Allure

The first time I went inside Allure, the first thing that struck me — before I’d even looked at what they were selling — was the amazing smell. It smells deliciously gingery and spicy and fruity, probably due to the large number of fragranced things they sell — incense, scented candles, oil burners — a plethora of goodies to make your home smell oh-​so-​yummy. Once I’d got over the smell, I began to notice the furniture and homeware on offer, which all has a stylish, contemporary feel — kind of like what I’d expect to see in a ‘slick city pad’ for the ‘young professional’. Not really to my taste, but there are a few items that I would love to own, including some gorgeous red oriental-​style cabinets and the BIGGEST sofa I have ever seen. Literally, it’s about the size of my whole living room. It’s mind-​blowing.

I walk past allure almost every day, and to be perfectly honest I had no idea what it was until curiosity got the better of me and I decided to go in. To the casual observer, you see, Allure looks like a very fancy pants gift shop.
Which it kind of is. Allure sells exquisite and unusual furniture, sure, but it also sells exquisite and unusual homeware. It’s a gift shop for your house.
The styles and designs are really amazing, so if you’re looking for a bit of bling to add some sparkle to your house, Allure is the place for you.

My mum and I regularly shop at modern furniture stores for inspiration and new design ideas as we constantly are buying new ornaments, paintings, couches, you name it. Allure in Mt Lawely is one of our favourite shops, their pieces are funky and young looking, yet not so that they look out of place in an older home like ours. The staff are willing to assist you yet they do not follow you around and bug you like many do which I find really annoying as I simply like to browse and ponder on ideas, whilst imagining what it would look like in my own house.
I’m a big fan of the shaggy rugs, Allure stocks them in colours that I haven’t seen as other stores, their oversized lamp shades are also very funky, and so are their vases. Allure is a great store to head to, to pick up a few bits and pieces if you want to spice up a room and give it a new vibe without having to redo everything.

Allure is a spacious furniture and home wares store towards the bottom of Mt Lawley’s main strip on Beaufort St. What captured my attention was a huge couch that looked so incredible sitting at the front of the shop. It was truly amazing, if I could I would have bought it then and there, perfect for watching films on! There is a lot that Allure has to offer, as well as their interesting furniture they sell all sorts of homewares from art work and mirrors to lights and vases and ornaments and little knick knacks which collect on shelves. They even have a children’s range, which let’s face it, is always our funniest place to visit. There is a little room hidden out the back, set up as a living room to display their products, it is a good way to show people how their couch could fit into a room or how a piece of art looks not hung in a showroom. The staff are friendly and willing to assist as much as they can, they have a whole variation of furniture and if you are setting up your home it is a good place to come looking for some inspiration or something a little different to set a room apart from others.
