Stopped by for a quick drink with my wife while we met a friend and was pleasantly surprised at «The Woody». I have driven past this pub every day for the last 12 years and always wanted to give it a shot. Although we didn’t have any food the Beers were freshly pulled and nice and cold. The service was friendly and the crowd were mostly blue collar working folk with cheery laughter and a hearty appetite. Some of the meals I saw coming out of the kitchen looked fabulous. Big portions of traditional pub grub. I will be back again one day to sample their wares. BBB+++ WILLBEBACKAGAIN!

A great local that reflects the owner’s labour of love in restoring this 1902 building to an authentic British-style pub. Food is hearty and servings are large, so sharing a main or limiting yourself to an entrée size is a good idea unless you are a champion eater! Kids are catered to with a few menu items and a colouring pack on arrival.

In a town full of rubbish pubs this a welcome relief. Honest, down to earth folk who know how to run a good boozer. Food portions are out of control(large), service is friendly and welcoming. The bottle shop stocks really good imported ales from the UK and there’s a massive bottled beer range.

A great local boozer! The Woodie is a run by a couple of Irish lads(whom, correct me if I’m wrong, I believe were the original owners of Rosie O’Grady’s in Northbridge all those years ago) that really know how to run a good old fashioned Irish pub. A great beer garden out the front which is always filled with punters on a sunny afternoon. The food is good old pub fare that is inexpensive, generous in serving size and very tasty for what it is — there is a reason the beer garden is full of a lunch time crowd every Friday and most other days. There is a small TAB area for those that fancy a punt on the ponies and a decent sized area in the back that includes a small stage which hosts live music, stand-up and the like on select nights.

Ah, the Woody. I have passed you so oft, yet never ventured beyond your green gates… until this year. I was on an all day pub crawl and the Woody was our last stop. Please read this review with the term ‘beer goggles’ in mind. No, I wasn’t actually that drunk. This is, of course, the proclamation that all smashed people inevitably stand by. Anyway, I’ll do my best to review this Guildford staple. We sat outside and I really enjoyed the outdoor ambience on a hot January night. Wooden picnic style tables on beautiful brick paving seemed pretty inviting after a hard day’s drinking. The greenery dotted around the courtyard created a lovely cooling feeling. A few citrus trees nestled in large terracotta pots added a nice touch. When we went inside to order the drinks I remember thinking it had a bit old school grunge feeling to it. This old pub of yesteryear definitely oozes character. The staff were friendly and personable and I will go back to try out this local when I ha– haven’t had six drinks beforehand. The Woody has its own car park so parking shouldn’t be a problem. They also have different things on throughout the week; karaōke, quiz nights and Irish music night, to name a few.
