it’s obviously a system that they like and works for them so I can’t see it changing. First things first Base is beautiful, it oozes class from the table settings to the light fixtures — the décor is absolutely spot on. There’s nice music playing, ever conversation I over here is interesting, everyone is sexy(this is definitely the place to be seen in Norwood). The menu is usually a little above my price range as a young person but Base is an upper market venue so I can appreciate its prices accordingly. After a modest 15 minute wait(just enough to down a peroni) we got a nice cozy 2 person table along the wall. My girlfriend and I chose to share the meat platter which is $ 50, I’d normally spend 25 or just under on a main meal normally so I thought this was reasonable. I was very impressed in the speed in which our meal was prepared and it was presented expertly on a giant board. Everything that comes to mind when you think meat board was on this plate, seriously — sliders, sausage, kebab, satay, everything, along with generously portioned dipping sauces SOMUCHMEAT! I was very happy… Overall we had a really nice night and ate some really nice food in a really nice joint, if I had to point out faults — I would prefer a larger separation in the beer garden between smokers and non smokers, in the warmer months it’s nice to sit outside and not smell cigarette smoke. Also while the service is professional and friendly, I would prefer it to be a bit more attentive, talking to customers is important, so is asking about their meal(when it’s super busy I can understand if this falters a little). 4⁄5 really isn’t an accurate reading 8⁄10 is closer

Update 6 months after below review: — amazing Margherita pizza! Fantastic young guy served us and made a great pizza, very surprised, good base and great mozzarella! Great place(with a very nice fit out) if you just want beer, wine, pizza and some tapas on side. As you’d expect from a pub posing as a restaurant the ingedience is mostly all out of a packet/tin and you can tell as its all very salty. The paella was extremely peppery which I don’t understand as you can add all the pepper and salt you like after. The pizzas have improved. Full credit for opening Easter Sunday. Avoid Friday and Saturday night.

I have being meaning to go there for awhile and we finally got our chance on Saturday night before we went to the movies. After umming and ahhing over the many tempting choices, we ordered the tasting plate and a pizza. The tasting plate was larger than expected, and I can’t fault a thing on it. The pizza… Well I am extremely fussy with pizzas… and this one was good! Over all, it was an extremely enjoyable experience

It’s usually very hard to get a table at Base on the weekend, but we were lucky this time. It was a cold Saturday afternoon, but so nice to walk into the warm restaurant. It’s worth noting that when it is cold the front door is closed, and entry is via the side door in through the Bath Hotel’s beer garden — this helps to keep the warmth in. We sat near the wood pizza oven, so it was impossible not to order a pizza after seeing all the amazing pizza coming out of the oven. I ordered the prosciutto pizza, and it was delicious. The base wasn’t too thin, there was the right amount of toppings and it was hot straight from the oven. The pizza is quite large, so depending on how hungry you are it is a good size to share with someone along with one of the sides. I took half of my pizza home in a takeaway box. Food service was quite fast, especially taking into account that it was busy and wood oven pizzas normally take a while in other restaurants. Cutlery and serviettes are available at the front counter(self-serve), or one of the friendly waiters is more than happy to assist. On the topic of cutlery, it was nice to have a proper serrated knife that actually cut my pizza — it avoided the usual struggle that makes you look like you are hacking into the pizza. Overall, this is a great restaurant — one that is fast becoming one of my regular options/suggestions for a place to catch up with friends.

An eastern suburb fave which is slowly becoming my local go-to! Awesome for Sunday tapas, pizzas & drinks. Guaranteed great food with a pumping atmosphere. I’d highly recommend the wood oven pizzas if you’re looking for a bite to eat(one between two is ample!) As for small plates you can’t go past the arancini and Szechuan squid. This place is a winner everytime!

Pizza seemed to be all everyone was eating so we selected and did not go wrong! So much so that I are ate base 2 nights out if 4! Being a tourist and returning to a bar for pizza really speaks volumes. The duck pizza was divine with a good dash of hoi sin sauce and a decent portion of duck. The bar itself is very modern, sports bar in style. Friendly and accessible with families, through to couples

The Base Bar and eatery is a good place to stop past for a pre movie feed. A Pizza and Tapas Bar, part of the Bath Hotel complex. The Pizzas are all wood oven cooked and a good size for one(about 25 cm or 11″) with a diverse range of toppings. Friends I was with had the meat covered one and loved it. If pizza is not your thing for the night they also serve up a selection of Tapas style items, you’ll need 2 at least to feel comfortably fed, but the pricing is based on that mostly. the table had a few choices from some richly sauced Gnocchi to Pork Belly, Calamari and Rosemary potatoes. and all tasted very nice.

Always packed and worth the wait, and easy to have a drink at the bar. There is no table service. Order and pay at the counter. Food is fantastic. The only problem is that it isn’t open every day. We had a nice variety of dishes which we shared, and have a look at the photos.

Another packed night for Base but friendly staff(thanks Nick) found us a table up behind the pizza oven. This will be the place to sit in winter! We had the pulled pork buns which are served with fat hand cut chips. The serves are very generous(3 small buns each) & the fresh coleslaw crunch with the melt in your mouth pork surrounded by the slightly sweet soft bun is a slider winner. The chips were cooked to perfection and again served generously. The advantage of a back table is the wall of wine on offer. Some of my favorites up there(La Linea, Rockfords) compliment a delicious menu.

Base Bar is the recently opened sister of the Bath Hotel. The décor is fantastic with large wooden tables perfect for groups of people. I can see it getting very busy in the warmer months especially with the delcious array of pizzas and cocktails(perfec to share, or not). The front is all open and there are a few prime seats facing the road so you can watch the world go by. Although the venue itself is quite small I have been a little cheeky and taken my drinks and my larger group across to the front area of the Bath. I can’t wait to work my way through the funky cocktail menu(and yes, they come in cute jars)
