I haven’t yet eaten here but I did come on a Sunday evening for some drinks with friends and it was a really great time! A young-ish crowd(18 – 25), great music and a live solo musician who totally kicks ass once he gets going. Great atmosphere and definitely would come back here again.

Proximity wise, this is my local, but truthfully I usually would rather head out to a few other pub favourites inner-city. Still, it’s handy to be able to watch the foxtel footy games, usually with a bunch of other similarly footy-mad randoms, have a few drinks and stumble home easily(I’ve never lived any closer to the city than this, so I’ve not had this experience most of you probably take for granted!). Food is fine for pub grub, but you might be in for a shock if you go expecting a quiet catch-up with someone, as between the sports, pokies(ew), music acts and trivia nights etc there’s always something going on. Really dig that in the sports bar you might get lucky to grab a table with its own TV you can control, and that the little courtyard is equipped with some decent screenage. Downside is that there’s a lot of prevalence given to the horse races — frustrating for me when I just wanna watch the footy(sometimes two games at once. I’m greedy like that), and also that spending time in the said courtyard will leave you smelling like an ashtray. Might be the times I go(footy times), but the gender balance seems quite heavily skewed — ladies, if you’re after middle aged red-nosed gambling men this is the smörgåsbord you’ve been waiting for! Oh and I’ve seen ‘Dipper’ in there a few times. He was betting on horses and didn’t give a toss the Hawks were playing(in case you were wondering.)

A long standing«local» that serves the best parma I have found to date(be sure to ask for the side of gravy — delicious). You will be surprised by the menu and goes beyond, the standard grub that you may find or expect at your local pub. They have a separate bistro /dinning area with booths for privacy during your meal should you wish. Its clean, plenty of screens for the races, good pool tables, poker on a tuesday night, wednesday night lots of young local gather for a boogie, they now offer a drop off service at no charge on a friday or saturday so you don’t have to worry about driving home after a few quiet ones. Drive through bottle shop open till late, friendly bar staff, an outdoor area with an open fire, they are also known for showing major main events like boxing matches, which tend to draw a few in. Plenty of tradition here, get along for a Parma when you can.

Great for those youngsters who love to get out of the house at any opportunity, but If your looking for a quite pub meal out any night of the week. you probably wont find it at the Harp. There is something on nearly every night… Monday is Trivia Night at the Harp, starting at 8.00pm, they prefer bookings. Prizes on offer! Tuesday night — Pub Poker night. Wednesday night is the night you can let your hair down with local DJ’s and Happy Hour. Friday night at the Harp usually covers live entertainment and a bit of random karaōke here and there. Usually cover bands playing all the greatest from the 80’s, 90’s.

The Harp is a great old-style pub with all the new things taking over. There’s a whole lot of pokies here which are situated in a room away from everything, but if you end up eating in that room, all you’re going to hear is that horrible pokies-music which is a shame because it really takes away from the venue. The outdoor courtyard is quite nice and new, nothing wrong there. Their main bistro area is well thought out and a favorite with the locals of all ages. The food is great and the staff are friendly and love having a chat. Wednesday night is their big party night and they have DJ’s playing all the top 40 hits, which is great if you’re into it. You can’t blame a place for diversifying, but the pokies really are a bit of a shame
