My goodness — what a wonderful dining experience. The food was unbelievable, so fresh, and the service wonderful. As you would expect, you pay a little more than average for the experience but was actually excellent value. I have paid much more for meals and not had even half the enjoyment. We had a set menu which was perfectly balanced in every respect. A contemporary, top of the range restaurant. I’ll be back. Arigato gozainashita!

Takumi was the culinary highlight of my most recent weekend trip to Melbourne. Wagyu beef is certainly a treat and the set menu options gave us an opportunity to try various cuts. While definitely hungry when we reached the restaurant, we opted for the smallest of the set options, A, which comes with 3 different cuts of wagyu, sides, and added an order of squid to satisfy our seafood craving that evening. Cooked over hot coals at the table; it’s ideal for people who disagree on the degree to which beef should be cooked. Sets also include the Takumi special, thinly sliced wagyu eye fillet with diced onion. So delicious I think I’d come back just for that. The service is excellent and tables are as intimate as possible while not wasting any of the restaurant’s limited floor space. Perfect for romantic evenings or small get togethers with friends, I can’t imagine a more fun and delicious way to spend an evening.

Went here after getting a Group-on special. Normally I’m skeptical of these sorts of specials however my expectations were blown out of the water. The service was very attentive, the food was excellent as was the sake. It was a banquet style meal with standouts being entrée of Salmon sashimi with a marvellous(yet indescribable) sauce, thinly sliced beef carpaccio. Fabulous. However the real standout was the Wagu Beef. You cook your own Wagu Beef on the smokeless hot coal BBQ at your table and it is amazing. They offer to marinate the Wagu in BBQ sauce before bringing it to you, however it is unnecessary as the flavour of the meat carries itself. Amazing. Did I say Amazing? I left there extremely satisfied, having just discovered a new Melbourne Gem. The place was absolutely packed when we left so be sure to book!
