This place is huge! Lots of options to be seen. From pizza to pasta, gelato then onto sweet decadent treats. This place is buzzing, people everywhere and so many staff too. Order and pay for meals at the various counters and wait. Coffee was ok. We sampled a few cannoli’s and a few other desserts. Its a good place to stop by with family and friends for dessert and to catch up etc. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Being italian and first time visitor in Melbourne, I knew I had to stop at Brunetti for brekkie. The place itself made me feeling at home; the combination of the coffee station, the sound of teaspoons against the espresso cups and the baristas literally took me back in Italy. Cappuccino was really good; chocolate bignè and lobster tail were ok too. I thought there was only a bit of mess at the counters, but being such a busy place I can understand that everything can go to perfection every time

How can you pass up on a Carlton icon? Since it’s relocation from Faraday street, nothing has changed(only, of course, the location), still able to get your fix of Italian cakes & fantastic barista service. The branch out to other venues around Melbourne is a testiment to the success of Brunetti, however, I prefer to stick to the original.

This is the first time I have visited the new Brunetti’s on Lygon St. WOW!!! Brunetti’s is my idea of heaven. the cakes, the coffee, the pizzas. everything! Beautiful authentic Italian quality which will have your tastebuds doing somersaults. Staff are efficient and well equipped to cater for the extremely large crowds which walk through the door day in, day out. rain or shine! i managed(only just) to restrict myself to a buffalo mozzarella pizza(OMG) and a Sicilian ricotta cannoli(alleluia!). Probably enough to feed 2 people but I managed quite well on my own! Brunetti’s is a must for anyone visiting melbourne!

Simply put this is the best coffee I have ever had. Melbourne is known for coffee and this is the jewel of the lot. After eating on Lygon St. We strolled in for an after dinner coffee and dessert. The pastry counter is well varied and has flavors for every taste from puff pastry to ice cream. We gravitated to the Nutella selections sampling the Nutella cheesecake, Nutella ice cream cookie bar, and a strawberries & cream éclair. Even though my wife’s Nutella café mocha was a bit bitter it’s still worthy of the 5 stars I’m sharing. Don’t pass this one by.

Best cakes in Melbourne. Always a favourite in my house hold. The Black Forest cake is to die for.

Perfect and ideal spot for all desserts and coffee addicts. This gem in Little Italy of Melbourne is welcoming and has so much energy from the hot Italian baristas(ahem), long queues of eager customers to wide array of desserts in every imaginable colour and flavour to tantalise newcomers and faithful fans. The inside décor bearing the handsome marble floorings is stunning and you’ll be tempted to whip out your camera for a shot or two. Bring your friends, family and infact the whole neighbourhood if you like as there’s ample seating places. Indoor or alfresco. Just perfect in every sense.

One of my favorite bakeries in Melbourne! Went here frequently as an exchange student while at University of Melbourne years ago and was so pleasantly surprised during my most recent trip of the new location. The bakery is drop dead gorgeous and the pastries are still incredibly delicious. A trip to Melbourne wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Brunetti’s!

Brunetti is by far my favorite place for gelato in Melbourne. The stracciatella is my go to flavor, but I do the enjoy the salted caramel and coffee as well. They also have a pastry section for other desserts that just makes your mouth water as you enter the store. Definitely check out the coffee too! The flavor is nice and it has a good balance of milk in the flat whites. So far everything I have tried has been excellent and I make weekly trips from uni to walk over to this cute Italian dessert shop.

I had a wonderful experience, the hot chocolate was perfect and the cannoli was all I could ask for. The atmosphere is lively and inviting. All of the desserts look like a celebration.

I just get sad every time I come to Brunetti. There’s so much to try and even if I came every day, three meals a day, I would never get to try it all. Every dessert is impeccable and gorgeous. Even when I can’t eat another bite I want to browse and mourn my stupid stomach for having a maximum capacity. I want to touch everything. I want to take photos. It’s like a museum of art for desserts. But it makes me sad. Truly, you may think I’m kidding, but trying to pick one of these gorgeous desserts(let alone ogling the birthday cakes that make your grandmother’s sheet cake look like hell,) is just heartbreaking. Salted caramel macaroon or pistachio éclair? Key lime pie or a little chocolate bombe with actual gold flake? I haven’t found anything here that makes the choice easier. There’s no one dessert that beats all other desserts. I love them all equally. It’s just cruel to make me pick. But truly, this place is nearly as fun to browse as it is to eat at. It’s massive interior complete with dessert, gelato, and coffee stations, café tables and restaurant booths, and high ceilings with ornate gilt décor makes Brunetti an experience. Truly.

I get heart palpitations just thinking about this place. I have a pavlovian response to the place to the extent that my mouth now waters even when i hear the word Brunette, I think I have a problem o_o But seriously this place is like a dessert wonderland. So much choice, so little tummy space. I go there every time I am down in Melbourne, and each time I try something different. The great thing is a lot of the desserts aren’t too big so you can try a couple of small things if you come with an empty stomach. Just go there. Seriously. Go now.

I am melting over how wonderful this place is. Now, I am just a visitor to Melbourne, but the atmosphere of an outdoor/indoor espresso shop with a variety of coffee drinks, dressed up staff, and windows of delicious pastries can’t get any better in my mind. Oh, and the beautiful and elaborate marble floor. I came in here for a shot of espresso while taking a break from walking in Melbourne’s Little Italy. Most of the other traditional shop were closed, save the Wooly’s in the basement and the Novo Cinema featuring independent films(who have discounted films on Monday, FYI). If you like a busy coffee and pastry palace, or need a little pick me up while you roam the streets of Melbourne, definitely make it to the original Brunetti’s!(How American do I sound?) ** Thanks to Mel for pointing out I wrote Sydney(3x!) and not Melbourne. That’s how American I am, haha.

Ok… Let’s establish this first… This is not a bad place… It’s just that it is far far from actually good. This is a perfect example of a tourist trap. Epic ambiance… Epic marble everywhere. Simply grand. But the food and dessert is typical tourist attraction. So much money put into the décor and ‘impression’… Yet the people making it all happen food-wise are clearly your run of the mill staff. So… If the ambiance is what you want go here… It really is cool. But do NOT expect epic food or dessert. It so no better then a chain italian place. If you go notice the huge number of desserts lining all the walls… Do you really think they were made that day? Of course not… It’s for show.

It’s an institution, you have to go visit and say you’ve been. They are now in the former Borders store location on Lygon street and the conversion from bookstore to Italian bakery /café is stunning. The coffee is spot on and the food tasty & speedy given the busyness. Plus, they were open on Melbourne Cup day! We couldn’t not have a sweet treat on the way out. I mean, it’s what they are known for. We opted for some macarons & a cannoli. Both treats were stale and we were disappointed. We have had the sweet treats at the Bourke St Myer location and were delighted. So, I can only assume it was because it was a public holiday & maybe they only had day-old stock on hand?

Cakes, glorious cakes. And let’s not forget the macaroons, slices, tarts, pies and the other million items of deliciousness on offer. I love a bit of cheesecake personally — especially the ricotta one so I can pretend I’m being healthy.(Yeah…I’m not sure how that works wither but it works for me okay…) The main issue I have with this place is that it’s quite confusing to order. There are so many people drooling at the counter it’s hard to know who is ordering, who was next and even if you should be ordering at any part of the counter. I’m not a huge fan of the coffee here although it trumps the City Square branch — I have no idea what they do to the coffee down there but I can’t STAND it. Grab a cake, stick to tea — fabulous!

How can you not love Brunetti? They churn out coffees at super speeds and fabulously consistent quality, the cakes are as Mathan described«magical,» the entire place is a real treat. To top it off, they are open until midnight most nights I believe, which suits me great as I have Neon Syndrome. There isn’t a lot to say that hasn’t already been said by others, so just take our word for it and try it out, it’s so Melbourne and it’s worth it.

Brunetti is known for their great cakes and desserts and is well worth a visit. The store is bound to make anyone who appreciates a good dessert to drool. You walk past several refrigerators full of cakes as you enter the store from Lygon St before coming to their cake, cookie, and pastry display cases. There’s a huge variety to choose from — the biggest problem is likely to be selecting which of the many delicious items to buy. In addition to their cakes, pastries, and biscuits, they also make good coffee, they serve gelato, and they even have a full food menu at the back of the store. I will say that I’m less of a fan of the Lygon St location compared with the previous Faraday St location. They have done a decent job of outfitting the new location, but the building doesn’t have the same character.

I had a mate visiting and we hadn’t seen him in years so one of my mates suggested we go to Brunetti for dessert. This store is huge compared to the say… Camberwell branch. They have a more extensive menu and are open till late as well. Everytime I drive past, it’s always busy and it was on the night we went as well. My flat white was ok, nothing special and I also had a chocolate and pear tarte plus a new york cheesecake(What? I love desserts!) and they were… well exactly as the ones I tried before at the Camberwell store. Worth a try if you love desserts.
