I’ve been coming to this ‘heaven on earth’ chocolaterie for the last 6 years and haven’t once been disappointed. My poison is the chilli hot chocolate drink. i can’t put into words how amazing it tastes — especially on a cold, windy day when it’s raining outside. Their chocolates are exquisite, they sell them individually or you can buy a bag of your favorite’s to take home to share(or have to yourself). I bring everyone from overseas and interstate here and they all rave about Bracegirdle’s chocolates — my younger brother couldn’t get over the chocolate fountain on display as you walk in.

Amazing amazing salted caramel hot chocolates! They are my absolute fav, although I never seem to finish it because it’s quite a big serve! You can really taste the saltness and the sweetness of the caramel such a perfect combo! I usually just come here for hot chocolates though because I do find the other menu items are quite out of my budget for what they are! I do think this place is a bit overpriced at times! But if you want to have a splurge, I highly recommend! The staff here are also very nice and accommodating! The only thing though is the ambience is just not there for me, it doesn’t have me feel like I want to stay there for a long time or comfort! But still I’ll stick it out for one of there amazing hot chocolates!

I stopped in here for breakfast one morning after a place that I made reservations for along Jetty Road had given away my table and had no seating available. To my surprise, this was actually a pleasant experience sitting in here. My partner and I ordered the same meal and he ordered an iced coffee(was done a little too bitter) and myself a very yummy fruit smoothie or frappé — can’t quite remember. However, I do remember the meals being quite small for what you pay for. For myself not being a big eater due to medical reasons, this is fine receiving small portions, but for my partner who is a huge eater, he was left a little hungry. I don’t appreciate paying large amounts of money for small portions of food — that isn’t even gourmet food or presented in a way that would suggest that it was gourmet and for this reason I drop them a star. All over it was a great experience, the food was lovely in the end and my drink was superb — my partner may argue that the iced coffee should’ve had sugar in it.

Love Bracegirdles! Been here numerous times. The hot chocolate is fantastic(white is my favourite), waffles are to-die-for and the muesli dip is really delicious. … Went there today and had the Cheesy Beans special, it was really nice. Homemade baked beans on a cheesy baguette. The babycinos are cute, they come with a tiny gingerbread man.

Bracegirdles is the go-to place if you’re out around Glenelg, and are looking for a dessert place. It always seems to be open! They have a vast arrange of chocolates made by themselves, as well as an impressive array of other desserts and drinks. After ordering a yummy chocolate tart, I realised that I could have ordered a salted caramel hot chocolate! Next time, next time ;) This place would get 5 stars if they spent a bit of money on the décor … it’s looking a bit tired after all these years!

I can’t believe last night was the first time I’ve ever stepped foot into Bracegirdle’s, even after a year of hearing people raving over it. I didn’t expect to be able to have anything as I’m vegan, but the friendly girl behind the counter happily told me that the dark chocolate is vegan friendly. We ended up choosing the fruit & chocolate fondue. You get cut up pineapple, banana and strawberries on a plate with two little bowls of melted chocolate. My friend chose the milk chocolate and I of course chose the dark chocolate. They’ll happily do one dark and one milk for you if you ask. It was so delicious! The staff is really friendly and there’s also a comfy couch you can sit back and relax on. I’ll definitely be back.

Love love love! My favourite you ask? The iced chocolates(in any flavour but mainly the milk choc and the minty choc one…) Why, you ask? The chocolate, melted on top of the ice cream is nothing less that… divine. I love sitting upstairs here and watching the world go by, or popping in on a Sunday to sit alone and read the paper. The staff are lovely and everything on offer is brilliant — rich and indulgent — the kind of food that is set to make you smile from the inside! Some of the best chocolate I’ve ever had and they also do some great breakfasts — the omelets are delish, as are the croissants and I am sure everything else on the menu in this lovely little place — just don’t be disappointed if it’s full or you have to wait for a table — that’s just what happens when a place is this good!

I visited here around a week ago when I had a bad chocolate craving after a meal with friends, everything here looks great but the taste is not as good as other chocolate places around, after eating here I felt unwell from all the sugar. I know of several very good chocolate places and they do not leave me feeling unwell like Bracegirdle’s did, I recommend other places around Adelaide if you are prepared to take a trip, it will be more worth your time.

So everyone knows the all famous Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate, whether it be this shop or another and no doubt they do sell some of the best chocolate on the market. I treated my parents one Monday night; we were going to get coffee mainly and out of all of Jetty Rd, this place was the only place open at 8pm. My mother said the hot chocolate she had was incredible and my father was fairly chuffed with his portion of bread and butter pudding(much to my relief). My cappuccino was well made I’ll give them that, but it lacked something, perhaps it lacked flavour and was a bit on the weak side, which is not how I like my coffee. The place was super busy and uncomfortably noisy, but that’s only a sign that they have built up some what of a good reputation, which is true. If you’re after anything chocolate based, look no further, as this is by far the best along Jetty rd,(according to my mother anyhow)! Coffee-wise, go elsewhere, there are a few better café’s along the stretch, which are not as expensive and much more satisfying. The staff were very friendly, which always makes you feel welcome and as if you are being looked after, like a comforting feeling if you like, which is a big plus in any good café or business for that matter. Would I return? Perhaps, but I’m not a massive consumer of chocolate and there’s certainly better places for coffee. Bracegirdle’s does seem like a nice place to meet a few friends however, and the chocolate(if you like good chocolate) and desserts are to die for.

Like chocolate? Like Bracegirdles. But a quick tip… if it’s a summery weekend, you’ll have to get in early. Bracegirdle’s do chocolate on a monumental scale. There is no holding back when it comes to quality and their passion for the sweet stuff is evident in the sweet goodies they produce. It has netted them many awards as well as a very sweet following. Glenelg is the first Bracegirdle’s café to open, back in 2005. Perhaps it could even be said that it started the current dessert bar trend. Then again, I’m yet to find a dessert bar in Adelaide that does justice to the chocolate fondue… but more on that later. When you first enter Bracegirdles at Glenelg, you may be overwhelmed for the first few minutes. A chocolate scented venue, with chocolate coloured walls and sumptuous dark brown furniture that could have you surreptitiously attempting a nibble on the back of your chair. This place oozes the good stuff. Once you have overcome the first chocolate force-field, you are then faced with your next dilemna; what to order? There are two ways to approach this. If you are here for a ‘quick fix’ I suggest either ordering a coffee and one of their sumptuous desserts. Alternatively you could go for the hot chocolate or mocha made with liquid Belgian chocolate — I strongly advocate the dark chocolate! The other option here is breakfast or lunch. In this case order yourself a full meal with a cool drink, but ensure you save plenty of room for that all important Belgian hot chocolate and dessert for afters! And of course, there is the ultimate indulgence. Bracegirdle’s chocolate fondues are legendary! You could of course play it safe, and go for fruit… but let’s be honest. You don’t go to a chocolate /dessert bar in order to eat fruit. *Pfft!* You want to do this proper, and get the LOLLY fondue! That’s right… a selection of Allan’s lollies and a bowl of melty chocolate. Does it get much better than this? A great option for a small children’s birthday(if you can brave the resulting sugar-highs) or a playful date… or of course you could just self-indulge. And why not? At the end of the day, there is no one else who deserves such luxury than yourself. The only downside with Bracegirdles is that if you aren’t a real fan of chocolate, then you really are(to put it bluntly) stuffed when it comes to the menu. But then, you have no business being in a decadent chocolate emporium either. And what with all this chocolate, what with Bracegirdles, Haighs and Pink Lady, I think that Adelaide should be renamed City of Chocolate rather than Churches!

Bracegirdle’s has been flying the flag for dessert cafes in Adelaide for ever so long and their menu and chocolate selection highlights their long presence in the market. The Glenelg store is one of the biggest and their dining area spreads over two levels from the shop front to the long climb up the stairs to the balcony. As Julia C mentioned, the store is always crazy busy no matter the time of the day, and with people packed in and the floorboards echoing constantly, the store is rather loud and not ideal for long lazy chats and copious amounts of coffee. But the food is rather delicious, I’m a fan of the sticky date pudding and love that hot chocolate is drizzled on everything. Bracegirdle’s is priced at the same level as most of its kind, although I find the coffee and hot chocolates to be a bit more expensive then I would like. Their truffles and handmade chocolates are superb, delicious and delectable they rival Haigh’s in the milk chocolate department and the colours they make them in are astounding. Bracegirdle’s at Glenelg has the largest selection of take home chocolates and truffles than the other stores and the selection ranges from the classic scorched almonds to house specialties. Worth the visit when you’re down Jetty Road.

Located on the busy Jetty Road in Glenelg, Bracegirdles would get 5 stars if you could sit in here without it being so busy all the time. Having their chocolate sipper(where you melt your own chocolate and add milk, so no one can judge you but yourself with how much chocolate you like in your drink) sitting on the balcony on a nice evening is just devine. In summer, their cold drinks are perfect, but in the evening/night time, it is always crazily busy. This place is also great for gift ideas. Their chocolate shards and blocks are textured, flavourful and stunning.

Why you should probably keep reading has to do with waffles. Also chocolate, but mainly waffles. Bracegirdle’s sounds like it’s a name straight from a storybook, so how fitting that it’s a house of fine chocolate. In fact many differing companies talk about the«wow» factor, and as far a chocolate stores go, Bracegirldes definitely has the«yum» factor. On my last trip to Bracegirdles I decided to order the chocolate waffles. I should mention that thanks to Cocolat, chocolate waffles are number one on my December favourites list. Living up to desired expectation, Bracegirdle’s provided an orgasmic chocolate treat, and although not at all comparable to the waffles at Cocolat, they were just as brilliant in their own distinctive way. The melted milk chocolate on the side was so smooth and creamy. The waffles were soft, deliciously warm and served with a generous amount of fresh strawberries and quality vanilla ice cream. Numerous other chocolate delicacies also hide away within the cosy Bracegirdle’s two story residence. Given that it is nearly Christmas time the chocolate store had also lifted its festive spirits with gorgeous stocking fillers providing a terrific gift. I remember when I was sick in hospital I received the famous Bracegirdle’s brown box, and when I opened the lid inside were miniature cupcake chocolates. Such a lovely gift, although I recall not wanting to eat them because they looked too perfect.

Lonely gentleman, heed me! This review shall complement Ovid’s ‘The Art of Love’. Let Ovid tell you where to find a lady(he points helpfully to Rome), and how to gain her attention(by brushing dust from her shoulder to achieve physical contact), but for where to take the lady once the courting has begun, listen to me. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of any meagre sum of fortune, ought to take his lady to Bracegirdle’s. Nothing says romance like an enormous mug of rich, liquid chocolate sipped atop a balcony overlooking the hustle and the bustle of jetty road(which seems far distant when reflected in the sheen of your lady’s beautiful eyes). But wait, boy! Don’t be overeager. Before you mount the steps in search of the view, be sure to aid the lady in her selection. The daring gentleman might encourage the lady to try some chilli in her hot chocolate, and when she declares her lips are aflame, offer to quench the fire with your own! Before the night is done, my protégé, temporarily depart under the pretence of a bursting bladder. Sneak downstairs and purchase some takeaway chocolates for the lovely maiden. Take no hurry to return to her, as she shall grow fonder of you the longer you keep her waiting, but when you are again by her side, say nothing of the chocolates. Wait until you’ve escorted her back to her estate — until you’ve each bidden the other goodnight. Present her then with the chocolates and later, as she samples them, she will associate your name with the pleasure brought on by the taste.

Who doesn’t like Chocolate? That’s why desert houses with«Chocolate» in their name will always have a place in everyone stomachs. This place is busier than a beehive boasting many chocolate treats. They aren’t good for you, but isn’t that the damn point. Pure Indulgence is literal. Waffles lathered with sugary chocolate and icecream topped with fresh berries will make your inhibitions cease. Turning you into a giddy chocolate-spasming marauder. «More deserts! More!» I cried. Sampling their menu its not surprise they have won a multitude of awards for just being the best of the best.

Bracegirdles is one of the most consistent dessert places you will come across. Their desserts are always delicious and well-presented. Their chai lattes are amazing. With indoor and outdoor seating, you can choose to either relish the buzzing crowded atmosphere inside, or enjoy your drinks and dessert while watching the world go by in bikinis and board shorts. The furniture is comfortable, however get in quick if you’re with more than 3 people. This place fills up fast!

This shop is one of my favourite haunts as I am a chocoholic among other things. Bracegirdles opened up in Glenelg about 5 years ago. When it first opened it was a tiny long shop that you couldn’t swing a cat in, A few years ago, the owners took a deep breath and leased the shop next door to expand. You can now swing many cats at a time! if it is empty that is, which is rare. The café is busy(choccas even) especially after dinner for their amazing deserts and chocolate fondues. As you enter, you see the wondrous chocolate fountain in pride of place, along with rows and rows of exquisite chocolates hand made on site from imported Belgian chocolate. The menu of chocolaty delights goes on forever and will bring a smile to the faces of adults and children alike. My favourite drink is the milk chocolate mocha. Another interesting drink is the chilli hot chocolate which is surprisingly good. Apart from the amazing deserts, I love their roasted vegetable filo. The shop’s interior is reminiscent of the movie Chocolat with lots of wood and brown rich hues. For something different you can sit upstairs on the balcony and watch the passing parade(at least you wont be tempted to throw the chocolate at anyone it is far too good.)
