Akoya suite is great for weddings beautiful venue and great service. Certainly a top favorite of mine, the food is utterly exquisite too.

Went here on Saturday with a few friends for a casual drink after lunch. We were very impressed with the décor and ambiance in the establishment. There was a nice selection of drinks and ample seating both in and outside, to enjoy the fabulous view. Great place to spend a few hours enjoying the sunshine.

Love this place for drinks or decent food that doesn’t break the bank. House SSB is pretty decent too and they have a good cocktail menu, although pretty steep at $ 18 each. Half price pizzas are so good on Tuesdays!

This place is right on the water of Hillarys Boat Harbour so is a great spot for lunch or a drink. The menu is your typical pub fare, but just a bit fancier. On this occasion I had the beef skewers and a Greek salad which were great, although I did find the beef overcooked for my liking.

I love this place for an afternoon lunch. Great vibe, beautiful views and a decent menu. It can get very busy so you can’t always get a table but if you’re there at the right time, outside on the deck is the best place. I had a pizza, others had grilled barramundi and the hue chicken. Everyone was happy with their food and serving size. Will definitely go again.

Well the outlook is stunning. It’s a beautiful place to share a bottle of wine(or several) with friends as the sun sets over our gorgeous Indian Ocean. We truly are blessed here in Perth! The Breakwater is styled like so many pubs these days, but it does make the most of the views. The menu is appealing, providing you’re a meat eater, otherwise it is kale and quinoa salad or a tomato pizza for you! I’d like to see them extend their kitchen creativity for some more interesting vego options. I had the cheesy tomato pizza which was nice but perhaps more interesting cheese could be used on such a plain pizza. Overall a real nice experience and the perfect way to reunite with my grottie yachtie brother parked up at Hillarys Marina :)

You can’t get a better view at a bar in Perth! A sunset here is just magical! One of the best things about the Breakwater is the outstanding customer service — staff are friendly, attentive and always happy to help. The prices are a bit expensive but then you are paying for the location. I think the décor needs updating as it looks a bit tired and out of date now but you soon forget about that when we see the views! The food is yum and nothing beats ½ price pizza 5 – 9.30pm on Tuesdays! A must if visiting Perth or for a nice drink down the beach!

Nice atmosphere and decent food. It was pretty busy and there aren’t too many suitable places to sit and eat inside but we managed the little one in the sofa area. Staff were very friendly and good with my daughter. The only problem was that as it got busier the bar staff failed to cope and getting served became a bit of a task! My poor old Dad, who’s birthday we were celebrating also got overlooked several times at the bar for pretty girls! I’m going to get him a bday boy badge next time!

Tapas plate Tuesday. Perfect location and meal to start the week. The calmness of being surrounded by water is so soothing. Great venue to sit back and relax.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and loved the vibe! It was buzzing and there were people everywhere. Great venue with beautiful views … Perfect if your entertaining out of town guests. We ordered some share food which was really yummy, they have a great wine list with lots of different options — their cocktails are also really beautiful! Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!!

A short wander from the boat to indulge in a Tasmanian salmon and pint of Heineken, lightning on the horizon ESE wind stirring the warm night air… a day cramped in the yacht rewiring now sitting back soaking up natures display, got to love Hillarys

A nice setting on the water front but a shame they completely got rid of the character of the ‘old breakwater’(ie an actual pub). The crowd is half wannabe rich people pretending they’re in Orange County and half cashed up bogans pretending they’re worth the oxygen. The staff are generally terrible, aside from the odd backpacker who actually knows how to run a bar, and seem to lack basic people skills. Tip: look up and figure out who is next in line WHILEYOUREPOURINGTHECURRENTCUSTOMERSDRINK. There is zero personality coming from behind the bar, though it seems that is the ‘look’ management is going for. Then there are the prices. It’s almost like this place is proud to be so expensive, with no justification whatsoever. There is nothing standout at all I can say this place offers to warrant getting ripped off. The bouncers should also cop a mention. Though I’ve never had big issues myself, other than the standard rudeness/lack of professionalism that plagues that ‘industry’ in this country. At the breakwater I have seen people turned away for anything from wearing thongs/beachwear(your pub is literally at the beach!?!), wearing ‘shoes with a logo on them’(this was quite bemusing as two guys weren’t allowed in for wearing nice suede shoes that simply had small Nike logos on them… show me a pair of shoes without a brand somewhere on them!!!) to being in too large of a group(it’s a bar). Wow I got a little carried away there… In summary: it’s expensive for no reason, bouncers are dicks(more so than normal) and there is no culture/warmth to be found here. The only reason you should come here is if you have no transportation and are staying at the boat harbour.

Love Reid’s lounge! Tandoori chicken pizza and ginger mojito on the balcony overlooking the marina! Omg heaven on earth. Just do it! Could I be more in love with Perth than I am when I am at Reid’s? Maybe not!

Been here a few times since the big refurb. Never as my destination of choice and the other day I was reminded why. After I finally negotiated the bar situation where I had to be careful not to look at anyone the wrong way(the testosterone boganic aggression was palpable) I was able to hand over my $ 13 for a beer and set off to find some where to enjoy it. I managed to score a front row seat to a brutal eviction followed shortly thereafter by a very public display of domestic violence. Charming indeed!

I am reviewing a casual Sunday lunch @ The Breakwater, arriving 30 minutes after opening on a drizzly afternoon I was not certain what to expect of my first visit here. Since I said first you can probably gather I was at least impressed enough to at least head back; as anyone who reads my reviews will know, good devices is what takes you from 3 to 5 stars or perhaps down to 1; in this case the service was hit and miss — we had one excellent waitress who was super knowledgable and engaging to talk with, and another lad who almost dropped out plates on the table and ran off? The food was delicious and more than made up for the weather, we all had sea food; and shared a lovely bottle of wine. We were also treated to some music from the bar below, which while nice to eat too made it impossible to hold a conversation afterwards

The location is great, but sadly this is the only positive, the food is expensive, the portion size is very small, dessert was terrible, and the bill for two people and just tap water as the drink was 100 dollars, would not go again, although I haven’t eaten downstairs in the pub area, food might be better and less expensive, better quality too

I came here last week for a drink after dinner and wasn’t too impressed with the place! It is on a beautiful spot in Hilary’s and looks really good from the outside. We went in for a celebratory drink for my partners younger sister and he decided to order her a shot, only to be told they didn’t do shots there. He then asked for a rum and coke and they only had one rum option, which was a very cheap brand. The lady was then quite rude and said ‘if you want that type of drinking, try the mullaloo’. I thought it was a bit out of order as it was one drink, it wasn’t as if we were there to even get drunk, we just wanted to buy her something as she just aced her exams. We then ordered a vodka water, house white wine and beer and it was $ 30! Pretty expensive compared to many other places I’ve been! I have heard its nice on a sunny Sunday afternoon so would be interesting to check it out but with the prices I’m not sure id go back there!

It is an improvement on the old breaky in terms of looks. It seems as if the breaky has recieved a facelift and moved to a fancy location and lost it’s old charm. Sure the old breaky was a bit unclassy and not the prettiest of the harbour but it was comfortable and affordable. A casual place with your mates. The Breakwater now is stunning — lots of room, lots of I. D control by the bouncers(we were checked a second time while seated — thorough but annoying!) and it does have a great view. It gets very busy and has the usual mob of herve leger dresses with thick layer of makeup blondies and guys dressing up in their shirts and pointy shoes. Not my thing clearly but whatever makes them happy. I’m not too bothered with this place for social drinks. I will give them credit for the makeover but seems pretty shallow now.

We have been to the Breakwater many times but never have adventured upstairs to the Reid Lounge. Very stylish modern looking lounge. 5pm on a Sunday pre summer it’s very jammed packed and somewhat loud. If you can get a seat then this is a great place to have a few drinks and some nibbles with friends. If you are lucky to get a seat on the balcony there is a beautiful view of Hillary’s. New in the menu is the Stuffed Zucchini which tastes delicious! Also we really enjoy the half shelled scallops. Beautiful! These menu items are also available at the Breakwater.

I am rating the lounge higher than the main bar for three main reasons: 1– This space is much more conductive to having a conversation, and as such is much easier to catch up with friends. 2-The balcony has an absolutely amazing view that really adds to the experience. 3-The staff at reid’s lounge seems to be much more skilled at making cocktails than their counterparts at the lower deck. In total, these attributes make me a bigger fan of the lounge than downstairs.

Room with a view So I came back to this old haunt to catch up with a friend of mine last week. A great little pub with a decent view to go along with it. Service has never been lacking and the food has always been at a pretty high standard. We were both ready to chew our arms off on arrival and decided to order an Ocean Tastes platter each. Everything was cooked to perfection but at $ 36 a pop that is to be expected. Alas this was not filling enough so we shared 1 serving of 4 Garam Masala Beef Skewers with an accompanied yogurt dip. This was accompanied with a few glasses of wine. The weather was a bit hit and miss and it made me realise something. If it wasn’t for the view, the great food and service, would I be angered at being charged this much to eat and drink? A classy pub/restaurant indeed but then again as pretty much the most expensive one in Perth not really that surprising. So if you have DEEP pockets and want to play it safe go ahead but there are plenty of places offering the same quality food for a lot more reasonable prices.

The new Breakwater is a lot different to how I remember it back in the day. Yes, I am getting old. The location is great, with walls of glass overlooking the ocean and the beautiful sunsets. The furniture is slick, minimalist and modern. What else do you need with such spectacular views. But this place is expensive and pretentious. The girls are dressed up to the nines and look down on anyone that isn’t wearing a suit or designer clothes from what I can tell. They do have decent range of beers and ciders. But you will pay a lot for them. This is not a place that my mates and I will be comfortable to hang out on a regular basis.
