When I walk into a surf shop I am only going to leave with a max of 3 items: havies(Havaianas), a bikini and possibly a summer dress. Core Surf smash my 3 purchase categories with a massive range of havies in all shades of the rainbow, a huge selection of bikinis(and trust me I have searched high and low for bikinis), and a few cute summer dresses thrown in for good measure. I am now pool party ready!

There is very little surf on Sorrento Beach, and approximately none in the completely enclosed Hillarys Boat Harbour, and yet Core Surf seems to do a very good trade. You would hope so, too, given its size: a clearing house sort of place like this, overflowing with brand name board shorts and surfing paraphernalia, would not last long if it wasn’t doing so kind of business. Surfing culture is not my thing and I cannot speak to whether or not the place appeals to those slightly intimidating flat-abdomened fellows who once runs into up and down the coast as they duck in and out of coffee shops without any shirts on. Probably it does: there were enough of them in the place when I went in to look into getting some board shorts for my own pasty and slightly doughy self. The staff are cheerful and willing to help and, while in the end I decided to hold off on getting any shorts at all, I know that I’ll certainly return to do so when the time is right.
