Had a beautiful wallaby burger, amazing sauce, shredded wallaby and really amazing sweet pickles! Honestly, the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Also, they cater for the dietary needy like me(glutard) with equally delicious, soft and moist buns. Oh, and the popcorn chicken(also for glutard) was so flipping delicious! Yes it was pricy, but excellent value.

Great sunny spot overlooking Salamanca. Beer selection was limited, but very accessible via fully customisable tasting flights. Four beers/ciders per flight, in generous portions. Burgers are the focus: my mushroom burger was tasty but a bit sloppy; my friend’s beef burger was spot on and he cleaned it up quickly. Great fries, with spicy savoury sambal oelek sauce.

Nice venue. Had lunch here on a Wednesday. Friendly staff. Ordered a mushroom vegetarian burger and have never eaten a more greasy/oily burger in my life. This wouldn’t have been as big of a problem if our 2 burgers, 1 chips and 2 soft drinks didn’t cost $ 52.30.

I went here on my first night in Tasmania — coincidently, my first night in Australia. I was by myself and wanted to go somewhere with a crowd where I could sit at the bar and have a good meal and a couple of beers. I did just that. The area of town was a really convenient walk from my hotel, so I helped myself to a flight of 4 different beers and an extra pint to boot. The food wait was 40 minutes, so I ordered an appetizer of olives. They came out hot, which was really odd to me, but when in Rome… My flight included the Cascade Pale light drinking lager, which was plain but had a distinct flavor, the Iron house Scot’s Kilt, which is a collaboration with the restaurant and brewery, so «limited edition», the Moo Brew Velvet Sledgehammer, a seasonal release that was creamy, chocolaty, and my personal favorite, and the Cascade stout, which was an easy drinker. I ordered the Wallaby Burger, which I was excited to try, with it being my first night in Aussie. I didn’t really like it, but I think it’s because of my personal preferences, not because of the quality of the dish. It reminded me of pulled-pork barbecue, and I’m not the hugest barbecue fan in the world(despite being from Alabama) so I just couldn’t get really jazzed about it. The sauce was a sweeter, relish style, and I typically prefer vinegar-based sauce on my barbecue. So overall, I probably should have asked more questions before I ordered it. I didn’t hate it, but it just wasn’t my style. However, overall, I had a great time there! When you’re in a new place alone, there’s a feeling(at least for me) of wanting to share it with someone. The bartenders and other bar-sitters(like myself) were all too friendly and kept me entertained for a couple of hours before submitting myself to the jetlag and heading in for the night.

Great beer, friendly — if somewhat distracted — staff, good burgers. Not too touristy. I wasn’t there in the late evening when I imagine the place pumps, but I enjoyed an oatmeal stout– recommend by the able barman after a few tastings to ensure I was happy

Excellent. The fries were incredible. The pulled pork sandwich was great. My wife got some mini burgers and I highly recommend the filet mignon mini burger.

The burgers are very tasty, the craft beer list has great options for most tastes and the staff are friendly and willing to offer advice to people visiting Hobart.

Came Here for burgers and some pints with the in laws. I must say the service is fantastic. The staff were so helpful in finding us a table and they were super attentive. We have the Mexican burger(burger of the day) and it was so so good. Great mix of guacamole, jalapeños, salsa and cheese– delicious. I would recommended this place, even if it is a younger crowd. Especially since revealing from WA.

Beer selection changes all the time, great range of Tasmanian and other Australian craft brews. Burgers absolutely stunning, and probably the best chips I’ve ever had(and I’ve had a lot of chips). Fantastic crunch, soft inside and a super tasty slightly spiced seasoning.

Every so often we come across a pub that is just too good not to talk about. This is that pub! Excellent selection of beers, good service and Rod, at least I think that was his name, was without a doubt the friendliest and most knowledgeable bartender on all things alcohol related that we met from Australia to NZ. If it is still on the menu and you like IPA give the Temple Rye a try…

I had a pulled pork burger here and it was amazing! Just the right amount of ‘sauciness’ to coat the fingers(and the flavour made the subsequent licking of the fingers sheer necessity) I found the atmosphere perfect. Lots of chatter but not so loud I couldn’t hear the other parties at my table. The music supplied was well suited to a lazy Sunday evening. Although I wasn’t personally girding my loins for Monday I could easily see this comprising a perfect ending to the weekend

We sat in the next door pizza area but there was no problems ordering from the Jack Greene menu(we could have ordered from either or both restaurants). We sat outside in July(thanks to outdoor heaters) and watched the people go by. Staff friendly and efficient. Enjoyed sliders and regular burger, chips and onion rings. A nice casual restaurant with a great vibe and good food. You won be disappointed.

We sat upstairs which is styled somewhere between a library and a hunting lodge, with iron bars surrounding the staircase and a school desk for two at the window overlooking the port. Their vegie burger was eggplant fried with cheese, tomato and red onion which I had on Turkish bread. Their chips were cut thick and cooked well. We also shared a serve of terribly good onion rings in brown spicy batter. Even sharing we could not finish them. They had a good range of tap beers and many more in bottles. I wish more were from Tasmania.

Cozy place. Nice. Wish we had known to sit upstairs. But drinks are expensive for a hamburger place. Popular place with locals. Wifi a plus.

Great atmosphere and great burgers! YUMMO! Tried a chicken burger, classic, and the spicy one. Flavor was great! The chips with jalapeño aoili was out of this world! Love the outdoor seating, great beer selection! The musician they had in there was awesome — just one of those amazing evenings!

Jack Greene has been modelled off a stylised European tavern– with plenty of dark polished wood, exposed beams and shelves full of books. The beer selection is excellent and they make a very fine burger. Specifically the spicy beef burger. I’ve heard their other burgers are also good, but I haven’t been able to resist the spicy beef temptation since I first tried it so any comments I make on the rest of the selection would be nothing but hearsay. In addition to burgers they do very tasty thick cut chips(fries for the US). That’s it — burgers and mini-burgers. No desert, no steak or calamari. If you like beer /cider and burgers though, you’ll be very happy :) Note: they don’t take reservations Friday or Saturday nights.
