Well, I have to say I’m disappointed by this Pizza Capers. As we walked into the store, a giant sign proudly declared that the business had recently won some sort of pizza accolade over all the other pizza chains, particularly in the service department. Our hearts filled with hope, we approached the counter and waited for the server to look up and greet us. Nothing. We waited a few seconds more. Nothing. Finally we said«hi», and he looked up and, without a hello, said«What would you like?» Hmm, not a great start to our Pizza Capers well, capers(oooh pun!). There was only one other person in the store, and he had already ordered, so when we placed our order for one large pizza(half vegetarian, half Italian) we asked how long the wait would be as we had tickets for a movie at the nearby Hoyts at 7pm. It was now 625 and the server told us it would be a 15 minute wait, maybe just a smidgen more. We figured we could eat the pizza quickly in the store and still make our movie, so we paid and sat down to wait. Thirty-five minutes later, a lot of people had come in to pick up their phone orders, but still no pizza for us. We went back to the counter to see if they had forgotten about us. It was now 7pm and our movie was starting. The cook saw us making an inquiry and a moment later held out our pizza and called our name. The server meandered to the till while my partner muttered«Hurry!» “That’s $ 19.45,” the young man said. We had already paid when we ordered, and told him so. He looked confused and jabbed at the till for a moment before grabbing our pizza and walking it around the counter to us. We said a hurried thanks and ran out the door, eating slices left and right as we sped off to the theatre. Long story short: the service was average, the pizza was average(and expensive for what we got!). It gets a two star«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» from me.

The pizza’s from Pizza Capers are great(Salmon Affair — a must!) and the garlic bread is worth getting for the funky packaging alone. But waiting over an hour for a pizza to be delivered on a Thursday night is a little disappointing… it would almost be enough for me to say don’t bother, but once you start eating you realize it really is worth the wait.

Pizza Capers is by far the best take away pizza place in the Eastern suburbs, and possibly in Adelaide. Their pizzas are made with some gourmet ingredients. Proper cuts of beef and lamb, real, chinky chicken, good quality ham. However, their pizza range is also incredibly unique with pizzas I have never seen on another menu before. The maine downside to Pizza Capers would be their price. Their pizzas average around the $ 13-$ 15 mark. But if you’re willing to spend the simoleons then they’re worth every cent. Might I suggest the New Orleans if you’re keen to try something new? Yes, yes I may…

Pizza places are taking over Norwood! I for one welcome our pizza overlords. Another solid option when you’re in the mood for yummy, good quality, gourmet pizza. Capers are fairly new in these parts, and I tried the New Orleans(ok), Pepperoni(nice) and Gulf of Mexico(v. good) here. We ordered ahead and picked up, and the service was fast and quick. The pizzas are always fresh from my experience and have some great toppings — I can’t wait to try the salmon and thai barramundi when I’m craving a pizza next. Prices are average with a large setting you back about $ 20. Like everywhere else on the Parade(bookshops, gas stations, thai cafes, libraries…) they also make coffee.

I first discovered pizza capers after making a late night stumbling trip down from a friends place in Kent Town. Since then I have been a couple of times and have warmed to the place. It offers good gourmet pizza at around about the same price you would pay in a restaurant. This means it is of course a rip off, but at least you can have gourmet pizza on the couch watching Glee and not have to sit in a crusty restaurant if you don’t want to. But there is a great range, much more expansive than your typical Italian restaurant or local Pizza Hut(ugh please for the love of God do not go to Pizza Hut). I did one time witness the manager/boss kind of yell at this new girl(we couldn’t ascertain exactly what she had done from our vantage point). I did feel bad for her though, so perhaps avoid the boss or the manager if you can. There is also a limited amount of seating inside the shop but it is not the most romantic or intimate atmosphere if that is what you were going for. I’d recommend going home and eating it in your PJ’s.
