Arcade 189

This amazing gem is hidden in a side street in Northbridge, its not something you would stumble across easily, but now that you know about it, you have to go scout it out for yourself. The street is filled with the most beautiful vintage stores, bars and other creative and quirky stores. The vintage clothes in one of the stores is really quirky and surprisingly modern. That may seem like some sort of oxymoron but vintage has become the new in thing. It is vintage clothing, that is cool today.
I think that is what I love of original vintage, it is what our clothing styles are based on today, you can see aspects of every era in stores like Sportsgirl or General pants co.
This is one street not to be missed.

Arcade 189 is a little underground hub of creative and vintage goodness. It is somewhere a little different, you enter down the little side street off of Williams, and keep following the white rabbit until your eyes see the sparkle from the old school clothes and your nose smells the sweet scent of lilies and petunias from the florist.

William Street is the main drag in Northbridge littered with fashionable hot spots and trendy bars, definitely a place to be, so when a side street appears I always jump at the opportunity to sniff out the goodies. .and on this particular expedition I’ve come up trumps– arcade 189 is my find of the week!
Displaying a collection of new and old, there are 5 quality shops that will rock the socks off you. Primarily clothing stores, 2 specialised mens stores («Captain of the ship» and «Gfted») and 2 womens shops («Kchic Boutique» and «Claris» a vintage style with a retro funk twist) a hairdressers and a new flourist «Beans and bunches» on the block– providing all you could wish for and a little more in the gifts and decorative departments.
Ultimately Arcade 189 is a an explosion of creativity laying low in the underground– this relatively quiet strip will be buzzing when the word gets out so get in quick to ride the wave!
