Scope Cafe

The café has a nice atmosphere to it. The coffee is average though, most of time it comes out lukewarm. The breakfast and lunch could be improved. Many of the dishes are overpriced, for example $ 10 for a ham and cheese croissant, $ 16 Bircher muesli (small bowl of Bircher, small bow of berries and yoghurt). It’s an ok café to visit but not on top of my list of Cafes in Perth to visit. The café needs a few improvements.

I understand that it must be very difficult to compete with the long standing breakfast and brunch spots in the Western Suburbs, they’re literally everywhere. This to me seems like the perfect reason to try harder, boost your staff and find a niche market.
The general eggs and coffee breakfast is borderline overdone already. Even if the coffee is good (which it is) they need to back it up with good service and good food.

The first person to review Scope said that its coffee must be good because nothing else appears to be. I will agree that the service leaves a lot to be desired – seriously, someone’s standing at the counter for two minutes waiting to order and no one so much as moves a muscle? – but the coffee really is all it’s cracked up to be. There’s a reason the place is full, in other words, and the quality of the caffeine is it.
Actually, there’s another one, and that’s probably the general vibe of the place. There are knick-​knacks all over the place, there’s a quirkiness in the air, and generally speaking it’s a nice place to stop and read the paper or else shoot the breeze. It’s certainly more conducive such things than, say, the nearby Delish, which has a cookie-​cutter feeling to it that these place eschews absolutely with its idiosyncrasies. So what if the staff are rude or unresponsive? Don’t tip the jerks. That’s your prerogative.
