Poor customer service. Request for clearing the table was met with a deaf ear. My thank you still was not still not good enough for it to be attended. Requested another staff & was told she«will get it done eventually. Trying her best». A subsequent request for a fork was met with perhaps a mouthful of curse! Will never visit again.

Strolling through the mall, I came across French Twist at Westfield, Chermside. There I ordered like I was on death row. Chocolate blueberry mousse cake, Passion fruit and coconut meringue cheesecake and a lemon citron with a caramel mocha latte. Talk about a New Year’s resolution diet plan, right? The service was impeccable. The employees definitely bring a French feel to their customers and venue. I would recommend this place for a quick stop as it is in the middle of a big mall. Not much privacy but what they have to offer makes up for it.

Positives — Location Constructive — Staff attitudes. Not pleasant. I don’t care if you had a night out clubbing. — Cold weak coffee. There is nothing worse! — Food took some time to arrive, yet at the time of writing this it’s early in the morning.

Prompt, efficient service at 2 in the arvo. Damn tasty dark chocolate salted caramel tart. But, someone needs to teach the barista a Flat White is NOT just a latte in a mug. A flat white is uhhhhh… FLAT, people.

Attention French Twist: you’re in a shopping centre, not on the Champs Elysee. The attitude on the Champs Elysee is hard enough to swallow, transplant that to a suburban shopping centre full of bored Mums and disaffected youth and you’re just taking the p*ss. I needed a takeaway coffee to get me through the pain of Christmas food shopping. Yes, it was busy, but there were plenty of staff, all moving at a glacial pace. When I got my coffee it was cold. Not ‘drinkable’ temperature, actually cold. Bön chance at getting my custom again.

I waited 15 minutes to get a cappacino here. 15 freakin minutes and there was only 1 person ahead of me. Sure they had to change milk, but most of that time was… yes you didn’t guess it, chatting to one another. Which leads me to believe that the manager wasn’t around. Silly irresponsible teens. Tweens, goths… whatever they are called these days. And what’s with the attitude! They aren’t even french. They didn’t even speak french i’m pretty sure. So coffee good. Customer service crap. I’m not going to lie… I don’t exaggerate… 15 minutes for a kiosk coffee… never again.

Know what I can’t stand? Snotty staff who think working in a faux fancy place gives them a licence to behave in a ridiculously superior manner… and what’s worse than that? Serving sub-standard fare. The choux was chewy; the ‘new’ product, some butter pudding slice, I’m afraid may have been a re-do of a Christmas pudding recipe. The latte’s were good — so they should have been.

French Twist is one of those busy cafés strewn down the middle of one of the thoroughfares in the Chremside Shopping Centre. It’s an attractive little coffee shop, the front and the interior harks to casual Parisian class and is quite eye catching. Inside there is an array of beautiful cakes, bread and deli sandwiches that are pretty much bang on for the fulfilment of the culinary escapade. The staff are really friendly and their coffee making skills are a reason to go back again every time I’m at Chermside. My favourite thing to get from here is the toasted ham and cheese croissant. It’s buttery, flaky and all round yummage. Add one of their huge, bucket sized, coffees and the next fifteen minutes is easily the best experience to get me ready for the scrimmaging that’s necessary to battle the Chermside shopping crowd. Go do it and bon apetite.
