Oh man I think I have a crush on George. Large retro pieces of furniture, lots of coloured glass bottles, and that little 60s drink cabinet that I have my heart set on. Swoonsville! I love taking a day to go antiquing in Guildford, and this is definitely one of my favourite shops on the Guildford antique shop strip.

I think this was my favourite out of all of the antique stores I visited in Guildford, probably because it was the first. They have a huge range of Royal Doultan crockery and their other china selections are just as impressive articulating the ages of people’s best fine dining sets. They had some amazing old type writers which are still in working condition. The selection of furniture is just amazing and truly beautiful. I loved looking at the old toys for children, the dolls were a little bit freaky though. I loved their coloured glass vases and bottles they also have some prints for sale too. They had awesome leather ottomans and lamp shades I wish I could fill my house with this stuff. Also if you hadn’t guessed from the store name they offer furniture restoration if you have something that needs tweeking or fixing.

Ii can spend hours in here, looking at all the figurines and furniture. I keep thinking about the people who use to own these items and wonder what the house was like that the item originally came from. The shop has rows of Furniture that date quite a fair way back, we bought a beautiful dressing table from here which was always in desperate need of repair, just another job we never got around to do, so it stayed neglected. Some of the furniture is pricey, but then you are buying a unique charm which really does become an artwork in the house. The little kitchen items are always great to look through, they have a good selection of 1950’s canisters, and a wonderful collection of art deco glass vases, which I just cant afford. They also sell a few records, pictures and mirrors here too. If you are in need of furnitire restoration, Georges also helps you out with that too.

Walking into Georges Furniture Restoration is like going back in time, for some reason this place feels a lot more authentic than the other antique stores along the road and I think it may be because of their careful selection of their products; wanting to have quality over quantity. With its squeaky wooden floor boards and marvelling artefacts, you should definitely visit Georges if you’re after large wooden antique furniture like book cases, kitchenettes, wardrobes and dressing tables. They also stock more rare items like Singer sewing machines and old radios, and have a colourful collection of glassware and interesting crockery and cutlery. If you’re looking for somewhere to restore your beloved antique artefacts, Georges Furniture Restoration will also be able to help you restore a second life to them.

George’s Furniture Store has heaps of antiques, old wares and furniture. They have old strollers, unique chairs, old typewriters, boomerangs, old school phones, paintings, jewelry and a huge selection of furniture. The furniture is rather expensive, or rather not cheap. If you’re looking for one of a kind furniture that’s great quality, this is a great place to come and take a look. My favorite items in the store were their vintage match boxes for $ 2 and also their classic old typewriter for $ 195. They buy, sell and restore furniture and antiques, so if you have something to spare… you might find you are able to barter for something in their store.

Restoration, exploration and a complete time warp– this store is an absolute charmer. With more class than kitsch, I spend easily 20 mins just browsing through cabinets of old tea cups and miscellaneous nick knacks. I’m also a sucker for wooden cabinets, wardrobes and boxes so I indulged in the treasure at my finger tips. The shop space is fairly small and there are so many items on display, I found it made the place feel more personal and intimate.(However it did evoke a repressed feeling of anxiety, walking through the china gauntlet of Myers as achild being told not to touch anything!) The stain glass windows, vases, pins, wardrobes and display cabinets are devine. There would be few who could browse here and not smile cheekily at something and sigh longingly for something else.(for me it was the«Lady Di and Prince Charles commemorative plate”-smile! and a beautiful wooden grandfather clock– sigh!) Price wise it’s a bit steep but there is no doubt in my mind that you wouldn’t get what you paid for. As for a one stop shop(including a restoration service) I think I’m onto a winner!
