If your hobby has anything to do with painting, arts & craft or jewellery making you will love Riot Art & Craft. This store is filled with everything you could possibly need to be crafty from extremely cheap canvas ($ 2 and upwards) to mounds of different coloured and textured paper (great for scrap booking), a whole section devised for jewellery making with all tools necessary as well as lots of different beads, clasps and wire as well as huge containers filled with paint and so much more. This store would not be ideal for a professional because the quality is not the best available, rather it’s for those who want to do something creative and fun (amateurs and children) without having to pay ridiculous prices.

This art store is for the kids, it won’t satisfy most adults. But for the parents who have 6 long weeks of school holidays to keep the kids busy and entertained this place can be a lifesaver. Grab some paint, glue and paper and let the kids go bersek. Not the arty type and need some inspiration, they have ideas and free project sheets to give you a kick start.

It sounds awful to say so, but let’s face it: compared to Jacksons, Riot is a bit, well, nothingy. This is not to say that they don’t stock decent equipment, or even that I know what I’m talking about, but the general sense I get when I’m in there is that it’s just not as serious about what it’s doing as Jacksons. Actually, now that I think about it, this might be a little unfair. Who said anything about an art supply store having to be serious? Picasso never took himself too seriously. Maybe this is a good thing?
I don’t think it is. I get the impression of being in a chain art store whenever I’m in Riot. And, let’s face this as well, an art store that doesn’t stock leds for mechanical pencils is not really any kind of art store at all.

I love arts and crafts, and I love being spoiled for choice.
After visiting one too many art supplies stores that are ridiculously expensive (will not name-​and-​shame) I was happy to walk into Riot Art & Craft to find a load of bargains. They have wide variety of canvas’, paints & accessories, and everything one could imagine for your arts & crafts needs. Furthermore, they do have supplies for the more quality-​conscious budding artists (which I wish I were).
