Went down to Hillarys to have a look around and ended up here. $ 18 for a pint was a shock to the system. Waiting 10 minutes for chips wasn’t so bad but when the biggest one is the size of a match stick and they’re just warm the disappointment set in. At least they had the cricket on the big screen. That’s really the only positive.

Hubby and I took advantage of a special offer of a prawn cocktail entrée, a main of fish, chips and salad, followed by a dessert of cake and coffee all for $ 16.95 per person on a Wednesday night, our date night. The prawn cocktail had a dressing of mayonnaise rather than seafood dressing or thousand island dressing. The prawns were those tiny ones than look like they came out of a tin. The taste was very ordinary. The main salad was a lovely garden salad with a lovely vinaigrette dressing. In fact, that was the best part. The fish were 5 tiny individual pieces that had the consistancy of rubber and was just as tasteless. The chips were ok. We got up to choose our cake and coffee but were told there was no chai available(they don’t do it) so I settled for a latte. I wasn’t allowed to pick my cake. It was a Malteser sponge or nothing. Again, just ok. We won’t be going thrre again for anything.

Cheerful fish bar, basic functional décor with a pleasant waterside view over Hilary’s Harbour. I had the battered hake — perfectly acceptable(though I’ve had better), nice crisp batter, not too oily, good size piece of fish. The mountain of chips were very good — thick cut, properly cooked through with a slightly crispy exterior. Good value for Perth at under $ 20 total, including a drink. I’d come back here.
