The amazing view of the river and staff made this an incredible surprise birthday dinner. The chef really took it home with the best seafood dishes I’ve ever eaten. Truly a special night.

We had a lovely lunch– the setting along the Swan River is one of the best and is visible from most of the restaurant. The menu is interesting and the food is excellent– great flavor — quality over quantity– don’t expect your plate to be filled with fried chips The service is friendly and efficient without being obtrusive or pompous. Without any asking they organized a birthday plate for my mother-in-law’s birthday which really made a nice end to the day. Highly recommend — a great place for the special occasion or overseas guest-we will definitely visit again

Came here for a date night early this year. Food was okay. We had the seafood plate and lamb & vegetables with a nice bottle of red. All food was cooked nicely but there just wasn’t very much of it to warrant the exuberant prices. Wine was lovely but for $ 45 a bottle so it should have been. Service was okay, we were seated in a bit of an awkward spot near the bathroom with a high chair at our table for some odd reason. The waiter did seem a bit condescending to us when we asked what a few of the dishes were. We both came to the realization that we are not a fine dining couple & would much rather sit with the masses at a restaurant in chinatown than fluff about with tiny servings & crazy prices, whilst being made to feel like we are kids playing mums & dads. Won’t be returning.

Still good food but less impressive than before. Service is above average. Price is fair for the location but would like to see improved wine selection.

Let me be clear, the wait staff here are very friendly. The food is above average. The service from management s completely awful. I was here for a wedding and not only were accused of turning the speakers around and up resulting in a noise complant from residents at 930pm, but we were also refused to pour our own bottles. That would have been fine had it not been for the attitude given when i asked the question. Instead of a polite no when i asked for a bottle of comlementary sparkling, i was sarcasticly given the answer of ‘I can give it to you if you want to pay the $ 75,000 fine.‘ Also shots here are a rip off…$ 14.50 for a tequila??? Talk about not caring about clientele. The last thing the Bride & Groom want to hear on their night of nights is ‘hey, did you mess with our speakers. Keep it down’, at 930pm no less. Poor form. The views are excellent but are let down by frantic, self absorbed management.

My husband and I eloped and went here for dinner afterward. So happy with our choice, and I’m pretty sure it’s not because we were loved up. Right from ringing up to make our reservation, through to sorting out the bill at the end of the night, the service was friendly and impeccably good. We needed to have a late booking on account of our ceremony, and an 8.30pm was not a problem, nor did we feel rushed at all. The food was lovely, I had oysters for entrée. I’ve had oysters at a few other high end restaurants over the Christmas break and was a little wary as they have been small and not so good. Well the oysters at Zafferano were awesome. Big, juicy and full of flavour. The lamb I had for main and my husband’s steak were also delicious, and very prompt! I just couldn’t fit any dessert in, but the neighbouring table ordered the flambé crepes, which was quite the production value! A chef wheeled a cart over to their table and made it in front of them, was a really nice touch. My only criticism is that the $ 42 glass of Billecart champagne we each had to celebrate wasn’t very tasty, but that’s not really the restaurant’s fault, just not to our taste, and we do like fine wine! Will be visiting again for the next special occasion, maybe with an earlier booking so I can enjoy the wonderful view, and so I can give the crepes a go.

Zafferano is fancy… Super fancy. It’s the place you go to for a special occasion. Last time I was here I was treated to amazing seafood, wine, stunning view and an engagement ring. Zafferano is a sometimes place, because of the price, but the service and food make it all worth while. …and gents, ladies, if your boyfriend books a table for no reason at all you might be in for a surprise proposal too!

You can’t let summer pass by without dining out by the sea at least once, and I highly suggest you make that dining experience at Zafferano on Perth’s Swan riverbank. Summer, sea and seafood go excellently together, and Zafferano rightly prides itself as one of Perth’s finest providers of fresh fish dishes and crustacean. A good 90% of this restaurant’s menu is seafood, and the place really has cornered a niche market of patrons desiring a beautiful view, but never forgetting the food is of the utmost importance. It takes some time to ponder the menu here. Firstly because the 220 degree view that encompasses the Swan River, all its bridges, the crystal waters of Crawley, and the lush greenery of South Perth, is difficult to take your eyes away from. Secondly, because every dish on this restaurant’s menu steals your attention for a moment, from the Carpaccio of cured aged Black Angus beef fillet served with a mustard mayonnaise($ 28.50) to the Crispy Skinned Barramundi served with a basil, bacon and white bean braise($ 46). Sure, the prices are a little high, even for Perth’s upscale eatery standards, but the quality of the food is always superb and the service has always been great when I’ve been here. Still a classic Perth restaurant to contemplate for that very special occasion, then.
