Brat Time: I’m a fan. I’ve been twice now and here’s the lowdown: 1. exciting menu. 2. fun space. 3. cool tunes. Why is nobody in here?! Do they not realise what lurks just below street level as they mill through the mall? Seriously, I gotta tell more people about this place. But only enough people so that business picks up a bit, not so that it’s too packed whenever I want to visit. Such a dilemma. Then again, maybe I’m just visiting at weird hours? In any case, if you’re looking for sausage, look no further than the downstairs sausage fest. I mean, the underground sausage lair. I MEAN, Brat Time.(Sorry, Brat Time, you’ve already got a nickname or two.) Seriously though! You can get a plain old hot dog, or you can get something stupendous like the Hottudoggu(think caramelised onion, seaweed, bonito flakes and Japanese mayo) or the Thai Me Up(think a glorious mash-up of banh mi and hot dog). Great bar snacks and sides as well, plus it’s licensed(DOGANDBEER!) AND they have great coffee. Basically: HEYHOBART, GETTHEETOTHESAUSAGEDUNGEON.

Recently opened and renamed to Brat Time. Fantastic Bratwursts. You simply won’t find better in Hobart. Atmosphere is bar and dinning, beers on tap, quiet corners, and subdued background music. Chilli dog was topped with a spicy chilli con corne and the chips wre cooked to perfection, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
