Oh this place is so delicious. They push an inventive edge on the familiar poached eggs and toastie routine. First up: The gorgeous smoked salmon, poached egg, avo on toast breakfast platter. The portions are HUGE and the flavours are wonderful. Sure, it’s a staple of Melb and you can get a breakfast of this description anywhere, but you won’t regret trying Vincent’s version. Second: The Bulgogi beef«dog». It’s basically a banh mi style sandwich with the oh-so-succulent and juicy bulgogi jam-packed inside. The price is right and the portion is big. It’s a unique fusion-style spin on an already fusion-style classic. Third(and best): The pulled pork piled high atop a crispy belgian waffle. This pork is absolutely incredible. I’ve been living in New Jersey for the past 5 years and haven’t had any pulled pork this good. I mean, this is Texas quality goodness in this pulled pork. And the coleslaw and aioli bring the dish together for mighty perfection. I was completely stuffed when I finished this monster meal but I was already saying«I can’t wait to come back.»

Love the atmosphere of this little café. I loved looking around the place at all the coffee gear from brands I had never heard of before. Coffee comes from Code Black. Not my favourite supplier but still produces a solid cuppa, nevertheless. Try out some of there filters. Keeping it short and sweet. The staff are nice and friendly. It is that atmosphere that really appeals to me about this one. Try it out.

I almost walked past this place, thinking it was a pub(due to name and proximity), but was delighted to find a gorgeous little café inside. This friendly little spot has one large communal table, bar seating and some outdoor table to enjoy a coffee or brunch. Coffee wise, I think the rotate their beans because I’ve seen mentions of Code Black but my iced pour over was Dukes beans — and delicious. Really delicious. They offer espresso and pour overs, and have a range of home brewing equipment for sale(particularly the Kalita brand). I just popped in for coffee, but food wise they offer great brunch fare. If you’re a fan of waffles, you’re in luck because they have a dedicated waffle section, as well as some other very tempting items like 5 and dime bagels. All very bread/carb heavy so if it’s not your bag, you might not find something you’re after. I’d definitely come back for the coffee or a waffle if I was feeling less virtuous than my last visit!

My second visit to Vincent The Dog provided an even better experience than the first(don’t know if the amazingly sunny Melbourne day was a big part of that, but it sure did help). Right near Melbourne Uni, it’s a place that is made for Uni students without having the tacky reputation that comes with many of the ‘cheaper’ cafes in the area. The menu is great — all your staples as well as a number of specialty bagels which are bloody good. And best of all, its so well priced! Avocado on toast was $ 8.50, and it wasn’t a stingy serving either! Everything else is around the $ 15 mark or lower, which I seriously appreciated being a poor bumb of a uni student. Coffee is done by the good folk at Code Black in Brunswick, which is always a good offering, and again, very well priced. Plenty of care is taken with all methods provided, and the triple head LaMarzocco machine provides such a cool focal point in the café. There is plenty of filter paraphernalia which I too always enjoy looking at. Overall — Vincent the Dog is a simple place, but with everything done so so well. My last experience was such a pleasant one, and definitely look forward to many more visits there, especially in Summer!

Great little café recently opened! I have gone here a few times to enjoy their great coffee and service! Very friendly staff. One of the best affogato I’ve had in Melbourne. Perfect for a warm day! Their coffee is great and tasty! Food is also amazing! I love the interior of this place.

Great boutique coffee joint just opened. Consistently amazing coffee. These guys take their caffeine very seriously. I love the bagels too.
