The Glenferrie hotel has a great setup but, very easy to miss when you’re driving past. We came for lunch Ordered the chicken parmigiana. Very cheesy and meaty which was great. We also had the Salmon. Very small portion size. The salad was too small but, the salmon was cooked well

Went on a Friday night so was busy, but got our food quick considering how many people. Food was really good and tons to choose from. Staff were friendly and well mannered. Would definitely recommend :)

Pub, most of us like them. This one is A OK. They have a great beer garden which is wonderful for those days that you want to sit outside. The beer garden can adapt to the temperamental mistress that is Melbourne. Cold, that’s ok — they will shut the roof and turn on the heaters. Hot — open the roof up and enjoy the sunshine. They have the standard pub fare, but the thing that I think could be great about the Glenferrie — is their willingness to entertain another football code other than AFL. I know it’s the Glenferrie, in Hawthorn heartland, but they are wasting a wonderful opportunity here. Don’t get me wrong — I LOVEAFL, but they have an amazing beer garden, TV’s everywhere. Amazing resources — use them! Encourage locals in by showing A League, NRL or other sports. They get an A-OK because they are a pub, but they could have got a YAY if they are willing to show other sports without putting their nose up.

While I prefer Nevermind Bar, I have to admit that the Glenferrie Hotel is a pretty nice venue and isn’t nearly as average as other venues along this strip. The Glenferrie has made a decent compromise between the old grandeur of the building and space and the need for a young crowd to reinvigorate the place. It looks old, but more often than not you’ll find a youngish crowd here and the overall effect is a nice location with a fun atmosphere. Apart from drinks and cheer the Glenferrie Hotel also offers accommodation, an outdoor drinking area, food and a decent array of beer and cider. The Glenferrie has jumped on the Rekorderlig bandwagon and while it is fairly pricey, it is still nice to see that certain venues are offering a decent range in cider. It is comfy, calm and cosmopolitan. I like the mix between young and old, the past and future and it always seems to be friendly.
