I like to think I know a little about the burger scene in Adelaide and this place is right up their with the best if not a top 3. Surrounded by Asian supermarket and restaurant it stands out as the odd one out nothing flash from the outside but boy once you walk in it hits you with the aroma of beef patty and bacon smell. Not too bill inside probably able to seat 20 people I can assure you you must try this place 2min from the Arndale cinema make a perfect night of it.

So, with all the burger joints that have popped up around Adelaide in the last couple of years, this is a big call. But I think I may have found the best burger in town! This little place is a bit out of the way. The first time I tried to find it I thought I was in the wrong spot. It’s definitely worth the extra drive, just keep your eyes open for the sign or the line going out the door! Head in early to avoid a big line, although they do move through orders pretty quickly. There’s a little bit of seating in the store and outside but don’t bring a huge group of friends here — it’s better for the one-on-one catch ups. There’s always an interesting special available as well as the regular menu. My tip is to follow them on Instagram or Facebook to see the day’s creation! Expect ingredients like angus beef, pulled pork, karaage chicken, garlic prawns, beetroot relish, various cheeses and even baked beans to be on the menu. The flavour combinations are creative and everything I have had here works! You can upgrade your burger to include a drink and a side of ‘hashtags’(waffle fries) for an extra $ 5, and it’s worth it as the hashtags and deliciously spiced and perfectly crunchy. They also have a range of more unusual soft drinks available as well as some creative shake flavours(banana caramel pie anyone?). Be prepared to end up messy, with sauce running down your arm and scooping up with your fingers all the bits that have fallen out during your meal. Probably not a first date recommendation but just the way a good burger should be! I think about the deliciousness at 127 Days often and am looking forward to my next visit!

Oh, 127 Days, the things I could say about you. You came to me, an unknown burger place, long after I had fallen in love with others. You tried to steal me away from them with your perfectly made buns, your fantastic medium rare meat patties, your wonderfully done chicken and your utterly delicious sauces… Your wily ways definitely succeeded you saucy minx of greasy deliciousness. Over the two months since I’ve discovered you I’ve had nothing but positive experiences, with a vegetarian burger that marries its ingredients together perfectly with one another, but are still complimented with the addition of bacon. A perfect bacon cheeseburger that delicately provides a wonderful balance of flavours with a tangy sauce. But the Godzilla burger. I knew when I read you that I would probably be enamoured with you for some time, but even I wasn’t prepared for the loving embrace of chicken masterfully crumbed and seasoned, with a signature beef pattie that is utterly and completely divine. You provide me with a spice hit just on the border between pleasure and pain, coming from someone who only enjoys medium spice. I love you… Enough to have ordered you now three times in a single month. Add to this the speakeasies. Knowing I can turn up on any day and ask for a burger without knowing what I will receive in return? Genius. I could look at your daily photos on networks to find out, but why ruin the surprise? Surprise was what I got when I ordered one such burger only to find it had delicious pork belly waiting for me. So far, no speakeasy has disappointed, even though I know a day will invariably come when it will. To say that 127 Days is the perfect burger place would be wrong. While it is definitely my favourite, outweighing technically excellent places like Burgerstronomy and Bread and Bone, it isn’t perfect. Some menu items can be a little bland and flat. Squealed with a Kiss is a perfect example of this, where the Pulled Pork is an ‘okay’ at best. Similarly another menu staple, the Croydon Cheesesteak, is essentially a BBQ Chicken pizza(with beef instead of chicken) in a bun, and is quite the let down, especially if you are familiar with the significantly more well known and balanced Philadelphia Cheesesteak. The sides are flavourful, and nothing to complain about, but they don’t hold a candle to the burgers, the same could be said for their shakes, which outside of their custom creations of the day, can be quite generic and typical«burger bar» fare. But the truth is I’ve eaten at 127 Days more in two months than I’ve eaten at any other burger place in two years, and I still crave it, even today when you aren’t even open. If that’s not a sign of good things, then I don’t know what is.

So, we all know that burgers are a massive thing in Adelaide. I am always on search to try new destinations, and there seems to be a new place opening up every couple of months. One of the amazing Elite Unilocalers Stefan G was very excited to point me in the direction of 127 Days. This burger joint is a little trek for me, just off Days and Regency Road. But, now that I have been there I will travel with friends to return. The restaurant isn’t huge, but they have made good use of the space with small tables throughout and a bar table against the window. There are a couple of outdoor tables too. They need the seating, because this place is busy! Very surprising for this area and exactly what they needed. First tip, check out their daily special burger on their facebook. I tried their Dynamite Speakeasy which was a chicken and sweetcorn pattie, served with Cheese, Bacon, Jalapeños, Slaw & Chipotle Aioli! Hell yeah! It was so good, great seasoning in the burger and definetly something different to the other burger joints. They also had a wall of chilli sauces to dose up on as well. I should also mention if you do go here, check out the hash tag fries. They are slightly battered and spiced. So good! Now, I want to go back and try other burgers. But my thoughts after leaving this place are this: This is one of the best burger destinations in Adelaide. Bang on with their burger selections, service and aesthetics of the place! Love it so much and looking forward to try the 127 Ways to Die — Beef Pattie, Jalapenos, Tabasco, chilli, onion, hot cheese and chipotle aioli! Yessss!

Been waiting a fairly long time to try this place as whenever we wanted to go it seemed to be closed. However now with better trading hours we managed to get there! After eating healthy all week we decided to have a calorie splurge and get some 127 days, and honestly we were disappointed!!! The burger patty itself was cooked to perfection but lacked flavour, any flavour to be honest. The cheese got lost, it didn’t taste full bodied at all. Bacon was stringy, fat not rendered at all, and just was not pleasant. Bacon not pleasant, what? The 127 chicken however was delicious and the hand cut fries were yum, but really not enough to save this«burger» place. Will give it another whirl but will be trying the Croydon Steak, let’s hope it better then burger.

Unfortunately 127 days did not meet my expectations! It was quite the drive to get there but I had heard great things so was up for it. First disappointment was that as walking back to the car with the food I noticed the fries were only half filled in their bag. Once we arrived home to eat the fries were just nothing spectacular, very mediocre. I ordered the old fashioned angus beef burger and it honestly had a weird taste to it… I couldn’t even finish the burger. However, on the bright side it was one of the cheapest dinners ever so that makes me less annoyed. Overall I would not recommended.

I enjoyed my 127 Days experience. Our first attempt was sadly truncated when they were out of buns. On a Friday night. At dinner time. *crickets* Anyway, we gave it another go and it was worth it. The patties are juicy, and not overcooked — warning to those who have a breakdown over any reminder that meat comes from animals — the patties are pink in the middle. Deal with it. Embrace it. There are pickles and sauces and other good stuff, but the standout item is the hashtag fries. Cute and Crunchy! They also have some gem drinks like Woodie’s lemonade to wash down your feast. Get in at a Nan & Pop hour to beat the rush.

After hearing of a burger joint in the ‘burbs and not a hefty drive from home, I decided to give it a whirl one night after reading all the rave reviews. When we arrived it wasn’t packed as yet which was good as it got crazy busy soon after. I love the wide array of drinks in the fridge. We opted for the guava soda drink, my son got the Tim Tam milkshake. I ordered 127 Ways To Die and my mum got the Squealed With A Kiss, the kids shared a Cheese Banga burger. 127 Ways To Die was just so spicy, it was perfect! I love spicy food and I love the different elements of spice in this burger with the jalapeños and chipotle mayo. I do wish the patty was thicker and charred on the outside. On the positive side the patty was lovely and pink on the inside, I like that The pulled pork in my mums burger lacked flavour and tasted like it was boiled in water with a few spices. It was watery and not saucy at all. The burger was too plain and boring for my liking. Would’ve loved the pork to be cooked until it was in a thick caramelised sauce. The cheese banga burger had way too much red onion it overpowered the burger and my kids found it difficult to eat as it wasn’t appealing getting a mouthful of thick onion slices. My suggestion would be to look at incorporating some small little sliders on the menu as it may appeal to parents with small children. The hashtags were a nice side and lovely and crisp. The Tim Tam milkshake tasted just like a normal chocolate shake but with a dusting of crushed Tim Tam on top. Meh, nothing special. All the burgers were crazy sloppy and messy to eat. If you are a lady(or man lol) who eats delicately and worried about getting juice on your chin, neck, fingers, clothes and table. Then this place isn’t for you. I’d come here again since it’s closer to come than some of the other burger joints I frequent but I can’t say it’s up there as a favourite. Maybe because they are new they haven’t fine tuned everything. Hoping next time I’ll enjoy it better.

Yesterday you realized that most new food places in Adelaide are sticking to a safe formula disregarding quality, creativity, innovation… You thought — geez, Adelaide is as boring as outsiders criticize it… Tomorrow — you will go to 127 Days and snarf a burger. You will arrive and will notice that the smile on your face is because there is this little business outside the CBD that is interested in doing the right thing, in putting effort in the decoration, in catering good food at reasonable prices… This place is great and I really hope it is a sign of better things to emerge in the suburbs. Good burgers, good fries(I guess waffle fries are so new in ADL that they receive a more modern name — hashtags), good ambience, good staff. $ 15 will get you satiated with a burger, fries and a drink. $ 17 will get you the same except it will be a more elaborate burger. Yay! I’m a fan!

We walked in the place for the first time and the ambience was cozy and contemporary. The staff were very nice and accomodating. Their music playlist were great! We were eating while listening from frank sinatra to rap music to rnb. It was great! We ordered the mushroom melt and the vegetarian burger. For us it was a 9⁄10! The price was very reasonable for amazingly tasty burgers. It is a must try, people of Adelaide!

Finally a good Burger Joint not far from home. I stumbled across this recently and couldn’t wait to try. But had to as they are only open late in the week for dinner. I arrived to a packed house, with standing room only. The place itself has a laid back style that works very well I think. some benches along the windows and a handful of tables fill the place with the servery and kitchen ‘up the back’. Sound level was more than fine, you can hear them call your name from one end to the other when picking up the take away. The background music fit it well. The food, so hard to make a decision, that’s for sure. There’s a great range of basic, and more ‘gourmet’ Burgers to choose from as well has 3 choices of fries(Chips, Tots and Hashtags) There are other Eats available too from Fried Chicken to Arancini balls and Cajun Cheese Fries So I finally decided on «The Italian Job» with HashTags, go them home and delighted in the eating. The meat patty was nicely cooked and tender, the sesame seeded bun fresh and tasty plus the rest of the fillings. What more can I say but. «I’ll be back»

I had driven past this place a few times and couldn’t work out what the name of it meant. Mainly because I don’t live in the area and didn’t know ‘that’ was Days Rd. It all makes sense now. Had I known earlier, I would have gone earlier, but thanks to the little Unilocal annotation in my search results saying ‘trending’ or the equivalent, I had a closer look and recognised a review from Alicia. Having jumped off the ‘Chuckwagon’ and becoming a bit tired of burgers I couldn’t have stumbled over this one at a better time. Post a big gym session and close to one of my gyms, I’ll be hitting this one again. Walked in and the interior of the place is clean and straightforward, and it looks pretty cool. It was overly busy as the word must have been out that this place was good. As soon as I picked up the menu, the fried chicken burger jumped out at me. Only $ 8… upon ordering we were politely asked to wait 30 minutes for our order which wasn’t an issue. Driving to next venue and reparking is a waste of time, so we waited. Decided on a chicken burger and a standard beef burger(one patty no mayo), side of tots and lemonade for $ 22. The chicken burger was really good, fresh and good quality chicken. After a few bites of my chicken burger, I was thinking«Damn, this is good… I am going to save it for after the beef burger» and put it to the side… So I switched over to the red meat variety. The beef patty in the burger was not over cooked which was great. All ingredients were good. Too much red onion which was easily removed. After downing that, I got back into the chicken burger. Being deep fried, my only complaint was that it was too oily with what I suspect was butter as well as mayo as condiments. They could have sat the chicken breast piece of some paper towel or something, but hey I’m not really complaining… but when you are eating that much food, a little less fat helps it go down. The burgers are a decent size. I won’t be tackling two burgers here again as it felt like I was on an eating challenge. The tots were pretty good. Exactly the same as ‘Potato Gems’ which I sometimes cook up in the weber at home for a side. All in all, get out of Norwood or North Adelaide and trying something different. ***Update: 11⁄08: Took a friend here today for lunch. He loved it. I got a ‘Chicken Fry’ again, this time without butter. It tasted amazing! All super fresh, no burger crash post meal, felt really good! Service was fantastic today. Hard working, friendly people who are set to make their mark in their market. Loved the old school hip hop tunes coming out today including Roots Manuva, Beatnuts and Biggie. Upgraded to 5 star.

A tasty and solid burger — and for a decent price too! 127 Days may not be in the nicest part of town, but the good stuff normally isn’t! The cute little burger bar has a funky interior to offset the seedy surrounds and a menu with a great range of choices for lunch and dinner(if you dare to come after dark.!) Today I ordered the Cheese Banga and a side of #tags(a variation on chips, deep fried pieces of potato in the shape of a # symbol). I was impressed by the quick and friendly service and when my burger hit the table I was impressed by its size — at only $ 8,(plus $ 4 for the #tags) it certainly was worth the price! The enormous pattie went right to the edges of the well sized bun and the first bite of the burger was delicious — cheesy, saucey and yummy! I did notice that the pattie itself was a bit bland however it was redeemed with the addition of flavours from the sauces. The accompanying #tags were a nice difference to chips and I loved how crispy they were however they were pretty greasy and could have done with some kind of interesting seasoning… I think I’ll certainly be back — and hopefully they start to get a bit creative with the burger patties to push the review up to a five star!

We went last night and got the Mushroom Melt, the Mother Trucker and the classic Cheeseburger. Absolutely delicious!
