Nice fast food burritos and burrito relatives. Simpler and possibly less traditional than some other places, such as Guzman y Gomez(though how traditional can a fast food outlet be anyway?) but also fresher and lighter. All the standard fare is here: burritos, tacos, nachos, bowls(burritos without the burrito). Black rice is a new addition that adds an interesting texture.

This place is great. i go there every Wednesday night for dinner with the gf. the burritos are so tasty I’ve had everything on the menu and all of it is good but i get the lamb burrito and my gf gets the veggie chikito then we share salsa quesadillas. A great mix for sauce is Chipotle and basilo… So hungry now lol

One should not expect a Chipotle experience, as hard as it is given the similarities. Zambrero is an average fast food venue but doesn’t make the cut for an epic burrito or burrito bowl. It blends in well with the surrounding college eateries. I heard good things so I had to try it. Nothing about this place is original or very impressive. Just another over priced attempt at Tex-Mex.

Burritos are great, though it would be nice if they had actual vegetarian filling, not just a lack of meat making it ‘vegetarian’ although it is much more fresh and light than the other Mexican fast food restaurants in Brisbane. I love the crushed up corn chips and more western style influence. great variety of salsas and sauces. GYG is still the best for traditional or street-style mexican, but I find Zambo’s to be a healthier option, and doesn’t give you the food-sweats like Guzman does. The tacos, however are incredibly underwhelming. Granted, I was served by someone who was new, but for $ 5 each, they were barely filled at all. It might be more substantial when you have them with meat, but they definitely need to up the salsa amounts to make it worthwhile.

I can always rely on Zambrero for a delicious lunch or dinner! Their burritos and chikitos are super yummy and super filling. I generally cannot finish the smaller size chikito in one sitting. They’re packed with healthy goodness which means I never feel guilty after a quick lunch. The vegetarian chikito is also vegan friendly, which is always a bonus when you have vegan friends like I do! You definitely cannot go past the cheesy, crunchy nachos that by far surpass any other nachos I’ve ever eaten!(Plus, they’re healthy too:) The service is always very friendly and polite, and in store atmosphere easy and laid back. If you’re in need of further reasoning to visit Zambrero, let me enlighten you on their ‘plate for plate’ policy. For every meal you buy, a plate of food is given to a child in need around the world. Delicious food and social justice all on one plate, what more could you want for lunch? There really is something for everybody, as you can customise your order through fillings, meats, and sauces. I don’t give away 5 stars very easily, but Zambrero, you deserve it. Well done.

I am a fan. Thank you, Unilocalers for your recommendations! I am house-sitting in Urban Village, and went down to check out the restaurants. Zambrero is usually quite busy at lunch, and so I tried it out. I had a chik-ito with beef, salad, jalapeños and chipotle sauce. It was fresh, delicious, and filling. It was only $ 7.50, which is unbelievable! I found myself craving it today, which is great since it is a relatively healthy option.

Zambrero’s is a franchise fresh and fast style Mexican restaurant which I believe started in Canberra. The restaurant at Kelvin Grove had been open for less than a week when I visited on a Saturday. The service was friendly but slightly awkward and a little underwhelming, I think this is just teething problems though as they’re so new, so I’m not holding it against them. The concept is great — delicious fast, fresh, HEALTHY mexican food — the restaurant is set up similar to Subway — you start at one end and work your way along the bench yes or no’ing the various salad and sauce options proffered to you. I had the beef burrito, with all the salsas(all delicious), no cheese or sour cream(am a lactard) and no guac. From memory it was about $ 11(two sizes avail, this was the big one) and it was ENORMOUS. The beef was amazing(slow cooked sous vide style apparently), the rice and beans were seasoned nicely and the salsas were freshy and tasty. The sauce options all sounded really interesting and delicious, and I had the chipotle. It was nicely spicy but not firey hot. I enjoyed my burrito a lot. I think it was tastier and slightly better value for money than GYG burritos, and the location is handier for me too. HOWEVER, I was dining with some vegan friends who specifically asked if they could get a vegan burrito to which they were told yes. Despite this, the guy serving them offered them cheese and sour cream. Obviously, declined! This alone made me wonder if he actually knew what«vegan» means… I’d suggest probs not. Anyhoo, they perservered and started eating their burritos but thought they tasted buttery. The dude serving us confirmed that yes, the rice AND the beans(the main ingredients in the veg/vegan burrito) were both cooked in butter. SCANDAL. The vegans were not happy. So, Zambreros is not for you if you don’t eat butter(which I personally find delicious but obviously vegans do not). Next visit I think I’ll try the hard shell taco wrapped in a soft shell taco. SMARTANDAMAZING — all the crunch of a hard shell without the mess that results from it breaking as soon as you bite it.
