It was cold, windy and wet. One thing on my mind was to get warm, Nutella latte sung out to me on the menu… price was a bit steep but it was pretty tasty. Service was fast but nothing to rave on about

On a cold day at Glenelg with our pooches Europa was the place to go to warm up with a delicious coffee! With great coffee and amazing heaters we were happy with our decision! The coffee is a little over priced($ 5.00 for a latte) and staff and service were basic.

The sprooker on the street outside was very convincing this morning plus this café had less Lycra about than the others nearby. He was right the coffee was good. I also ordered a toasted sandwich which was really nice and completely enormous. Plus generously stacked with ham, tomato and cheese. All great food. Mostly nice staff except the surly bloke who took our orders. He got surly when we(my friend and I) wanted to pay for our own orders. Hhmm.

This place is great for a hearty breakfast! Sizes are huge and both the quality and taste of food is great. My favourite is the grande bacon and eggs with a side of mushrooms! I haven’t ventured here for lunch or dinner yet but it’s definitely on my to-do-list!

This was not our first choice of place on the night, however they were accommodating to fitting in 12 of us on a Saturday evening! Basically pizza, pasta and other Italian goodies. I felt the prices were OK for where they are situated, but still a little over the top for my tastes. As such I went for the small pizza which is a good feed at 15.00 odd. Others tried the pasta, salt and pepper squid and other offerings, and although the food was good, it was not exceptional(general opinion). The waiting staff were superb though. Very helpful in explaining the dishes, the specials and taking drinks in a timely and orderly fashion. Nothing went astray which normally will happen with such a large group. I was going to give this three stars but the level of service really was good enough to justify the fourth!

An absolute institution in Glenelg: One of the best times to visit Europa is in the early morning. At this time you will find tables of cyclists and locals who have just walked their dogs or themselves. The most unique thing about this place is that you will see the same groups of people here just about every day, week in, week out. This says something about the place. I am one of these people and I go here for many reasons: The coffee is fabulous, strong, rich and creamy and the service is outstanding headed up by James, Tim, Jess and Tanya. If you venture in on a Saturday you will encounter Laurie at the helm of the coffee machine. He is quite possibly one of the happiest people I know. In the evening the atmosphere changes to one of fine dining. The restaurant part of Europa is warm and inviting, with windows that open up on to the footpath in the summer. I had one of my favourite fish meals here. I have eaten in the restaurant a few times and have never been disappointed. The ownership has changed in the last few months and as long as the new owners don’t change anything(except for their scrambled eggs which are disappointing) it will continue its superb reputation.
