One of the better pub meals in the area. Cater well for food in tolerances and have a good variety of food choices. As I am gluten free I love that they have gf gravy! Kids meals are average same as everywhere else. Playground ok but small and suited to ages 4+. Never had a bad meal and meals always come out pretty quickly.

Great Service, the food needs a lift for the price. Nice balsamic glaze served with chicken breast needed to be on food not plate. Children’s meals need consideration for presentation and nutrition.

Everybody seems to love this place — but I feel like I’m missing something every time I go there. The food is average and the dining room is HUGE and I feel atmosphere-less. The ceiling is ten billion meters high and it makes it impossible to bring any life to the place. I have been there when it is quite busy, but I’ve also been there when we’ve been the second two people there, and they still sat us on the table that the other couple were sitting on when they were ordering. Awkward. The upstairs function room is very popular for birthdays and engagements, with it’s own bar and all the facilities needed for photos and speeches. They host poker tournaments and karaōke, but I haven’t been to see this in action. The pokies bar is always the busiest and you will see people having a smoke outside of this room at all hours of the night. When I can’t think of a pub to go to, I usually end up here, but I’m pretty much always disappointed.

Like Stuart, I found this place to be a lot less than it had been hyped up to me by my friends, and from my impression of the difficulty in getting a park when I went in for lunch. The prices are about average. Fifteen bucks for a chicken schnitzel isn’t a terrible price, in fact it’s reasonably fair. But it wasn’t the nicest schnitzel I’ve ever had. It wasn’t awful, it was just a bit, well, ordinary. But it was fairly quick in coming out, even with the reasonably large crowd eating lunch that day.

The Highbury Hotel is incredibly popular — I’d actually recommend booking ahead if you definitely want to dine there — however I found the food somewhat lacklustre when we went. I had salt and pepper squid — not really a hard dish to do well — and found the coating quite stodgy rather than crisp — my wife had a chicken schnitzel, with mushroom sauce, and the sauce covered less than a third of the schnitzel. The kids were quite happy with the nuggets and chips, but then that’s not really hard to please them with the standard fare. Like I said, this place is popular — there were several large family groups there when we were, celebrating birthdays and the like — maybe it’s just in a twilight zone where average food is seen as good, I don’t know… There’s lots of on site parking, even when it’s busy. Maybe we just found it on a bad night — but for the price paid I don’t think the quality was there. Not the best example of bistro dining in Adelaide unfortunately.
