Botanical Cafe

Typical tourist restaurant, place was packed at the time of our visit. Food was delicious, service was sluggish but in defense it was extremely busy. Some of the wooden tables had lats of wood hence food food particles were lodged in the table, not a very attractive feature. I would suggest that the tables be brushed down between servings.

Great café for lunch or brunch after a long beautiful walk around Kings Park. I love the steak burger that comes with chips and aoli mayo to dip in. My wife enjoys the avocado smash … we come here once a week and the consistency in quality is good. She tells me the beef lasagna with salad which she had today was also delicious. Service is good and so are the coffees. Good food and million dollar views of the city… what is there not to like !

This place is a rip off. A tiny cake slice (its not even a cake slice more like the size of a friand) costs $ 7 and lacks flavour.
Their fresh juices are out of a bottle and the waiter asked for my order three times because he was too distracted by god knows what!
You must wait around 20 minutes just to receive a coffee in a place that’s not even busy.
They’ve got the location and view to their advantage but service is awful.

This café is in such a lovely spot, it really tops off a visit to Kings Park. It has a very informal set up, you order at the counter, take your number, find a seat and they bring your order to you. There’s a varied menu of hot and cold dishes (full meal or snack size) with daily specials too. I enjoyed a very good Rocket and Quinoa Salad and some Smashed Avocado with Feta on Grainy Bread. Both very generously served, delivered relatively quickly and enjoyable. There’s no air conditioning to speak of, so on a hot day like today (40 degrees) anywhere you sit will be hot.

Busy little pit stop after a walk in King’s Park. Always super busy with enough variety in the menu. They did run out of cider and let me know it would be 10 mins to change the keg when I ordered at the bar. However, after we waited for a few minutes at the table, we then get told that they can offer beer only! Bit awkward when you’ve already paid and one of your group already has their drink so we just agreed to having the beers to keep the peace really.

It was a delicious meal and very good service. The service was fast and friendly.
The coffee was tasty, hot and well priced.
On such a lovely fresh morning I couldn’t hope to be anywhere else :)

Breakfast is overpriced. Coffee was great and so is the view. The service was pretty average and needs improvement.
I dislike the places that have location advantages and do not provide quality food and service! Unfortunately the café does not need to compete with any other places.

Seriously the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Yes the food was meh. Ok. but The presentation was rubbish. On top of this the staff doesn’t even know that we had booked a table. All staff are seemingly useless but through no fault of their own. The manager didn’t seem to have a clue how to run this place. And don’t even get me started on how you have to line up to order your food. Train your wait staff to take orders for gods sake. Seriously. And for a «café» if you could even call it that, to be situated in such a high tourist area and have this sought of reputation it gives Frasers restaurant a bad name and it gives Perth a bad name. When there are plenty of great places to eat out here. Avoid at all costs.

Boxing Day. For the price $ 75 for breakfast. Place was 40deg zero airflow. Cutlery was dumped on the table in a wooden box. Food was editable. Nothing flash.

IMPORTANT INFO: 1) Find an open table with a number, 2) Order your food at the counter, 3) Get a pitcher of water and glasses for the table, 4) Wait for your food.
I am a bit of a tourist and still getting the lay of the land but this place was actually better than expected. Usually places to eat in a nice park like this are full of expensive and tasteless food which leaves you feeling like you wished that you packed your own lunch instead but not this place. The wife had a steak sandwich and I a burger… I almost always get a burger. Both the burger and the sandwich were better than average and the nice weather and view only made the lunch that more enjoyable. We were served quickly and tables were cleared just as swiftly. Most tables had menus but not every table, so if your table doesn’t make sure to track one down so yo can relay the order to the counter.
This place is quite loud and crowded and seating is open with both inside and outside but if you can find a place to sit first you are good to order. Keep the tips above in mind and you’ll have a good lunch a little on the high side but nice and tasty.
If you have some free time, check out the store next to this area which has quite a selection of Western Australia artists on display and for sale as well (from glass, ceramics to prints).

Family visitors to Perth suggested meeting at Kings Park — the beloved had been once or twice with girlfriends and suggested this place.
left to our own devices due to the dearth of wait staff we got up and looked for our own menus … got our own jug of water and glasses then saw the sign that says «Place order at counter».
I don’t really understand the intricacies of running an eatery/​Café in Perth and I am sure it is completely unprofitable due to the employment vacuum created by the mining boom which necessitates the owners having to fork out $ 12 or even $ 15 per hour… but I guess they have lots of vagrants and undesirables at this Kings Park establishment «doing a runner»…unlike the petrol station bowser that says — please pre-​pay inside due to drive offs” there is no real explanation as to why they have a plethora of «waiters» to hunt out the table number attached to the (paid) order and try to guess who’s it is by incessantly repeating the name of the drink/​food item but no one skilled or competent enough to provide a single point of contact, greet the guests, seat them, explain the specials (maybe even up sell the punters) take the order, all at the same time as assessing them for the potential of disappearing before paying … but I guess it must have happened too many times already for the owners so they opted for the safe and convenient (for them) option of contributing to the national health campaign and getting the punters up out of their seat to stand in line and hand over their hard earned before either a) disputing the quality of the meal before paying for it (heaven forbid that would never happen here) or b) liking it so much they do a runner before paying … and let’s face it the Porsche is not going to make its own repayments is it … so best to take the cash up front bank it and then deal with any complaints later…
Yeah it’s true Perth is a customer focused city… but unfortunately it’s only Langtree’s customers that come first … apparently the rest of us can go do the same to ourselves…
PS if you are interested in the food … Beloved and I split a Steak sandwich and two hot chocolates for $ 27 … steak smelled funny — tasteless — but just Ok overall (Master Chef’s Matt Moran would probably say it was under seasoned. but WTF would I know) about a 5 out of 10

I am a bit embarrassed for this place and for Perth. This is the type of place that attracts lot of tourists. It is high on the hill of Kings Park, with views of the city and the river.
The location and views are the best thing about it. The staff should not be working in hospitality. Ordering food was painful, with having to repeat ourselves and then correct them several times. The drinks came out 15 minutes after we ordered. The food was average café fare, definitely nothing to justify the prices or to write home about. Very disappointing. I really hope that visitors to Perth don’t think that this is all we have to offer.

Overlooking Kings Park, I thought this would be a great place for Perth visitors with a view to the city. I was wrong.
Firstly, taking an order really shouldn’t be that hard. And it wasn’t like we had any variations, we just wanted it how it was on the menu. Then we had to request our drinks 3 times before they showed up. Then as a group of 5 I didn’t think we would have a problem with the food turning up at different times. There was a 15 minute difference when being served the main.
The food was okay. Nothing particularly special. Which was disappointing given the location. I landed up apologising profusely to my friends, and reassuring them that this is not the standard for Perth.
