Holy snapper! How have I not been here before? Amazing seafood, down to earth prices and quirky cosy interiors — A Fish Called Inglewood, you have stolen my heart(because a good pun always will). My mum suggested this place for family dinner, and mother knows best — it is a remarkable fish and chips restaurant. The menu changes daily and the gluten-free items are marked clearly. I haven’t eaten«battered» fish in about 10 years because I’ve never seen it on a menu, but was so happy to try my sister-in-law’s meal(who is a celiac) and exclaimed that it tasted like my childhood. I ordered the grilled WA snapper with Asian salad — the fish was fresh and the salad was delicious with big mint leaves, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, peanuts and a nam jim dressing. My pro-tip for A Fish Called Inglewood: go crazy on the side dishes! The shredded Brussels sprouts in a maple dressing were the table favourite, and definitely order the cider battered onion ring — gluten free curly onion fries that are ‘shout out loud from excitement’ delicious. The bread comes with a whole roasted head of garlic and butter, and the chips are the flat(vs square) variety that I love. There’s housemade ice cream flavours(like peanut butter, Pedro Ximinez, ginger nut, and tiramisu) by the scoop, or you take a 1L tub home like I saw a few locals do with their takeaway fish and chips. A Fish Called Inglewood has buzzy yet not head-thumping acoustics, with friendly staff and an authentic neighbourhood feel. I’ve finally found it — the best seafood restaurant in Perth is not surrounded by a body of water. Who would have thought!

Superb food! One of the best seafood meals I have had for sometime. I had the seafood platter for 1. It was huge and I thought it was good value. The seafood was fresh local produce and was cooked perfectly. My other half had the NT barramundi with salad and chips. Good sized serve that was well presented and once again perfectly cooked. Not sure if they do kids meals. I have gone past this place before thinking it was just an overpriced fish and chip shop but boy was I wrong! Will be back for sure. You have to give this place a go. Very good!

This review is purely based on the their takeaway fish and chips. My housemate and I got a $ 15 fish and chips each and couldn’t fault it. Nicely presented in a box, massive chunk of tasty and perfectly cooked fish along with hand cut chips and homemade tartare sauce. The $ 5 premium over the local fish and chip joints is well worth it.

Quirky little suburban eatery. Seafood platter for two $ 89 includes 2 glasses of unremarkable mass-produced wine(that we skipped for better wine). Good value I thought and three of us shared it with a side Asian salad. Everything on the platter was fresh and gorgeous and #paleo besides the chips. The rest of the menu was not very #paleolifestyle friendly. If they add comfier chairs and it would be the perfect local.

Went here for my birthday dinner recently. The food rocks and the service is pretty good although there was a bit of a wait between entrees and mains. It’s BYO but the restaurant is getting a liquor license. My dad had the fish and chips. Now he’s a fussy man but he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. I had some salmon dish which was gorgeous. Also had some oysters that I could have eaten about 40 of. You must try the home made ice creams! The peanut butter one was heavenly! Friendly owner. He’s the reason I went as I met him out the front of his restaurant the week before and had a pleasant chat with him. This restaurant does fill up quickly and they don’t take bookings so please keep this in mind when you go. I’ll be returning!

On our visit to A Fish Called Inglewood we decide to start off by sharing the corn croquettes with crab salad and capsicum jam. The corn croquettes are serious business. Crunchy on the outside and oh so creamy inside… they have that sweet corn flavour with actual kernels inside, and not a trace of oiliness. These are easily some of the best croquettes I’ve ever had — and I could have happily munched my way through a dozen of them. The crab salad on the side is sweet and fresh, with lovely peppery slices of radish and little bursts of juicy peas. Choosing what to order for our mains was surprisingly a quick decision. We both instantly announce that we wanted the WA snapper($ 22.00) but in the interest of variety we end up deciding to share our mains too so we both get the snapper, but also can try something else. For our second dish we choose the linguini with bugs, clams, cherry tomatoes and oil(I think this was around $ 25.00). We both love our pasta so this dish had some big boxes to tick — and we were so happy that it did more than that! The linguini was al dente, the seafood cooked perfectly. I can’t remember what the oil was in the pasta, but it was definitely something special — bringing the whole dish together with robust flavours. I love the umami rich tomatoes that were juicy and acidic, giving vibrancy to each bite. It’s a seemingly simple dish but shows to be deceptive once you start eating it. Equally impressive is the WA snapper, which is coated in a light, gluten free batter and served with fat chips and aioli. The fish is steaming hot, meaty in texture and tasty. The chips are generous and delicious — with some nice crispy edges and the creamy aioli is the perfect accompaniment for dunking them in. We also use the chips to soak up some of the residual oil pooling at the bottom of our pasta bowl — it was just begging to be used! All the seafood at A Fish Called Inglewood is sourced within Australia and New Zealand which means you get to eat local and fresh produce. I love snapper and the way the flesh just flakes apart as you cut into the meat. This is definitely a must order at this restaurant, it turns the humble fish and chip into something of dine in quality. Yum! Though we’re quite sated from our savoury dishes, we decide to finish the night on a sweet note. Paul and his team make their own ice-cream bars in house(hell yes!) and at $ 5.00 a pop, they are something begging to be ordered. Since it was getting later in the night most of the flavours were disappearing we made sure we picked quickly. The boy went for the adventurous combination of beer and pretzel, and I opted for peanut butter. Both were so tasty! Creamy, cold and flavoursome. They had just the right balance of sweetness so you didn’t find yourself getting overpowered. What a clever idea and welcome addition in my opinion. After all, a dessert that features peanut butter will always get my vote! I have to say I was really and truly impressed by this little local Inglewood gem. Situated next door to Miss Kittys and in the same block as Sugar and Nice, it’s a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. I can definitely say I see why there’s so much hype surrounding this place and I’m looking forward to returning soon for more seafood goodness.

The price point and menu selection is perfect for a seafood lover like myself. Take away fish when I order it has been amazing, the fish changes regularly so if not to your liking just let them know !! Love love love this place.

What a gem! Nestled just off Beaufort Street, right next to Miss Kitty’s, A Fish Called Inglewood is not your average fish and chip shop. The menu changes every day based on what’s great at the markets. Todays take away choices included the classic fish and chips, a fish burger BLT, and grilled fish with todays veg. I entered tonight expecting to order takeaway, but the dine-in menu looked to delicious to not stay. My partner and I had salmon gravlax, pear and basil coleslaw, john dory with walnut dill pesto, and the groper. Everything was above and beyond expectation. The interior is well designed, the lights make me smile, and the art is all well chosen. The staff are friendly, but not overbearing, the level of service was perfect. The cherry on the top for me tonight though is the homemade ice cream, there were 7 flavours available on a stick — which I think is fricking amazing — but there were even more flavours available in 1L tubs for take home. Needless to say I took home. We got the Berry Pop, which has popping candy in it. Sooooo good. I left so happy, I normally don’t write a review after one visit but these guys totally deserve the 5 star rating, I really can’t wait to go back.
