Really not joking don’t eat a thing before eating here, the servings are huge and value for money. The meat mix platter will feed four people very well. It’s not a big venue but that’s what adds to the aroma with the classic old photos of yesteryears from Greek movie stars adds to the charm.

Awesome food. Shit service. Do not, I repeat, do not get takeaway from here. Was told our food will be ready in 45 minutes but when we got there they hadn’t even started cooking.

As a chef of 20 years that has worked in several Greek restaurants in Adelaide, Kefi is the best Greek food in Adelaide. Amazing food, top quality, huge serves, and very well priced. Try it and you will have a top quality meal.

If Greek Gods were to dine on earth, they would dine at Kefi. Yes, a massive statement, but it is true. Kefi serve mountains of chargrilled meat of your dreams. Greek food is a wonderful thing. It brings families and friends together. There is generally some sort of celebration in a Greek Restaurant. There is always a lot of laughter, hugs and noise Kefi is no exception. That is what I love about it, it feels like a cultural and loving experience. So, what does Kefi do so well? Three things: 1. Quality 2. Skill 3. Portion Size. Greek food is not complicated; they tend to bring out the best features in food. For example, my favourite dish at Kefi is the mixed souvlaki. Oh, even just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It is like a drug, I need a fix. The Souvlaki in chargrilled and marinated and seasoned so perfectly it is just heavenly. It tastes smoky, salty and a little acidic. There is a lot of skill in the preparation and cooking of this meat. The mixed is some pork, chicken and lamb skewer served with crispy potato wedges, tzatziki, pide bread and salad. I would just like to mention the pide bread. Usually served as an accompaniment. But at Kefi it stands out as a main part of the dish. It is fluffy, fresh and should be eaten with all items on your plate. The final thing to mention is the portion sizes. Now, if you are adventurous you could try a large size. But be prepared for a mountain of food and a coma to follow for a week. You get amazing value for money here. I think this is one of the another reason why people love it here. I always leave with a doggie bag and amazing lunch for the next day. Kefi, you have made true believer out of me.

After reading so many mixed reviews on UrbanSpoon, last night consolidated the fact that people on there have some twisted ideas of what their experience should be. Managed to score a table on their last night of operation before a month closure. Booked 2 weeks in advance. The staff on the phone were very helpful in finding me a place as it was a bit of a ‘boys’ dinner and was pretty keen to get it in before xmas. Booked a table for 10 for 8pm. Seated at 8:20pm — a few people in the group were a little annoyed as they needed to get up at 4am for work travel today. However, I didn’t see it as an issue. Seated. Not as squishy as I have read in other reviews. It was hot in there(30+ yesterday) — small area, lots of bodies and lots of cooked meat. It cooled down as people started leaving at 9pm. Service — I found the service reasonable. Laid back/very casual. Pretty good on drinks service(only ordered beers and softies). Only gripe, was the host didn’t know what was in the ‘banquet’ and couldn’t shed much light on what it included or how it worked. Again not an issue really: banquet at Kefi — we just said we will leave it to the chefs, bring out whatever you recommend! 8 of us got a banquet — 2 got a mixed grill between 2. There was a lot of food. Everything was very good, some meat was a bit too salty(pork rib) but the souvlaki was tender and juicy — exceptional. Prawn skewer were a highlight too, must be the season for prawns cause these were the boss. Quail had a lot of flavour too Included: Dips with lots of pita/Zucchini balls/Big plate of squid/Prawn Skewer/Greek salad/Potatoes Pork sausage/Pork rib/Lamb cutlet chop/Quail/Chicken and Lamb souvlaki. Honestly I was in awe of the amount of food $ 50 per head got us. Plates and dishes kept coming out. We didn’t get close to finishing. As others have said, take away is available if you don’t wake up through the night with meat sweats and can down it the next day. I would have been keen to try cheese: saganaki — next time. There are things I don’t like about Kefi — the venue is too small. Tapleys Hill Rd(residential) has no flair to it/nothing to do outside of the restaurant itself(we got coffee down the bay after). The décor is average. All of these things aside, I am there to eat and that is why I give them 5*.

The best Greek I’ve tried in Adelaide! Go easy on ordering as portions are always massive but if you do over order as I always do, no need to worry as 95% of people take away what’s left. Try the octopus!

Favourite Greek restaurant in Adelaide. BIG servings and tasty food. Must book well in advanc to make sure you get in. Tables are very close together and it’s quite loud but the food makes up for all of it. Must try the mixed grill! There will be leftovers for lunch the next day.

Visited with family and we had a great meal. As recommended by our friendly waiter we ordered a banquet which allows you to choose 7 dishes the Mezes. All the dishes were great! The banquet allows a choice of 7 dishes to share, we had dips, octopus, lamb, meatballs, haloumi, prawns, calamari. There was plenty of food, we had to take some home because we couldn’t eat it all. All the dishes had their unique twist and flavour. Décor isn’t fancy, but the food is great and the service was very good. Highly recommended.

OMGWTFBBQ is the best description I can come up with for Kefi. Kefi is 100% my favourite place to take people. Why? Because they all get a huge surprise when you say to them«Don’t eat today, just don’t!» Mountains of meat, potatoes, bread, salads, saganaki, cheese, dips, foodfoodfooooood! I highly recommend only ordering one entrée and one main if there are only two of you, but the staff are good enough to let you take it home if you don’t finish it. Their service is neither here nor there. Honestly, it’s not half arsed, it’s just hardly there. Not that you mind, you always get what you want. Book in advance, and by that I mean weeks in advance or you will not get in.

Oh My God. The Food. So much food. I was told to prepare for our trip to Kefi; basically, don’t eat for a week before coming here, and you won’t need to eat for a week after leaving. Sometimes restaurants are weird. You don’t know their real purpose. Are they trying to be trendy, are they trying to follow the fads, do they just want to take all your money? There’s no mistake when it comes to Kefi’s purpose; they just want to feed you. We knew we were in for something good when we got out of the car to the tasty tasty smell of meat wafting over the entire neighbourhood. I pity the neighbours that live near this place, especially any vegetarians. We started off with bread and dip, and not a measly offering that you seem to get at some places. The bread tasted like it had just been left soaking in olive oil for days(this is a good taste, seriously), and the dips were all tasty. Then came the haloumi like cheese, in big almost toast sized cuts. We knew we hadn’t even got to the proper entrees yet, s**t was about to get real. What followed was a bit of a blur. Mountains of squid, meatballs the size of tennis balls, greek salad with tasty feta, and a meat plate for 8 that would have been more than enough if it was our only course. Kefi isn’t like a lot of places that feed you huge portions. It’s not a case of quantity over quality, here you get a huge ‘quantity’ of great ‘quality’ food. So get a big group together, and be prepared to share, this way you’ll get to sample the whole menu without leaving a pile of unfinished food or rolling your way home. We skipped dessert, but I did spy some tasty Greek desserts at one of the counters. The one downside: service seemed neither here nor there. It wasn’t bad service, no one seemed grumpy, but it just wasn’t *good*. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s almost impossible to move through the restaurant because the tables are packed so tightly together. I think it must be hard competing with the noise & the space constraints.

I remember being in Athens a while back and eating copious amounts of char-grilled lamb to the point where it was either insane or illegal. But it was so godamn delicious I couldn’t stop myself. The closest I’ve come to recreating this experience is the lamb at Kefi. It is juicy, tender, tasty, perfectly char-grilled, the stuff of legends. I watched the Big Bang Theory recently and Sheldon claimed Greek food was«little cubes of lamb that tasted like sweat». How dare he! Come to Kefi and say that you big-brained, still lovable knob. In a nutshell — best lamb you’ll ever taste(except for in Greece)!

WOW! Two words — portion control! The individual meals served at Kefi are the size of platters fit for two to three people. What’s worse, they are delicious, freshly prepared Greek food, super tasty with lots of salt that keeps you eating well past your last belt hole. This place is basic and modern, but not very pretty. Functionality is key– although the tables can be very tightly packed, but this is a necessity as a result of high demand. Kefi can be hard to contact and hard to book due to its popularity and limited opening hours. The service is relatively attentive, but it is the food that dictates their near religious following of loyal customers. I was fortunate enough to sample such delights as Saganaki, Sardines, Meatballs and prawns baked with tomato and feta before I had to roll to the beach to work through my desire to take a nap. Great for size kings and queens who aren’t fussed about ambiance!
