Lycopod Island is the kind of playground you can wait to take kids to, simply to relive a childhood you feel that you have missed out on! This little gem is located at the right hand side of a large pond in Synergy park(just down from Zamia Café in Kings Park.) The ony way to get to this Island(subject to taking the plunge in duck poo infested waters!) is to take on a winding wooden walkway, sprinkled with fun facts! Being the brave bohemian that I am, I opted to rebel against footwear. Although I feel I camouflaged well with all the other kids(and kids at heart) skipping at high speed to embrace the fun– In retrospect I would strongly encourage anyone keen to make this journey to arm themselves with thongs at the very least– wood in the sun is hot to trot. Aside from just the exotic location(I always find that water adds an extra dimension of danger) the playground is full of playful things, levels, poles, a blue spiral slide and other interactive equipment. Upon making it to the island you are sprayed with a mist from stylised silver trees– for the more adventurous the flow gets sronger the closer you get! While the hazards ascociated with it being an island indicate this playground is a bit co-dependant.(aka: Close adult supervision is a definite) I can vouch that the adults(myself included) had as much fun– if not more, at times, as the kids!
