Was in Melb from Perth and went in for breakfast on the grand final public holiday. Service was prompt, orange juice brought out fast. Only a short wait for food. I had the breakfast roll and it was delicious. Huge amount of avocado on it and the tomato relish was delicious. Top notch! Mate had the eggs benedict with bacon. While good, it could have used a bit more bacon. Overall though, positive experience!

Moving from the Paris end of Collins St to the Beirut end has kicked of a quest for me to find some new lunch options. Cherry and Twigs has become a firm favourite; due to it’s location(a short walk from work), fast and friendly service and reliably tasty menu. The aforementioned menu is only one page long. Half dedicated to all day breakfast and half to lunch. All items I have tried from the lunch menu have been fresh, lovely to look at and really good to eat. Highlights for me include the corn fritters, green curry and vegetarian wrap. Coffee is consistent and service is always friendly and efficient. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that the venue still feels«a bit new». This does not relate to the service or menu, but purely the atmosphere. Whilst decorated in the industrial/scando style that screams«melbourne café», this place needs a bit more wearing in before it becomes truly comfortable.

I’ve only popped into Cherry & Twigs in order to refuel with some coffee to get me through the last leg of the working day, but given the fact that I never seem to eat properly during the working day it’s only a matter of time before I pop in for a piece of the all day brekkie action after work. C&T is tucked away on a mostly deserted laneway, just far enough away from King st for the drunk kids to not usually make it down this far. The staff is friendly here and always greet you with a smile and deliver the caffeine fix promptly and well priced. There are a variety of tables here, smaller ones for two to four and a large communal table that seems to fill up quicker than others. As I haven’t tried the food yet, I can only comment on how it looks and sounds. Breakfast is offered all day long and it looks like the perfect thing to kick off the day(or afternoon!). Assorted treats, croissants and slices are on offer on the counter which are bound to fill that cake-sized hole in your belly.
