Held on the last Saturday of every month inside Yah Yah’s, the Crate Digger Record Fair is a great place to hang out on a lazy weekend afternoon. When I’ve been there, it’s been joined by vintage clothing stalls as well, meaning that the inside of the venue has been quite packed, with the clothing stores around the outside and the record vendors in the centre. And there’s been a pretty big range of records, at least outside of the really massive fairs that happen out of the inner city these days — lots of soul and blues, rock’n’roll and a fair share of ‘80s stuff. The bar is open, which means that after you’re done wandering and chatting and spending up, you can get a beer and sit in one of the booths and chat some more, or just stare lovingly at your new records.
